her boss, which gave him the
permission to set her
ablaze. Three months after
Mary Kamango battled for her
life, she was reported dead on
Friday, July 29. Kamango who
hails from Kenya went in
search of greener pastures in
the Lebanon, before she was
allegedly burnt by her boss in
the Arabic country.
Unfortunately, she became a
victim of torture in the hands
of her boss. She was flown
back home courtesy of Mike
Sonko’s rescue team with over
40% body burns. Mary was
undergoing treatment at
Kenyatta National Hospital, but
gave up on life on
Friday. However, no one knows
what happened between Mary
and her boss.

The Akwa Ibom State Police
Command has arrested a 30-
year-old chief priest, Eno
Akpan, for allegedly killing his
one year and three months old
daughter, Favour. Eno, who
hails from Ikot Akpan Udo
village in the Ikot Abasi Local
Government Area, reportedly
manages the village’s shrine.
The CP, who spoke through the
state Police Public Relations
Officer, Cordelia Nwawe, said
in Uyo on Monday that Eno
had a misunderstanding with
his wife, Blessing, and beat her
up during the scuffle, Blessing
ran off to her mother and left
her daughter with the suspect.
He said Eno called Blessing to
take Favour with her, adding
that when she refused, he
inflicted machete injuries on
the girl’s back and head. The
girl died from the injuries.
Eno, however, said he had a
disagreement with his wife
after she returned home late
from the market where she
sold oysters. According to him,
he used his fists on her, but by
the time he picked up a
machete to strike her, it cut
through their daughter. He
said, “She went to sell oysters
in the market. When she came
back, I tried to inquire why she
came back late and that it was
becoming a habit for her to
return home late from the
market. “Her reply incensed
me and I had no other option
than to beat her. The moment I
picked up a machete to strike
her, she threw my daughter at
me and the machete landed on
her head and back.”

In what appears as tacit admission that the
economy of the country is worsening and in
need of urgent rescue, the Federal Government
today commenced a rescue effort by inviting
some known experts to join the presidential
economic team.The President’s Economic
Management Team, EMT, held a consultative
forum with a team of notable economic and
financial experts at a meeting presided over
today by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.
Those who joined the Minister of Finance Kemi
Adeosun and other members of the economic
team at the meeting were Mr. Bismarck
Rewane, Mr. Bode Augusto, Prof. Akpan Ekpo,
Dr. Ayo Teriba and Prof. Badayi Sani.
A statement by the spokesman to the Vice
President, Dr. Deolu Akande, explained that “the
parley which held at the Presidential Villa,
strategies and suggestions on how best to
reflate the economy, bring it out of recession
and promptly restore growth topped the
agenda.”
He disclosed that the Vice President expressed
the President’s determination to consider and
adopt policies that would boost business,
increase employment and provide succor to the
poor and disadvantaged.
He quoted the Vice President as saying, “we will
continue to engage with experts and other
stakeholders so we can measure progress of
the economic policies that have been put in
place. The challenges are many but the
opportunities are much greater, we are clearly
on the path to building an economy that will
create jobs and ensure inclusive growth.”
Issues discussed at the consultative forum
include the review of the new foreign exchange
regime and its effect on the economy as well as
the draft Medium Term Economic Framework
for 2017-2019. The EMT members and the
experts made a plethora of suggestions on how
to reflate the economy, especially through
massive infrastructural spending with active
private sector participation, ensure pro-people
economic policies, increase the supply of
dollars to the forex market among other issues.
Also speaking with reporters at the end of the
meeting, Minister for Budget & National
Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma said
“we’ve just finished a special meeting of the
economic management team, as you know, we
are in the middle of consultations to develop
the new mid-term economic framework, M-TEF.”
He further disclosed that the meeting is “part of
a comprehensive consultation process that we
are embarking on to make sure that we reach
out to a wide spectrum of Nigerians to get a
feed back in terms of how best to make sure
that we come out of this recession.”
The EMT meets weekly and also hold special
consultations with members of the private
sector and economic experts from time to time.

The President of Togo, Faure Eyadema and his
Benin Republic counterpart, President Talon,
arrived Abuja on Tuesday as guests of President
Muhammadu Buhari.
While the Nigerian President assured of
efficiency to make the West African Gas
Pipeline stabilise power in Ghana, Togo and
Benin, he had a security meeting with the
Togolese president.
Also at the meeting with Togolese President
was the President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji
Aliko Dangote.
The President said the Nigerian government
would do everything within its capacity to
ensure that the West Africa sub-region is
stabilised.
He said, “We are also building pipelines, but it’s
not as formidable as what Dangote (Group) is
doing. We are improving on it.
We also have the Nigeria Liquefied and Natural
Gas project that is helping to liquefy gas with
modern technology and modern technology is
making it flexible.
“If you will recall, I mentioned to the President
of Benin that we have power problem. Benin
Republic has power problem because they
depend on us and we are working very hard to
stabilise the situation.
The resources are available, the technology is
available, we are trying to stabilise the
situation. If we improve power it means our
productivity can be competitive and God willing,
we are going to achieve our objectives,” he
said.

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode said
the largest single line refinery in the world being
developed at the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ)
by Africa’s richest man and business mogul,
Alhaji Aliko Dangote is another confirmation that
Lagos is a prime investment destination, saying
that the project will positively change the face
of oil and gas business in the West African
region.
Governor Ambode, who spoke at the LFTZ
during an extensive inspection tour of the
Dangote Refinery by the Togolese
President, Faure Gnassingbe, said the refinery
eloquently attests to the fact that there is a
positive investment climate in Lagos which has
resulted in massive investor confidence.
The Governor said,the investment (Dangote
Refinery) is one of the biggest in Africa and will
have a huge impact on the economy of not only
Nigeria but the whole of West African region
adding that the refinery, when completed, will
be the largest single line refinery anywhere in
the world refining 650,000 barrels of crude oil
daily.
The Governor expressed satisfaction with the
level of work done on the project so far, saying
that he was happy that a lot of progress had
been made.
He commended Dangote for his vision,
doggedness and unwavering desire to contribute
positively to the growth of the Nigerian
economy, as well as his confidence in the
Lagos economy.
Governor Ambode said aside the fact that the
project confirmed the positive investment
climate in Lagos which has resulted in massive
investor confidence, he also strongly believes
that the future prosperity of West Africa is in
collaboration between government and
investors, which was why his administration has
been working hard to encourage investment in
the State.
He reiterated that Lagos is home to all nations,
races and creeds, including substantial Togolese
population, adding: “I’m positive that we are
providing them with the opportunities to get
ahead in their endeavors.”
While inviting Togolese investors to take
advantage of the positive investment climate in
Lagos, Governor Ambode made it known
that the State is open for businesses, and that
his administration, in a bid to encourage
investment, had massively invested in
infrastructure and security of lives and property.
Meanwhile,Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade
and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah said the
Dangote Refinery project could best be
described as a partnership between private
sector and government at its best.
Enelamah commended Dangote for being not
only Nigerian champion but champion of Africa
with his massive investments and re-
investments, which according to him, are
creating jobs and growing the economy.
Some eminent dignitaries that participated at
the tour include former governors of Ogun, Ekiti
and Cross River States, Segun Osoba, Niyi
Adebayo and Donald Duke respectively;
billionaire businessman and Chairman, Zenon
Petroleum and Gas Limited, Femi Otedola,
members of the Lagos State Executive Council,
among others.

An Emirates airline flight from India has crash-
landed at Dubai International Airport with almost
300 people on board, officials say.
Images posted online show thick black smoke
coming from the plane.
The Dubai government media office said on its
Twitter account that all passengers were
evacuated safely and no injuries have been
reported so far.
The Boeing 777 was reportedly flying from the
Indian city of Trivandrum to Dubai.
Emirates airline said there were 275 passengers
and crew on board.
“Our main priority now is the safety and well-
being of all involved,” the airline said on Twitter.
All departures from Dubai international airport
have been delayed until further notice, the Dubai
authorities said, adding that the emergency
services were dealing with the situation.
The live air traffic monitor Flightradar24 posted
more details of the kind of plane.

This pretty lady Adaeze
Nnamani pictured above is was
a student of UNICAL, Diploma
year 2. She died on Monday
morning after vomiting blood
for a long time. A source who
is a close friend to Adaeze and

Ada went to a party on Sunday
evening and came back late
that same night, alighting from
a "Monster Jeep" with so much
goodies in her hands.

hours of Monday, she started

The people of Mbiri kingdom,

gruesome murder of 18-year-
old girl, Miss Faith Ijeamaka,
who was beheaded with her
breasts and genitals cut off. It
was gathered from the
bereaved family that Faith’s
body was found mutilated
along a farm road in Mbiri,
days after she went missing
last month. According to the
statement made by the family,
“we resorted to consulting a
soothsayer after days passed
without knowing the
whereabouts of Faith.”

man, Mr. Godstime Okoh, a.k.a.
GT, by yet-to-be identified

reportedly gunned down

two Saturdays ago at Dorathy
by Okobi Street, Boji-Boji,
Owa. Speaking with newsmen
during a visit to the residence
of the deceased, his mother,
Mrs. Doris Okoh said that her
son was neither a cultist nor
had anything to do with cult
members, but wondered why
he was killed in his prime. In
her words: “My son, Godstime,
has been a very good and
obedient child to me. Since we
have been living together, I
have never found or suspected
Godstime to be a member of

Angry women in Kaduna state
yesterday came out half Unclad

A family has revealed the
tragic death of a three-year-old
toddler on her birthday after
she ran into the road and got
knocked down by an oncoming
vehicle. The victim, Jayda
Handy, was killed at about
2pm on saturday August 6, 2016,
while she ran to meet her
grandfather near North 84th
and West Marion streets in
Milwaukee. She was
immediately rushed to a
children's hospital where she
later died.
Fox 6 reports that the birthday
party had continued after her
death, as her family believes
that was what the tot would
have wanted. The police
revealed that the driver of the
car which had killed little
Jayda, had stayed stayed after
the accident and had been
totally cooperative, helping
with the investigation.

A Georgia man was arrested
Friday for having s*x with a
goat. Freddie Wadsworth’s
neighbors were gazing out
their window when they spied
the 65-year-old man having
indecent relations with a white
female goat. Freddie is

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday
accused another splinter group of Niger Delta
Avengers of plot to kill him.
Jonathan’s alarm came on the heel of weekend
allegation that he was one of the sponsors of
the Niger Delta Avengers.
The new group named Reformed Niger Delta
Avengers had pledged loyalty to the Movement
for the Emancipation of Niger Delta.
Octogenarian Chief Edwin Clark; a former
Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill
Akpabio; ex-militant leader, Government
Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo; and a
national chairmanship aspirant of the Peoples
Democratic Party, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi
are some of the other Niger Delta leaders
accused of sponsoring NDA.
The former President said in a statement by his
spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze: “Since it is not in
our place to speak for all those named in the
obvious fabrication, we are only intervening to
the extent that its hidden intent poses a violent
threat to the life of former President Goodluck
Jonathan, a committed patriot.
“We are seized by the feeling of déjà vu
occasioned by the resurrection of one dim
character masquerading as Cynthia Whyte, who
had in the past served as the spokesperson for
a notorious group that had all along shown its
hand to be going after the life of former
President Jonathan.”
Jonathan said the group had made attempt to
kill him much earlier in 2007 when he emerged
as the running mate of late President Umar
Yar’Adua.
He listed attempt to kill him while as governor
in Bayelsa and when group attacked his home
town in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.
The statement added: “Do we need to remind
anybody that the so-called Cynthia Whyte is the
self-declared spokesperson for the Movement
for the Emancipation of Niger Delta, a violent
and murderous underground group led by one
Henry Okah, which has not hidden its intention
to destroy the former President?
“We have no doubt in our mind that MEND, as a
group contracted to go after Jonathan with the
mind of assassinating him, has yet to abandon
this criminal and ignominious craving. It is in
this light that we view the purported statement
issued by Cynthia Whyte as not only a sadistic
continuation of this sick desire, but also a futile
attempt to instigate the Federal Government to
needlessly go after the former President.
“Those who have been following the unsavoury
developments in some parts of the country
since the last general election would have
noticed that MEND, its paymasters and other
unscrupulous elements in the South-South
region have been striving fruitlessly to exploit
the ensuing confusion by surreptitiously working
for the fulfilment of its yet-to-be declared
political agenda.
“We are not under any illusion that more
accusations and allegations of this nature would
not be hurled Jonathan’s way in the future. But
we are very positive that he can never be fazed
by such negative energy.”
