Femi Fani-Kayode’s lawyer has reacted to allegations levelled against Big Brother Naija star, Jackie B’s mother, Senator Grace Bent in the wake of the ongoing custody battle between the former Minister of Aviation and his ex-partner, Precious Chikwendu.

IgbereTV recalls that Precious shared a video on Instagram alleging that FFK is desperate to see her behind bars following false criminal charges filed against her and her sister. One of the criminal charges according to her, was allegedly filed by the former minister and BBNaija’s Jackie B’s mother, Senator Grace Bent, who allegedly told the police that Precious planned to assassinate her.

FFK’s lead counsel, Ibikunle Ayodeji who has now responded to the allegation, stated that regardless of political connections, “Senator Grace Bent does not meddle in the private affairs of Chief Femi Fani- Kayode, neither does she volunteer any advice on how he should run his family business.”

Ayodeji further averred that Senator Grace Bent does not dabble into the home affairs of Chief Femi Fani- Kayode and she has no power to do so as she is a mother and grandmother who has her family to take care of.

Insisting that no one can dictate to FFK or manipulate him, the lawyer also added that the “vicious and libellous slander and falsehood levelled against Senator Bent’s daughter, Jackie B, is particularly repugnant and disgraceful.”

Ayodeji stated that “Jackie B is a well-brought up and decent young lady who is a well-respected public figure and celebrity in her own right and who has achieved so much at such an early age.”

He concluded by stating that the Bents are “decent, loving, honorable and law-abiding people who should not be subjected to the kind of wickedness that we are witnessing”.

Savage Posts On The Well Respected Senator Grace Bent and Her Family.

We are solicitors to Chief Femi Fani- Kayode. Our attention has been drawn to a series of posts making rounds on the internet.

The said posts heavily denigrate the well respected Senator Grace Bent and her entire household.

The deep rooted animosity which reflects in the post, can be easily connected to her association with Chief Femi Fani- Kayode.

A response to the post, which is full of cunningly devised fables, is not necessary at this time.

For the record however, there is a need to reassert the point that, Senator Grace Bent does not dabble into the home affairs of Chief Femi Fani- Kayode and she has no power to do so. Senator Grace Bent is a mother and grandmother and she has her family to take care of.

Regardless of their political connections, Senator Grace Bent does not meddle in the private affairs of Chief Femi Fani- Kayode, neither does she volunteer any advice on how he should run his family business.

Chief Femi Fani-Kayode is a man of conviction and he takes full control of what goes on around him and what happens in his family and household.

No-one can dictate to him, tell him what to do or manipulate him and neither has Senator Grace Bent or any member of her family tried to do so.

It is unfortunate that the Bent family is being attacked by persons with unknown pedigrees and a disillusioned mindset.

The vicious and libellous slander and falsehood levelled against Senator Bent’s daughter, Jackie B, is particularly repugnant and disgraceful.

This is a well-brought up and decent young lady who is a well-respected public figure and celebrity in her own right and who has achieved so much at such an early age.

Senator Bent and her husband, Chief Jackson Bent, who is a highly respected retired Army officer and who has served our nation diligently and selflessly, are worthy of double honour and our client will not cease to accord them same, just like every other well- meaning Nigerian.

In the light of the above it is important that our client should clear the air on the savage posts, which are not only distracting, but also intended to muddle the waters.

The suspected kidnappers

Two suspected kidnappers have been arrested by men of the Ogun State police command.

The duo were accused of terrorizing Ijebu-Ode and its environ.

The suspects, Samuel Oke Abiodun ‘m’ 46yrs and Denis Blessing ‘m’ 28yrs were arrested following a series of Kidnap cases in Ijebu-Ode, consequent upon which the commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, gave a marching order to all the DPOs in Ijebu-Ode to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act within the shortest possible time.

Confirming their arrest, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the DPO Igbeba division Csp Musiliu Doga and his crack detectives embarked on a technical and intelligence-based investigation which subsequently led to the arrest of Denis Blessing on the 8th of December 2021 in his house at Ijebu-Ode.

His arrest and confession led to the apprehension of Samuel Oke Abiodun in his hideout also at Ijebu-ode

''On interrogation, the two suspects confessed to having participated in four different kidnap operations in Ijebu-Ode. They confessed to being part of a syndicate that kidnapped one Alhaja Salam Mojisola on the 6th of December 2021 at the entrance of her house situated at Akinsanya Street Mobalufon Ijebu-Ode.

They also confessed to the kidnapping of one Mrs Olaitan Daodu on the 26th of January 2021. Also, one Mrs Abimbola Bolanle Lateefat, the Deputy Director I.C.T department at Tai Solarin University of Education was also kidnapped by the gang on the 20th of May 2021. They also participated in kidnapping one Mrs Adegoke along Atan-Ijebu road.

 

According to the duo, their own assignment is to scout around, identify and monitor their would-be victim from their business places to their houses, and inform other members of the gang who will then block the victim mostly at the entrance of their houses and abduct such person.'' Oyeyemi said

The Toyota Camry with registration number GGE 200 FN which is their operational vehicle has also been recovered.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole who commended the resilience of his men in smashing the syndicate has ordered the transfer of the suspects to the anti-kidnapping unit of the State criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation. The CP also directed a massive manhunt for remaining members of the syndicate with the view to bring them to justice. He also assured the good people of Ogun State of police readiness to fish out any criminal hibernating within the State.

A Kano State High Court has restrained the Kano State Government from carrying out construction work on the disputed Kofar Wambai Market in the state.

Justice Aisha Ya’u gave the order Friday while hearing a suit filed by some of the traders against the government.

The judge said that the order would remain pending the hearing and determination of the suit, next year.

She directed that both parties should maintain the status quo on the disputed land.

Addressing the court, counsel to the traders, Sadiq Abbdullahi, alleged that the government had laid the foundation for the construction of shops on the disputed land.

The traders, led by Ibrahim Yakasai, had approached the court on December 22 to stop the government’s plan to erect more shops in the congested market.

“An order is granted that parties shall stop all action on disputed land and maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the substantive motion on notice.

“The matter is adjourned to 24/01/2022,” Friday’s court order stated.

Traders at the Kofar Wambai market had on Wednesday morning protested against the erection of more shops by the Kano government.

The protesters, who converged at the Sani Buhari line of the market, defied multiple gunshots by security officials who shot into the air to disperse them.

A 35-year-old man, Eluyera Wasiu has been arrested by men of Ogun state police command for allegedly planning to kill his 29 year old pregnant wife, IgbereTV reports.

The suspect and his accomplice, Adeniyi Samuel, were arrested following a distress call received by the DPO Ogijo divisional headquarters from concerned members of the public on the 1st of January 2022, that the two men were engaging themselves in a very serious physical combat at oponuwa area of Ogijo, and if they were not quickly arrested, it may lead to bloodshed.

Upon the distress call, the DPO Ogijo division, CSP Muhammed Baba, quickly detailed his men to the scene, where the two suspects were promptly arrested.

It was during interrogation to know the cause of the fight that Adeniyi Samuel opened up and informed the police that Eluyera Wasiu contracted him to kill his pregnant wife, one Bola Taiwo. He stated further that Eluyera Wasiu promised to give him #10,000 for the job, out of which he had already given him #5,000, to pay the balance on completion of the job.

Confirming the incident, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesperson of the state police command, said preliminary investigation revealed that, Wasiu Eluyera was married to Bola Taiwo but they got separated due to irreconcilable differences. Wasiu later got married to another woman who is presently living with him.

”Somehow, he met with his former wife and they started going out together again which resulted to pregnancy. In order not to upset his new wife, Wasiu asked Bola Taiwo to terminate the pregnancy but the suggestion that was rejected by Bola Taiwo. Having tried all he could to abort the pregnancy to no avail, Wasiu Eluyera decided to eliminate the woman and the pregnancy.

In his confessional statement, he stated that he had twice bought food for her from one eatery and laced the food with poison, but the lady by providence did not eat the food. It was when all his personal efforts to kill her failed that he contracted Adeniyi Taiwo to help him eliminate her. He confessed further that, he personally took Adeniyi to the woman’s house, and he gave him her picture for easy identification.

But when he didn’t carry out the assignment as agreed, he demanded for the refund of the advance payment he made to him, and his refusal led to the fight which eventually led to their arrest,” Oyeyemi said.

The police spokesperson added that the state Commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered a full-scale investigation of the case with the view to arraign the suspect in court as soon as investigation is concluded.

Like many, Princess Eugenie has been reflecting on the year that has just ended, and she shared some gorgeous photos of some of her major moments.

One massive event for the royal this year was that she welcomed her first child, August with her husband Jack Brooksbank. In November, August was christened at the Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor, at an event that was attended by Her Majesty following concerns about her Majesty's health.

Human rights lawyer and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana has hinted of a massive coverup concerning the death of Dowen college student, Sylvester Oromoni (Jnr).

Speaking in an interview with Channels TV today January 10, Falana who is the counsel to the Oromoni family, said this while reacting to the recent press statement by Lagos police commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, who said that the autopsies carried out on Sylvester's body indicated he died a natural death. As you are well aware, by our culture, if  you lose a loved one, to break the news, sometimes the school authorities would engage the services of imams or pastors to meet the parents and break the news. You don't go on air to members of the public 'Oh the boy they claimed was poisoned. Nothing happened to him. He died naturally''. What do you mean by natural causes? Cancer? Heart attack? There is no mention of natural in the report. The commissioner cannot say that Sylvester died of Natural causes because what are natural causes? Heart attack, stroke, cancer and so on and so forth. 

But if a boy took ill, you claim he was injured on the football pitch but the boy before his death told the parents 'I was given to drink a concoction by those who wanted to force me to join a secret society on campus' 

Doctors would be expected to eliminate this allegations and the first report concluded and stated very clearly that the boy died of acute lung injury due to chemical intoxication.

A doctor would not write such a report if he hasn't seen anything. No doctor in the world, unless you want to play with your license, would state categorically the cause of death that can be questionned.

The parents have asked for the second autopsy report, it has not been made available. The parents are reading about this other report. On their behalf as lawyers, we have applied for certified true copies, it has not been made available to us. 

We are going to establish evidence of a massive cover-up. You say there wasn’t evidence that there was a secret society. How? We searched the suspect and didn’t find any tattoo, we didn’t find any insignia. Is that how to prove evidence of a secret society?” he said

Baby, Three Others Freeze To Death While Attempting To Cross From Canada Into US

The lifeless bodies of four persons including an infant have been discovered by the Canadian police in a snowy field near the US border.

The group of four died from exposure due to the frigid cold, which dropped to -35C (-31F) with wind chill.

The bodies of a man, a woman, a teenage boy and an infant were found near Emerson, Manitoba, on Wednesday, January 19.

US officials say the dead are believed to be from India. They are thought to have been attempting to cross into the US.

Manitoba Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Assistant Commissioner, Jane MacLatchy shared the discovery with reporters in a news conference on Thursday, January 20.

"What I am about to share is going to be difficult for many people to hear," she said, calling it "an absolute and heartbreaking tragedy".

Around 09:30 local time (15:30 GMT) on Wednesday, Canadian police were alerted that a US Customs and Border Patrol team had arrested a group that had crossed from the area, which is a known illicit border crossing site.

"A US official told the Canadian team that one man was discovered with items for an infant, but that no child was found with him."

"A search was launched on both sides of the US-Canada border, and the group was discovered around 13:30 about nine to 12 metres from the US border. Crews using snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles continued to search the deep snow until late Wednesday evening."

Ms MacLatchy said that the group was "on their own in the middle of a blizzard" and "faced not only the cold weather but endless fields, large snowdrifts and complete darkness".

Later on Thursday, US federal officials in Minnesota announced human smuggling charges against 47-year-old Florida resident Steve Shand.

Mr Shand was found driving a 15-person van in a rural area along the border with cases of food and water in his boot. Two passengers with him were found to be undocumented migrants from India, US officials say.

As they were being transported to a border patrol station, the US agents encountered a group of five Indian citizens who said they had been walking for 11 hours and had been expecting to be picked up by someone.

One of them was carrying a backpack containing children's clothes, toys and medication. He said he was carrying it for a family of four, but they "had become separated in the night".

Based on the description, the bodies found in Canada have been tentatively identified as the family from India, the US statement says.

The RCMP's Ms MacLatchy urged "anyone who's thinking of crossing the border in Manitoba, either heading south or north: just don't do it".

"Do not listen to anyone who tells you they can get you to your destination safely. They cannot. Even with proper clothing it is not a journey that is possible."

The police officials say it is rare to see people crossing from Canada southbound into the US. Most immigrants will rather stay in Canada than the US
