Young Boy Killed Himself Because His Mum "Abused" Him by Success23(f) : 4:07 am On Jul 16

A thirteen-year-old boy has been found dead in an uncompleted building beside his home after his mother allegedly rained abuses on him.
The teenager, simply identified as Rokeeb, was found hanging on a noose last Monday, around 9am, at 25 Ekimogun Street, Apelehin under Isokan community in Bariga area of Lagos.
Neighbours told Saturday Sun that Rokeeb could have sunk into depression after his mother launched a tirade at him in which, she allegedly told him to go hang himself if he liked.
On the fateful day, no one expected that such a terrible thing would happen, because Rokeeb was his usual self, doing the call to prayer in the local mosque situated at Kehinde lane, close to his house.

Rokeeb’s Quranic teacher simply known as Alfa Sambo, said the boy, after performing the religious assignment that morning continued reading the Quran in mosque, but suddenly left when he saw his mother going out.
“He told Alfa that he wants to go and help his mother carry her load,” an eyewitness told Saturday Sun. “Rokeeb’s mother sells noodles at a bus stop in Bariga. Few minutes after, we heard the mother shouting and abusing the boy, I was confused as to what could have gone wrong with Rokeeb and his mother. But I didn’t go out to confirm what the cause of the outburst was.”
Another neighbour said one of Rokeeb’s siblings told her that the deceased asked their mother for money, but she told him she did not have. Then Rokeeb started grumbling and complaining about life, saying that he was tired of living. That apparently annoyed the mother and made her reply in anger that if he was tired of life he should go and hang himself, the neighbour said.
Moments later, Rokeeb’s body was found dangling from the ceiling in an uncompleted building near the house.
“We heard some residents shouting for help that Monday morning,” a resident who simply identified himself as Kunle, said, adding: “we found Rokeeb hanging and struggling for breath. We took him down and rushed him to Gbagada General Hospital, but he died at the emergency section before medical help could get to him.”

Neighbours said Rokeeb’s mother is a single mother of three. Rokeeb was a product of her first marriage, which crashed. She remarried and had the last two children. That marriage also crashed, so, currently she is not with any man, one said.
Saturday Sun’s efforts to reach the woman for comments were unsuccessful as she was said to have been at large, since the incident. No one could tell her whereabouts by press time

Here Is Why Omoni Oboli Is Grateful To Goodluck Jonathan by Success23(f) : 7:00 am On Jul 17

Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Omoni Oboli has said former President Goodluck Jonathan gave her career a boost.

In a recent interview with Punch, Oboli said Jonathan‘s decision to watch her directorial debut was the boost she needed.

Here are the excerpts:

There was some copyright infringement controversy over your movie, Okafor’s Law, how have you been able to resolve it?

We’re still in court. So we’ll leave that for now.

Did Jude Idada actually contribute to the movie in any way?

The case is in court at the moment. One day, I will tell my story.

Can you recall who gave you your first opportunity in the movie industry?

A lot of people helped me when I first stepped into the scene as a young actor. There was Obi Osotule, Keppy Ekpenyong, Opa Williams, and Fred Amata who helped me get into the industry. Fidelis Duker and Lancelot Imasuen were the first to give me the lead role in a movie, Not my Will, and then later, Destined to Die, in the same year. Hilda Dokubo gave me a role in her movie, Another Campus Tale, as the lead female. After my long break from the industry, Emem Isong-Misodi was the one who gave me the opportunity for a come-back, even though it didn’t feel like a come-back. It felt more like starting from the beginning.

What are some of the earliest challenges you faced in your career?

Getting the lead role was one of them. When I got back after my long break, I was the ‘new girl’ in town and I just didn’t know anyone in the industry who knew me. It was a real challenge to break into the industry again. I finally wrote a script, Fatal Imagination, hoping to play the lead role in it, but I was only given a small supporting role in the movie by the marketer. It was tough, but I persisted.

Which movie gave you your breakthrough after your second coming?

I believe The Figurine was the breakthrough movie. It was the movie that helped the new cinema culture that we’re all enjoying today. Anchor Baby was the icing on the cake.

If you were to start your career over again, what things would you do differently?

I don’t know if I’d do anything differently. I stopped acting for 10 years to complete my university studies, and I’m glad I have a university degree. I also got married during that long break and had children, and I wouldn’t trade that for all the accolades I may have missed in that period. Each opportunity I lost seems to have opened other doors for me, so I’m glad for all the experiences that I’ve gone through, because they have defined who I am today. I thank God for all the joys as well as the scars because they show me what God has pulled me through. I wouldn’t do anything differently.

Many believe that your relationship with former president, Goodluck Jonathan, was a boost for you; in what ways did he contribute to your career?

Being Mrs. Elliott was my directorial debut, and I had applied to show the movie to the president and he obliged. Anything that gives you publicity for your movies prior to the cinema release is definitely always welcome by any serious filmmaker. It was a great honour and a beautiful boost to my career as a filmmaker. To launch out that way was definitely the very thing I needed then and I’m thankful for it.

How would you describe your marital experience?

It has been great and I cannot complain. God has been good to me by giving me a husband that is supportive and who loves me dearly. Our marriage will be 17 years in October.

How have you been able to keep your home intact despite the many failed marriages in Nollywood?

I don’t know if I keep my home intact; I believe God does that for me. There are many women who do the right things and show up at every time for their husbands and still get the short end of the stick. So I don’t take credit for it. I have my moments and he does too, but somehow it has never tipped the scale and that’s because God made it possible. Nevertheless, I believe that when you understand that you’re both different individuals who have become one, then you can try to weather any storm, knowing that if you don’t, both of you will have a dreadful life in that marriage. Enjoy it and seek for the things that make for peace because life is too short to waste it fighting.

How are you able to find balance between your family and your career?

I have an understanding husband who knows what my job entails and I don’t disrespect him, so we assume responsibilities to fill up the gaps that the other is lacking. My career keeps me away from my family often, but with love and understanding, family and career have never been at war in my home.

Do you consider yourself a stylish person?

Yes, I would say so. I have my own style and I love fashion. That’s why I now have my own fashion line that shows my style, and people love it.

How do you unwind?

I love spending time with my family, watching movies, playing games or just hanging out. I love reading books as well.

2 Sisters Burnt To Death In Benue State(Photos) by Success23(f) : 10:49 am On Jul 19

As shared by Jude......
'CALAMITY BEFALL MY NEIGHBORHOOD AT THE EARLY HOURS OF TODAY.

It was 5:30 am when a neighbor came nocking on my door , SAATER! Saater!! Saater , I asked mama what happen? . she answered, come with me and see some thing.
I followed her to a house where hundreds of people were already standing . What has happened? , I was told two girls from the same mother were burnt to death.
How it stated.
Three girls from the same mother have been staying in the same room . they leave the village to school in makurdi.
The elderly one often leave the room in the night to his boy friend house . she always find it difficult to come back into to the room quietly as it always take  several nocks and time for the younger ones to open the room for her. Some thing she is not at home with.
So yesterday, according to her, she locked the door outside with a padlock around 12 something am and head to his boy friend house with the aim of coming back early as usual.
Like I told you earlier , I was there around 5:47am with mama , the the two girls where dead lying covered in there room.
Fire whose source could not be determined had burn the mattress where the too other girls where sleeping  . one of them lack oxygen and died instantly why the other tried to open the door but couldn't as the door was locked outside.
A good neighbor who came quite early spoiled the door and found the other one dead why the other had little breath and was rushed to the hospital but it was too late already.
Her dead body were returned home immediately without  delay and placed side by side to her late sister.
The lady returned from her boy friends house close to six O'Clock
and met hundreds of people in his house .
A man asked, where have you gone? , the lady replied what I did not hear but later went in to found her two sisters dead.
The boy friend came around and receive the beaten of his life , the girl whose age can not be more than 16 by my own assessment told the crowed not to beat the little guy.
The girls school mate visited and it was cry all over . what a tragedy.
The girls parents arrived later and the dead bodies have since been taken to the village for burial. it is really a mystery how the fire came in to the room'.

24-yr-old Nigerian cancer patient, whose sister was refused U.K visa to help her, dies. by Success23(f) : 6:45 pm On Jul 19

.

.

A woman with leukaemia at the centre of a campaign to allow her donor Nigerian sister to come to the UK has died. Martha Williams, 26, travelled to the UK to donate stem cells to 24-year-old May Brown.

.

.

The Home Office reversed a decision not to issue Ms Williams a visa after more than 60,000 signed an online petition. The transplant was deemed a success in March.

.

.

But the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT) said Mrs Brown died on Friday following a relapse. It added she passed away “surrounded by her loved ones”.

.

.

May Brown is survived by her husband Mike and two-year-old daughter Selina-May The operation was postponed from December to January after Mrs Brown, from Weymouth, became unwell with a virus and required further chemotherapy, ACLT said.

.

.

However, ACLT co-founder Beverley De-Gale said Mrs Brown relapsed in April. “The leukaemia came back and it came back very aggressively. The doctors tried again to get May back into remission but sadly the leukaemia was too strong.”

.

.

She added she felt the delay in Ms Williams getting a visa may have contributed to Mrs Brown’s death. “You never know with any cancer what way it’s going to go but any delay is never going to help the situation.

.

.

I sadly have to say that could be a possibility but I am not a medical expert.” Mrs Brown was diagnosed with leukaemia in July 2015. She had been told her only chance of survival was an urgent stem-cell transplant.

.

.

Her sister Martha was a “10 out of 10” tissue match. ACLT said Ms Williams was initially refused a UK visa because her teacher’s salary of £222 per month was too low.

.

.

Paying tribute to his wife, Mr Brown said: “May will forever be remembered in our hearts. She was a strong, beautiful, supportive, wonderful wife and mother. Selina and I will truly miss her.”

.

.

In a statement, the Home Office said Ms Williams’ visa was issued on compassionate grounds on 21 October. A spokesman said the visa was initially refused on 5 October because she did not meet the requirements of the immigration rules.

Ajimobi orders reopening of Emmanuel Alayande CoE by Success23(f) : 6:01 am On Jul 20

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Wednesday ordered the immediate re-opening of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo.

Ajimobi announced the re-opening of the institution shortly after a meeting with the management, staff and students of the college in Ibadan.

The Nstate government had on Friday, June 2 closed the institution following a violent protest by the students.

The students had embarked on the violent protest over issues bordering on their welfare.

The Provost of the college, Dr Rasak Adefabi, had led the college management team and students to tender their apology to the governor over the embarrassment caused him during the protest.

Ajimobi advised students to always conduct themselves in an orderly manner with high sense of morality and regards for the constituted authority.

“Our students should always engage government and relevant stakeholders in dialogue on issues that affect them.

“You have apologised to the government and we have seen that you are sober.

“We have accepted your apology and hereby announce the re-opening of the institution with immediate effect,’’ he said.

The governor called on the management and members of staff of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, to cooperate with the auditors sent to the institution.

Ajimobi said that the effort was to allow the owner states to see how the finances of the institution were utilised in the past.

“Is it wrong for government to demand the auditing of a public institution, which government has been spending on? ’’ he said.

The college provost thanked the governor for reopening the college.

In his remarks, Mr Theophilus Oladeji, President of the college’s Students Union Government, promised to ensure orderliness in the institution.

Anambra Election:- Militants Back Nnamdi Kanu On Boycott by Success23(f) : 8:49 am On Jul 20

From: TONY JOHN, Port Harcourt

Some Niger Delta militant groups have declared their support for the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, that the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State, in November, , by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), will not take place.

The groups, Concerned Militant Leaders (CML), Niger Delta People Democratic Front (NDPDF) and Rainbow Marabas Squad (RMS) argued that since May 30, 2016 when soldiers allegedly massacred harmless and innocent IPOB members in some parts of the Southern states, Federal Government has remained silent over the incident.

Leaders of the groups, General Ben (CML), General Playboy (NDPDF) and General Aneaja (RMS), after their meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Wednesday, demanded for justice for the victims of the May 30, 2016, Biafra Day celebration killings.

Convner of the meeting, General Ben, stated: “Federal Government should address the injustice meted out to innocent and harmless IPOB members, while celebrating Biafra Day. The election in Anambra State should not hold and will not hold. That injustice must first be addressed before any election will take place by Federal Government.

“Southern political leaders, who are romancing with Federal Government to truncate and jeopardize Biafra struggle because of the selfish aggrandizement, will live to regret their actions because, we will not forget them.

“Any attempt by Federal Government to take us for granted, should be resisted. We advise Anambrarians to boycott that election. Any person that flouts our order does that at his or her peril. Nobody is our target, but don’t make yourself our target”, the groups warned.

Reacting to the recent quit notice to the Igbo people living in the North by Arewa youths, and the similar ultimatum by their colleagues (militants) to the Northerners in the Niger Delta, the groups said they did not see it as a threat.

According to them it was an opportunity for the Southerners to realise and address their agitations properly with zeal and commitment.

They advised Southerners, particularly Igbo people, living in the North, not to be carried away by whatever assurances they might have received from any quarters concerning their safety, insisting that they should heed to the order.

Ben stated: “We do not see it as a threat, but a welcome development. It should not generate disaffection, but should be accepted with commendation because it would give the agitators opportunity to champion their course with the necessary zeal it requires.

“In essence, the deadline should stand, both for the South Easterners in the North, and the Northerners in the Niger Delta region and South East. And our people should return home. Every Southern is our brother or sister, whether from East, West or South.

“Whoever refuses to heed to this order, will blame himself or herself for the consequences. We have sounded the warning to our people in the North not to allow themselves to be slaughtered like before.

“This time around, while we demand that the Igbo should obey the quit notice by Arewa boys, we would not fold our hands and watch them (Arewa) massacre our people. Whatever that happens to our people, will surely have grave and regrettable consequences on the opponents, General Ben warned.

10 Marketing Steps You Should Take After Launching a New Blog Post by Success23(f) : 10:46 am On Jul 21

How to market a blog post

How to market a blog post

The most common mistake bloggers make is not doing enough marketing after launching a new blog post. A good rule of thumb to remember about content marketing is to multiply the amount of time it took you to write the blog post by three. That’s how long you should spend marketing your blog post.

Here are the first 10 things every blogger should do after launching a new blog post in order to help that content go viral.

1. Tweet Different Titles of Your Article

After sharing your article on Twitter, try tweeting that article again using a different headlines. Steve Rayson recently shared an article on Buzzsumo called, “We Analyzed 100 Million Headlines. Here’s What We Learned (New Research)“. I highly suggest reading the article to make sure you’re using the most effective headlines, based on science and data.

Here are some of the headline data highlights:

  1. “will make you…” was the top phrase on Facebook
  2. “X reasons why….” was the top beginning phrase of headlines on Facebook
  3. “…the world” was the top ending phrase of headlines on Facebook
  4. “This” was the top first word on Facebook
  5. “10” Was the most engaging number on Facebook
  6. Using 15 words in your headline got the most engagement on Facebook
  7. “this is what” got the most engagement on Twitter
  8. “the age of” got the most B2B engagement on Twitter

There’s so much more data in this research. Take your time and give it a read…and a re-read. It’s a must read and a must save.

2. Try Sharing Different Images with Your Article

Nothing is more effective than visual content. Try sharing your article on different social media channels using different images. Find out what works best, and swap your featured image out with your most effective image.

I hate paying for stock photos, and the good news is, you don’t have to. Here are 21 websites with totally free stock photos for bloggers. Save this little gem of a list and use it with all of your content marketing efforts.

3. Share Different Quotes From Your Article

Find some of the different highlights in your article and share each one of them in different tweets, with a link to your article. Don’t Tweet them all back-to-back. Spread it out over time. Once you know what works, keep retweeting it as time goes by.

4. Tweet Your Article Using Different Hashtags

People often search the same topics on Twitter using different hashtags. Share your article on Twitter multiple times using different hashtags. Try combining different quotes, images, and headlines with your different hashtags.

5. Link to Your New Article from Previous Popular Posts

Search through older articles and find relevant places to link to your new content. This is a simple but big win that most people simply don’t do. Yet, it only takes minutes and is super effective. Especially if you’re linking from your more popular articles.

6. Repurpose Your Content

Don’t rely on just your blog post. Reach new audiences by sharing your amazing content in different ways. Here are a few ideas to get started with.

  1. Publish a Checklist on Checkli
  2. Record a Podcast about your content
  3. Make an infographic about your content using Canva
  4. Make a slideshare
  5. Hold a webinar

7. Email, Tag, or Mention Influencers from Your Article

Ego Bait is insanely effective. Hopefully you quoted or interviewed some big influencers in your post so you can tag, mention, or email them about your post. If you did a good job, hopefully they’ll share your post with all of their followers.

8. Find Broken Links to Similar Content

Content disappears all the time. Hosting expires, websites expire, and people stop caring. Find broken links to similar content and email the author. Hopefully they’ll be so thankful, they’ll link to your content in place of that broken link.

Hive Digital Inc posted something on Moz called The Broken Link Bible. It’s worth a quick read. It’s filled with lots of great resources on how to find broken links.

9. Ask Co-Workers to Share

Here’s a simple one. Email everyone at work and ask them to share your new post. Not everyone will do this, but many will.

You might want to have a company wide meeting about this so you can prepare your team in the future. If members of your team don’t want to share your content on their personal accounts, maybe they can create new accounts just to support the company.

10. Quickly Respond to all Mentions and Comments

Social media is a two-way street. Conversation should go back-and-forth between you and your target market. Look out for comments and mentions about your article so you can respond accordingly. Once they hear from you, the people you respond to will be much more likely to share and comment on more of your content in the future.

Final Thoughts…

Write less, market more. Content needs a launching platform to help it go viral. If it takes you two hours to write a blog post, spend 6 hours over the next week marketing it. You’ll get more views, more shares, and you’ll have a much higher chance of your content going viral.

Good luck!

Caden Benjamin, from Standerton in South Africa, weighs 14 stone 2lbs (90 kilogrammes) because of his constant overeating.  He has been diagnosed with a genetic disorder called Prader-Willi syndrome, which is characterised by an obsessive compulsion to eat.

His mother Zola Benjamin says it means Caden will eat anything he can get his hands on. ‘At one point, Caden was eating toilet paper. He’d eat rolls of it,’ she said. ‘Actually, he’d eat any paper he would find in the house. If there’s nothing for him to eat, he’ll scrape together the dirt he finds on the floor and eat that.’ Prader-Willi syndrome is a rare, incurable disorder that affects thousands of people worldwide, resulting in physical, mental and behavioural problems.

Ms Benjamin has had to lock all her kitchen cabinets and her fridge and hide all food items in the house.

Caden struggles to move around and even breathe because he is so overweight.

He also suffers bouts of depression because he is unable to live like a normal child.
