It’s wrap-up season and this is why TooXclusive is bringing you a list of the hottest albums in the music industry for the year 2022. It has been a very busy year and quite a number of songs and studio albums were released. Nonetheless, we could only select a hand full.

Let’s get into it

1. Mr Money With The Vibe- Asake

Mr Money With The Vibe also called, MMWTV is Asake‘s debut album. It was released on 7 September 2022 and has only 2 guest features; Burna Boy and Russ. MMWTV has 17 tracks. Mr. Money With The Vibe Album, Produced by Magicstick.

The song contains his breakthrough track, Omo Ope, and many other astonishing tunes. The afro-pop singer laced his album with contagious energy and vibes. Most of the songs of the album spent a lot of time topping charts. Although Asake only sprung fully into action after he joined the YBNL family, he has proven his loyalty to this craft. The singer is fully committed to putting out good music and putting smiles on the beautiful faces of his fans globally.

2. Love, Damini – Burna Boy

The body of work, love, Damini is the 6th studio album of Grammy-award-winner, Oluwadamini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy. It’s a project that houses 19-solid tracks, with guest features from both local and international brains. Burna featured the likes of Ed Sheeran, a  British singer, Khalid, Ladysmith Black, Victony to mention a few.

Love, Damini was released in July 2022 and was produced by a couple of talented producers. It also serves as a follow-up to Burna BOy’s Grammy-nominated 2020 album, Twice As Tall.

3. Boy Alone – Omah Lay

Fast-rising Nigerian music star, Stanley Omah Didia came through with his highly-anticipated studio album on the 15th of July. The body of work houses 6 impressive tracks. It will b recalled that Omah Lay got famous during the 2020 lockdown period after Nigerians got subjected to social media majorly.

Many of the songs off Omah Lay’s Boy Alone have topped various charts.
It will also be recalled that Omah Lay shared a few of his dark sides with the public after he spoke up about suffering from depression.

4. Rave & Roses – Rema

Nigerian singer, Rema premiered his debut album, Rave & Roses on the 25th of March 2022 via Jonzing World and Mavin Records. The album included guest appearances from 6lack, Chris Brown, AJ Tracey, and Yseult. It houses 16 tracks, including the raving, Calm Down, Time N Affection, and a host of other impressive records.

Remmy boy, who describes his music genre as “Afrorave” solidly confirms his stance in the music industry, as he vows to be here for a long time. Many of his predecessors, especially Timaya have also described him as their favorite new school artist in the music industry.

5. Love Is Not Enough (Vol 1 & 2) – Young Jonn

Muli-talented Nigerian singer, music producer, and songwriter, Young Jonn excited music lovers after he premiered his debut album titled, Love, Is Not Enough (Vol 1 & 2). A body of work that holds music genres like Afrobeat, Afro-pop, RnB, and Amapiano. Love Is Not Enough (Vol 1 & 2) houses 5 solid tracks like 32, Normally, and his breakthrough song, Dada.

The production credit of the project goes to the likes Smyley, Niphkeys, Young Jonn, Type A & MagicSticks.
This project was released under the imprint of Chocolate city music. It showcases the singer’s versatility, through the lenses of his creativity.

6. Billion Dollar Baby – Seyi Vibez

Following the release of his previous contributions, Seyi, No Vibes EP”, Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi comes through with another infectious body of work tilled, Billion Dollar Baby. is an impressive and inspirational track for fans of Seyi to update their playlist with. The 11-track album goes viral for its hustling vibe – something his fans cannot get enough of.

Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi, whose stage name is Seyi Vibez always lets his fans know that he is going to be here to serve them for a very long time. His energy is quite contagious and his style is like non-other in the street side of the industry currently Not long ago, Seyi got dragged for adopting his new style of music from the likes of Asake, Bella Shmurda, and Olamide to mention a few. However, he shocked naysayers with his clap back, after he noted that none of the new school rappers inspire him.

7. Playboy – Fireboy

Highly revered Afrobeat crooner, Adedamola Adefolahan, also known as Fireboy released his anticipated studio album, Playboy, titled after one of his hit tracks. Playboy is a 13-track album with guest features from the likes of Asake on the chart-topping track, Bandana, British singer, Ed Sheeran, Chris Brown, and a host of others. It’s an album with a mashup of Nigerian R&B, Afropop, and Afrobeats.

Fireboy DML’s debut studio album, Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps (LTG) was released on the 29th of November, 2019. It houses 13 songs with no guest performers. Production credit goes to talents like Cracker Mallo, Echo the Guru, IamBeatz, and P.Prime, Pheelz.

8. More Love, Less Ego – Wizkid

AYodeji Ibrahim Balogun, widely known as Wizkid released his critically acclaimed body of worth, More Love; Less Ego on the 11th of November, 2022. The album, which should have originally been premiered earlier, got pushed back following the tragic demise of Davido’s son, Ifeanyi David Adeleke. More Love; Less Ego houses  13 chart-topping tracks, with guest features from A-list international artists.

The album also serves as a follow-up to Wizkid’s award-winning 2020 project, Made In Lagos. “All the time, I want to show up as my highest self,” he says.
I’m really trying to show how God has blessed me with this talent and what I can do with it. And I’m here on earth to take this to the highest of my abilities.

9. The Second Wave – Ruger

Controversial Afrobeat singer, Micheal Adebayo Olayinka, better known as Ruger decided to whet the petite of music lovers around the world, and especially that of his fans by releasing a 4-track extended play titled, The Second Wave.

This EP serves as his sophomore album, as well as a follow-up to his debut, Pandemic EP. The tracks contain his most famous and chart-topping chart tracks, Dior and Girlfriend.
It will be recalled that the singer shot to fame on the 18th of January, 2021, when D’Prince, Rema, and Don Jazzy took to social media to announce and welcome him to the Jonzing World record label.

10. V – Asa

Veteran Nigerian singer, songwriter, record producer, and performer, Bujola Elemide, widely known as Asa quenched the 3-year-long thirst of her fans with her highly-anticipated studio album titled, “V”.The album “V” features creatives like Wizkid, The cavemen, and Amarae. An album that serves as a follow-up to her 2019 body of work, “Lucid”. “V” portrayed a different side to her and houses 10 solid tracks, and serves as the singer’s 5th studio album.

Shedding light on the album, Asa said: V is about happiness, love, friendship, and lots of joy, It’s fresh and modern, but it’s also something you’re familiar with. I’m simply expressing being with the flow of things. Writing V songs at home meant the soil, air, food, and sun all made contributions to the creation of this album, The album was written entirely in front of the water and that definitely contributed greatly to the songs because I was so calm. That solitude I love is something you’ll hear a lot on V.”

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, on Friday said the Boko Haram terrorist group “is a colonial asset”.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the former presidential aspirant said the terrorists are in Africa “to steal and plunder our resources”.

Garba was reacting to a video posted on Thursday by a Twitter user who claimed that a French and Canadian were among the Boko Haram fighters killed by Nigerien forces.

This newspaper cannot immediately verify when the video was first taken.

 The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has won six out of the seven local government areas of Katsina State already collated.

INEC has so far announced the results of Saturday’s election in seven local government areas out of the 34 local government areas in the state.

The collation of results is being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission collation center in Katsina.

Tinubu has polled a total of 82,332 votes across the six local government areas which he has won so far.

His closes rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has polled 69,175, with Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) coming behind him with a total of 8,629 votes. Mr Tinubu, however, won Matazu LGA with 12,008 ahead of Atiku who got 9,644 and Mr Kwankwaso who polled 415.

In Kaita LGA, APC got 14,595, PDP 11,793 and NNPP 799.

In Musawa LGA, APC got 14,360, PDP 10,603 and NNPP 2,033.

In Ingawa, APC topped with 12,315, PDP 12,152 and NNPP 3,388.

In Charanci, APC got 12,779, Atiku 8,020 and NNPP 609.

In Dutsi, APC polled 9,258 votes, PDP 8,074 and NNPP 289.

Results collation is ongoing

A former presidential aide to Ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has said presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the just conducted February 25th election, Peter Obi has no path to victory.

The presidential poll produced former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu as the winner of the keenly contested election, as announced by Nigeria’s electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 8,794,726 and was declared President-Elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The former Lagos State governor came out tops in 12 of Nigeria’s 36 states, and secured significant numbers in several other states to claim the highest number of votes — 8,794,726, almost two million votes more than his closest rival — former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Atiku, 76, who has now run for president six times, got 6,984,520 votes, while Peter Obi, who in less than a year, galvanised young voters in a manner some have described as unprecedented finished the race with 6,101,533 in the third spot.

Atiku and Obi have since rejected the outcome of the election. Videos and pictures from all sorts of electoral malpractice supposedly from the poll flooded social media.

Both Atiku and Obi have also since commenced legal redress of the poll.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Reno Omokri, who has been very critical of the former Anambra governor wondered what exactly Obi is going to court for.

According to Reno Omokri, it should have dawned on the LP presidential candidate that Tinubu “used him.”

He argued that Obi has no path to victory, either through the courts or election.

The ex-presidential aide, however, said Obi has the number but lacks the spread.

He wrote, “Peter Obi came third. Exactly what is he going to court for? To ask to be declared winner, or to cancel the election?

“Has it not dawned on him that Tinubu used him? He has no path to victory, either via courts or election. He has numbers. He lacks spread.”

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye has averred that politicians are using tribe as an excuse to cover their evil.

Peter Okoye stated this in a tweet on his official Twitter handle on Wednesday afternoon.

The BBNaija winner is wrathful with Inyama over a comment she made about a statement he posted on his verified Instagram page.

In the video, Whitemoney stated ‘that no woman is out of a man’s league. All he has to do is make money, play the games and they would follow.’

Annoyed by the post, Inyama stated that the reality TV star is a depiction of his mother and those who raised him. She commented, “Including his mother and sisters… When a child is raised by a ‘type’ of mother… it is only typical he projects his disgust of his mother by generalizing all women to be like his mom… but we are not like her…”

“I made an honest statement of which most of you that are coming for me if you look. What I am saying, 90 per cent of it is fact. But because you want to trend, you come into the comment section and say what you like.

The comedian was clearly excited about the kiss, and the BBNaija star made a face after they were done as the congregation cheered them on.

Popular comedian and skitmaker, Sabinus was also spotted in the video donning a “best man suit” with his mouth wide open, making a funny face.

Shamseddin Giwa, a Nigerian man, has shared a heartfelt account of how he and his wife relocated abroad in search of a better life, only to face immense hardships that eventually compelled them to return home.

In a series of Twitter posts, Giwa candidly narrated the challenges they encountered while abroad and expressed gratitude for finding everything they had been seeking in Nigeria.

Giwa's narrative shed light on the untold realities of their relocation experience as a young couple. He explained that despite their initial hopes and good intentions, they were unprepared for the difficulties they would face. Starting off in a shared flat, they lived in a single room and were subjected to restrictions on basic amenities, such as using the washing machine or heater.

The couple faced demeaning and exhausting jobs, while the unfavorable exchange rate of their home currency created a false impression of financial stability. Despite their combined incomes, it was still a struggle to live an average life. Giwa emphasized that their situation was relatively better than others, highlighting the severity of the circumstances faced by many migrants.

The demanding work schedules left little time for the couple to spend together, straining their marriage. Giwa also highlighted the challenges faced by couples separated from their spouses back home, enduring even more significant hardships.

Constantly at the mercy of changing immigration policies, they never felt truly settled. Eventually, they made the decision to return home and quietly start over.

Giwa concluded his account by expressing gratitude for the opportunities that unfolded upon their return to Nigeria, realizing that everything they had sought abroad was granted to them back home. He urged others to carefully consider the potential difficulties of relocation and to have a solid exit plan in place, emphasizing that many individuals and marriages suffer due to unanticipated pressures.

 One Taiwo Ishola has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping and killing two sons of his younger brother, Idowu, at Abata village in Abeokuta. 

Ishola reportedly committed the dastardly act in a bush in the Mile 6 area of Ajebo, in Abeokuta.

It was gathered that his younger brother by the name Idowu raised alarm after he discovered that his children, nine-year-old Promise, and seven-year-old Testimony, were missing.

The PUNCH reports that an anonymous source close to the family told it on Tuesday that the children were discovered missing last weekend and they were last seen with Taiwo.

“Idowu started looking for Promise and Testimony. After a search in the community, somebody told us that they were last seen with his brother, Taiwo, but since they are brothers, nobody suspected anything,” the source said. 

"It was after their father still didn’t see them after some time that everybody became suspicious. Their father was advised to inform the police before it would be too late. I’m still surprised that the lives of innocent children were cut short just like that.”

Another resident in the community, identified as Iya Alimat, said members of the the community were shocked when they found out that the children were killed.

"It happened on Saturday, but when they did not see the children, they started searching and people said it was Taiwo that took the boys away.

"On Saturday, we got the news that the children had been killed. Their father, after looking everywhere for them and could not find them, decided to inform the police and that was when the matter was exposed. How will somebody do that to his brother? We don’t know why he did it. Until we know, I can’t say much about it. But the man should face the wrath of the law.

Ogun State Police Command spokesman, Omolola Odutola, while confirming the incident said the police immediately went after Taiwo, he later confessed to committing the offence.

 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has reached to the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).

The former Rivers State Governor says election petitions are not won on social media but decided by facts and evidences.

Wike while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Thursday commended the Presidential Election Petitions Court for affirming the victory of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25, presidential poll.

Giving reasons why he did not support his party, the PDP and its flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar at the Tribunal, he said:

 “Because I believe their position was wrong; I believe in equity, I believe in fairness, I believe in justice.”

“I have always told people that election petition is not like any other case; it’s a special area; it is not by propaganda, it is not won on social media, it is presentation of evidence, facts.

“I sat down for not less than 10 hours. Look at how the justices painstakingly took each item one by one, from the preliminary objections to the motions, down to the objections on documents and exhibits, down to substantial issues,” the minister said.

The FCT Minister said there was no need for the petitioners – Atiku; the PDP; the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi – to appeal the judgment because the Tribunal “affirmed” the will of Nigerians.

 Nollywood actor Kolawole Ajeyemi spread holiday cheer this Christmas by sharing an adorable family photo on social media. In a recent interview on Cool FM Nigeria, Lagos, singer Timi Dakolo made it clear that he does not consider himself a gospel artist. Dakolo emphasized his diverse musical style, expressing that he cannot be confined to a specific genre.

Responding to the host's question about being categorized as a gospel musician, Dakolo stated, "I am not, by any chance. I always say to people, ‘Is there a gospel banker or architect?’ It is you that decided that is what you want to do. Art is art. I am just an artist. In fact, I am not an artist; I am a creator of art."

Dakolo highlighted the versatility of his music, citing examples like 'Great Nation' and 'Wish Me Well,' which he noted are not wedding songs. He further explained, "You cannot box my music into a particular genre. I am much more than a wedding singer. If you listen to my new album, you are going to hear that [my diversity]. ‘Men Of The South’ is a song about cultural pride."

He clarified that while he performs at gospel events, it's because of his Christian faith, not necessarily defining his entire music career. The singer's comments underscore his commitment to artistic freedom and the multifaceted nature of his musical expression.

Habeeb Okikiola, famously known as Portable, sparked controversy as he embroiled actress Iyabo Ojo in his feud with the faceless gossip blog, Gistlover. In a fiery Instagram Live session, Portable directly addressed Gistlover, accusing the platform of meddling in his private affairs.

Expressing frustration, Portable alleged that Gistlover had shielded Iyabo Ojo from negative publicity while targeting him unfairly. He called on Iyabo Ojo to provide him with Gistlover's contact details, threatening legal repercussions for what he perceived as biased reporting.

Portable's statement encapsulated his resolve: "If I know the address this morning, by night, the owner of the blog would be dead in prison." This declaration underscored the seriousness of his intentions. Furthermore, Portable advised his wives to steer clear of social media, highlighting the intrusion into his personal life and urging for privacy.
