‘Batman’ and ‘In Like Flint’ star, Jean Hale Coleman has passed on at the age of 82.



Jean who tussled between James Coburn’s character in the spy spoof In Like Flint and portrayed the hatcheck-girl accomplice of David Wayne’s Mad Hatter on TV’s Batman, died of natural causes on August 3. Her family announced her death on Monday September 27.







The late actress was married to actor Dabney Coleman, with whom she had three children; Quincy, Randy and Kelly from 1961 until their 1984 divorce.

A shocking report released Tuesday, October 5, in France has revealed that an estimated 330,000 children were victims of sex abuse within France's Catholic Church over the past 70 years.



The 2,500-page document prepared by an independent commission comes as the Catholic Church in France, and even in other countries brace up to accept its role in sexual abuse worldwide.



The president of the commission that issued the report, Jean-Marc Sauve, said the estimate, based on scientific research, includes abuses committed by priests and others clerics as well as non-religious people involved in the church.



He revealed that about 80% are male victims.



"The consequences are very serious," Sauve said. "About 60% of men and women who were sexually abused encounter major problems in their sentimental or sexual life."



The commission worked two and half years, listening to victims and witnesses and studying church, court, police and press archives as far back as the 1950s. A hotline launched at the beginning of the probe received 6,500 calls from alleged victims or people who said they knew a victim.

The administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has taken a bold initiative towards repositioning the State Ministry of Chieftaincy Matters to play a leading role in enhancing rural participation in governance, peaceful co-existence and access to information concerning various communities in the state with regards to their constitutions and Chieftaincy titles, among others.

Consequently, Gov. Ugwuanyi over the weekend inaugurated a website of gazetted Chieftaincy constitutions of communities in the state. The address of the website is www.mocm.en.gov.ng .

Inaugurating the website, Gov. Ugwuanyi represented by his deputy, Hon. Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, stated that the vision of the present administration in establishing the platform was to afford the people of the state including those in the Diaspora the ample opportunity to access all information concerning various communities.

The governor explained that the innovation will promote transparency and accountability as well as assist in reducing to the barest minimum all disputes and tussles that characterize election of traditional rulers in some communities of the state.

He added that the project is a cloud-based collection of gazetted Chieftaincy constitutions which makes it possible for gazetted Chieftaincy constitutions and other important documents of autonomous communities in Enugu State to be available in the internet and be accessed by the general public such as the government, researchers, citizens, investors, non-governmental organizations and multinational institutions.

“This project will no doubt give the communities a verified and authentic online presence; promote transparency in community leadership; provide guidance in allocation of resources; serve as a tool for peaceful resolutions in the communities and promote human rights community development and community tradition.

“It will also allow internet research engines such as google and yahoo, among others, to easily index these constitutions, thereby making them easily accessible on the internet”, he said.

Earlier in his remarks, the State Commissioner for Chieftaincy Matters, Dr. Charles Egumgbe expressed gratitude to Gov. Ugwuanyi for the time-honoured innovation in the state which he said will go a long way in strengthening his administration’s rural development policy for the greater interest of the rural dwellers.

Dr. Egumgbe who pointed out that communities that are not gazetted are not included in the website, enjoined those not yet gazetted to do so as the website has provision for them.

In his speech, the Chairman of Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Igwe Amb. Lawrence Agubuzu extolled Gov. Ugwuanyi for the epoch-making project, and thanked the governor for approving and funding the website to promote peace, efficiency and transparency in the administration of communities in the state.

Dignitaries at the event include the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Dr. David Ugwunta, Commissioner for Labour and Productivity, Hon. Uchechukwu Ogbonna, and their Culture and Tourism counterpart, Hon. Ugonna Ibe, among others.

The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Babafemi Ojudu has cried out over threats sent to him after he openly said he will not support Bola Tinubu's presidential ambition.

Tinubu is the national leader of the All Progressives Congress. He recently declared interest to contest in the 2023 presidential election.

Ojudu stressed that his decision not to support Tinubu was based on personal conviction, adding that any coercion to do otherwise would not be democratic.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ojudu, who works in the Office of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), said his refusal to support the presidential aspiration of the former Lagos State governor should not portray him as a betrayer.

According to the statement titled, ‘Principled Political Choices are not Betrayal’, the presidential aide said though he had benefited from Tinubu’s kindness in the past, he was not made by the APC leader.

Ojudu wrote, “The idea that everyone who has related with Tinubu and disagrees with him on this Presidential bid is a traitor and a betrayal is puerile. Many of us, his associates, were not made by him as you also want the world to believe.

 

“We were already made before meeting him and in the cause of relating we gave one another a helping hand… So, on this matter of 2023 I wish him (Tinubu) well but I cannot in good conscience give him my support or cast my vote for him in the coming primary. It is my right. I am above 60 years of age for God sake. I almost died seeking this inalienable democratic rights, held up in detention and severally tortured. Your god is not my god.

 

“Let no one think he can browbeat or blackmail me to do what does not go with my conscience or my ideals. Enough of your phone threats and embarrassment of my family members.”

 

“For the irritants who have been sending threat messages to me and members of my family or calling to abuse me for not supporting Tinubu, do know that is not democracy. It is something else. I spent my youth years fighting autocracy and intolerance of the military and I am still willing and ready, even now, to stand up for what I believe, even if it will cost me my life. Enough said,” he added.

Olusegun Obasanjo

Ex-Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo has declared that he is retired from partisan politics and would not return to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The ex-president, who renounced his membership of the party in 2015, stated this when he received the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu; and other stakeholders who paid him a visit on Saturday in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to sources, the visit was targeted at returning the former president to the opposition party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

But, Obasanjo, while addressing the stakeholders, said he had vowed to remain as a statesman. He, however, said PDP would always be part of his life.

He said, “I’m no longer in partisan politics and there is nothing that can bring back. Anybody who wants my advice, I will always be there in the best interest of Nigeria.

“Whatever I do in my own life…because I became president on the platform of PDP, PDP will continue to be part of my life.

“Since the day I tore my PDP card, that was the day I ceased to be a member of PDP. That day I vowed not to be a member of any political party. I will continue to be a statesman.”

Cheslie Kryst

30-year-old former Miss USA,  Cheslie Kryst has been confirmed dead after she jumped from a skyscraper in New York City on Sunday morning.

Kryst, 30, was a lawyer and also worked as a correspondent for the entertainment show Extra. She won the Miss USA pageant in 2019 using her platform to speak out about social and criminal justice reform.

Kryst, who had an apartment on the ninth floor of the building on West 42nd Street in midtown Manhattan, leaped from the high-rise around 7:15am and was found dead on the sidewalk beneath the 60-story hi-rise.

Only hours before jumping, Kryst wrote on her Instagram page, ‘May this day bring you rest and peace.’

The model had also left a note before ending her life that stated she wanted to leave everything to her mother.

There was no explanation for her actions.

‘Not only beautiful but she was smart — she was a lawyer,’ a police source told the New York Post. ‘She has a life that anyone would be jealous of. … It’s so sad.’

According to Daniel, Tekno will only limit his growth if he writes him another hit song and Davido needs to start writing his songs to maximize originality.

He also asserts that if Tekno continues writing for Davido, he will never grow as an artist as his lyrics aren’t coming from the heart. Daniel added that originality in music matters a lot and he hopes Davido takes his advice by refusing Tekno.

This harsh wake-up call is coming hours after Tekno threatened to sever ties with Davido if he doesn’t include him on his upcoming album.

The move must have shocked social media users who felt Don Jazzy rushed to sign a new artist considering Magixx has only been in the industry for 6 months.

A follower identified as Chenems  tweeted “I thought you just signed Magixx two weeks ago”

Don Jazzy simply informed him that is ‘how the top three Record Label do’. According to Don Baba J, there are many artists waiting to be activated, but he is just unleashing them to the world one at a time.

He also hinted that he might sign another artist tomorrow and no one will tell him what to do because it is his company.
