One of the most popular Basketball ­games in the world; NBA All-Star is about to hold, and these Nigerian singers are taking the world by the storm.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) on Wednesday, 15th February announced that three (3) Nigerian music artistes; Tems, Burna Boy, and Rema will headline the NBA All-star Game 2023 halftime show.

The show, which is going to be Afrobeats themed, will take place in Utah on Sunday 19th February.

Other artistes that will headline the show include Jewel, Post Malone, and Vin Diesel.

Prior to the game on Sunday, Post Malone will perform a medley of his songs during the first-arena-hosted All-Star draft. Vin Diesel will be the host for the night, announcing all the All-Star games players.

This is definitely a big one for Burna Boy, Tems, and Rema as the NBA All-Star Games is one of the biggest Basketball celebrations.

The Department of State Services (DSS) on Tuesday disclosed that it has identified some key individuals plotting to scamper the May 29 handover to a new government and force an interim government in Nigeria.

According to the DSSin a statement by its spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, the plot by the identified individuals is to set aside the constitution and undermine civil rule, sponsor mass protests as well as plunge the country into an avoidable crisis in order to make way for the planned interim government.

The statement added that the individuals involved in the plot to obtain frivolous court injunctions to forestall the May 29 inauguration of new executive administrations and legislative houses at the Federal and State levels.

The DSS however has promised that it would work with all applicable organizations, individuals, and groups to ensure a seamless and successful inauguration on May 29, 2023, as promised by President MuhammaduBuharito hand over to a new administration of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

The secret police, therefore, warned those plotting to wear away democracy in the country to refrain from their devious schemes and orchestrations.

It also warned stakeholders including judicial authorities, media, and the civil society to be watchful and cautious to avoid being used as instruments to subvert the peace and stability of the nation.

The DSS pledge to continue watching and not hesitant in taking decisive and necessary legal steps against these misguided elements to frustrate their unpleasant intentions.

“The Department of State Services (DSS) has identified some key players in the plot for an Interim Government in Nigeria. The Service considers the plot, being pursued by these entrenched interests, as not only an aberration but a mischievous way to set aside the constitution and undermine civil rule as well as plunge the country into an avoidable crisis. The illegality is totally unacceptable in a democracy and to the peace loving Nigerians.

“This is even more so that the machination is taking place after the peaceful conduct of the elections in most parts of the country. The planners, in their many meetings, have weighed various options, which include, among others,to sponsor endless violent mass protests in major cities to warrant a declaration of State of Emergency. Another is to obtain frivolous court injunctions to forestall the inauguration of new executive administrations and legislative houses at the Federal and State levels.
“The DSS supports the President and Commander-in-Chief in his avowed commitment to a hitch-free handover and will assiduously work in this direction. It also supports the Presidential Transition Council and such other related bodies in the States.

“It will collaborate with them and sister security and law enforcement agencies to ensure seamless inaugurations come 29th May, 2023.

“Consequently, the Service strongly warns those organizing to thwart democracy in the country to retract from their devious schemes and orchestrations.

“Stakeholders, notably judicial authorities, media and the Civil Society, are enjoined to be watchful and cautious to avoid being used as instruments to subvert peace and stability of the nation.

“While its monitoring continues, the DSS will not hesitate to take decisive and necessary legal steps against these misguided elements to frustrate their obnoxious intentions.”

Jibrin who was elected to represent Kano State's Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency during a live programme with Channel TV on Wednesday night, explained that the Muslim-Muslim ticket used by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to secure their victory in the February 25, 2023 election, requires that another person of Muslim faith should not be allowed to occupy the third highest political position in Nigeria.

In his words:

 “Anybody that loves this country should not be thinking that the number three man should be a Northern Muslim.

“The appropriate thing, correct thing to do is that that position should go to a southern Christian. And I believe that anybody who wants it the other way round loves himself more than the country.”

Jibrin therefore, suggested that the next Senate President should be from the South-East, the Deputy Senate President should be from North-Central, and the Speaker can go to the North-West.

According to him, the arrangement will promote unity in the country and foster integration.


Senators-elect Ali Ndume (Borno South), Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Orji Uzoh Kalu (Abia), Jibrin Barau (Kano), and Mohammed Sani Musa (Niger) are among those who have expressed interest in becoming the president of the 10th Senate.

A video showing the moment when a seven-story building under construction collapsed in Banana Island in Ikoyi, Lagos State,

It was reported earlier that an unconfirmed number of people were trapped in the building  which collapsed in Lagos on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.

It was also revealed that the structure involved was under construction and what triggered the collapse is currently unknown.

Emergency teams have been deployed to the scene as several workers onsite were trapped in the rubble.

The Lagos Territorial Head of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the incident in a brief update Wednesday evening.
