Nigeria at 56: Nigerians not ready for Change – Charlyboy by Whatelse(m) : 5:30 am On Oct 03 |
Showbiz mogul, Charlyboy, also known as
AreaFada, on Saturday shared his thoughts on the current state of the nation as it marked its Independence Day celebration. He expressed disappointment in Nigerians, not the leadership of the country, categorically noting that there was nothing presently worth celebrating in the country, except the gift of life which is God’s doing. The outspoken media personality in a chat with the Punch said, “What are we celebrating? The only thing a Nigerian can be thankful for at this time is the gift of life. All that is happening to us is our fault. “Every time we put the blame on the leaders, what about the followers? These leaders are not from Ghana or Togo; they are from among us. If we don’t look like them, we should have resisted the policies that put us in this kind of hopelessness and frustration. “But it is because we look like them, somehow we have the same mindset and we are waiting for our own turn to embezzle when the opportunity comes, that is why this situation is never going to change. “Mark my words; it is going to get worse before it gets better. If the masses have become sheep, why are you blaming the leaders for being wolves? “The president keeps saying he is fighting corruption; maybe it is true that he is fighting corruption but he is the only one shouting the propaganda. I don’t see his ministers and cabinet members say the same thing. “Do they believe in that? They are fighting corruption; are they saying that they have not been able to prosecute and imprison one corrupt person so far? After one year? “Do we want to be deceived all our lives? It is not about Buhari or Goodluck, what about us? We are very bad people and until we change, things would not get better. The change is not going to come from above or from Buhari, it would come when we change the way we think and hold our leaders accountable for all the wrongs they have done. “Until we are ready for that, then nothing would change because these people know that poverty has messed up the way we think. There is nothing to celebrate except for us being alive and for that, say thank God. But for how long would we do this?†he asked.

Ondo APC calls Oke’s defection a blessing in disguise by Whatelse(m) : 5:37 am On Oct 03 |
The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo
State has stated that the defection of a former governorship aspirant of the party, Chief Olusola Oke to Alliance for Democracy, AD, will not affect the chances of the party in the November 26 gubernatorial poll. It said it would rather completely collapse the already sinking Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, where it is believed that he has a chunk of his supporters. The party made this known through its State Publicity Secretary, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, disclosing that none of the party’s core members joined Oke in defecting to AD. APC added that the former governorship aspirant’s defection did not take the party by surprise as they generally believe that a Leopard will never change its spot. It also revealed that the party leadership, particularly those in the Southwest have never for once trusted Oke’s claim that he is done with the PDP. It noted that it was one of the reasons he was moving from one media house to another pledging his loyality to the party and promising not to defect from APC if he did not get the party’s ticket. It stressed that while Oke was wearing the cloth of APC, they still believed that the blood of PDP runs in his vein. Nigeria risks renewed oil supply curbs by Whatelse(m) : 7:22 pm On Oct 04 |
Abuja - If the Nigerian government wants to
fight militants blowing up oil pipelines, it should send troops into the creeks and mangrove swamps of the Niger River delta. Not the city. That’s the suggestion of Babalola Olarewaju, a taxi driver who plies the airport route in Port Harcourt, the largest city in the restive oil-rich region. "We’re talking about people who blow up pipelines in the night and then disappear," said Olarewaju, 41, as he perched on the hood of his rickety cab outside the Le Meridien Hotel in the city centre, referring to three T-72 tanks, Nigeria’s main battle tank, parked about a mile away. "What has a tank got to do here in the city?" Dozens of tanks and 3 000 more troops have joined existing forces in and around Port Harcourt in the past month; a sign the government is pulling out the stops to quell a new wave of violence in Africa’s second-largest oil producer. Shehu Of Borno : Boko Haram Insurgency Setback To Western Education by Whatelse(m) : 7:26 pm On Oct 04 |
The Shehu of Borno , Alhaji
Abubakar Ibn Garbai, has said the Boko Haram insurgency is a great setback to western education in the state. Garbai stated this when he received members of the senior course of the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information in his palace in Maiduguri on Monday , the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports. The Shehu noted that before the advent of the Boko Haram insurgency , some people were hesitant in embracing western education as they concentrated in Qur’anic education . Garbai added although various administrations in the state had been able to convince the people on the advantages of western education, massive destruction of schools by the insurgents had caused great setback . “ The Boko Haram insurgents have further worsened our condition in terms of western education†, NAN quoted the Shehu of Borno as saying at the forum . Timipre Sylva denies owning 48 houses , says he owns only 3 in Abuja by Whatelse(m) : 7:32 pm On Oct 04 |
Former Bayelsa state governor , Timipre Sylva,
has denied media reports that the EFCC has returned 48 houses seized from him while carrying out investigations into allegations of misappropriation of funds while he was in office . In a statement released yesterday by his media adviser, Doifie Buokoribo , the former governor stated that there was no time the courts confirmed his ownership of such property. “ We have read a report in a national newspaper, which was reproduced by a few online publications and in the social media , claiming that Chief Timipre Sylva had ‘ retrieved 48 of his properties which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission seized during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan. We view this report with disgust, given its unconcealed speculation and vindictiveness regarding such a sensitive matter . For the avoidance of doubt , Sylva does not own 48 buildings in Abuja or anywhere in the world. So the issue of reclaiming ‘ 48 houses ’ does not arise . He has only three houses in Abuja , which he built before he became the governor of Bayelsa State. This point has been made several times before , and neither EFCC nor those who had used EFCC as a tool of persecution against Sylva during the Goodluck Jonathan administration have contradicted this fact. EFCC had taken their allegations of property ownership against Sylva to several courts without establishing anything against the former governor during the Jonathan era. I Discovered My Wife Lied About Her Age After 3 Years Of Our Marriage. Help! by Whatelse(m) : 7:41 pm On Oct 04 |
My marriage to my wife is facing a serious
challenge , after I discovered from my wife’ s WAEC certificate , that the date of her birth on the result is 6 years more than what she told me and what has been in all her non academic documents, including her C . V . Actually , i have seen all her academic certificates , including her NYSC discharge certificate , but never saw her S. S . C . E and FSLC results that normally bear dates of birth. Each time i ask her for them in order to compile all the credentials for job application purposes , she would tell me that her WAEC , NECO and primary school results are in a box, with her mum in thier home town ; that she would ask her mum to bring them. I gnomo her mum lager came with them for her . Eventually , a serious sure job came for which i would need these credentials to forward to the organization . She gave me the WAEC result with the excuse that age forgot the NECO and FSLC in her current office , which she promised to bring . Lol and behold ! What i saw on the WAEC result is a date of birth 6 years higher than what she told me and what is in her C . Vs . I called her attention and she started giving me excuses that hold no water. She is saying that the same DOB were erroneously registerd for her when, perhaps they were registering her for both WAEC and NECO . That when the results came out and she noticed the errors , she complained and applied to correct same , but since then, the exam authorities have not corrected them. I have not come to terms with the this discovery . I think this may cause us peace , thrust and love in pur marriage. My brothers and sisters , i think am contemplating of what action to take against her and am contemplating a divorce , but our two children are still very small for this . I want to report this issue to her family and mine . Am gradually withdrawing my trust for her . I need matured advice and suggestions that will see me through this .

Jibrin threatens to expose more details of corruption in House of Reps by Whatelse(m) : 11:27 pm On Oct 04 |
Undeterred by his 180 legislative days
suspension, the embattled former chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has vowed to expose more instances of corruption in the Green Chamber. Jibrin told journalists in Abuja that apart from the allegations has already submitted to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), he would be speaking in the days ahead about how members of some investigative committees committee corruption. "On the issue of systemic corruption [in the House of Representatives], in the next few days, I will be talking about how investigative committees are used to perpetuate corruption in the House," Jibrin said. Jibrin was suspended on September 28 by the House after being indicted for allegedly bringing members of the lower chamber into disrepute. The House also directed that Jibrin will not be able to hold any position of responsibility for the span of the current National Assembly as part of the punitive measures and would not be paid salaries for the duration of his suspension. The decision, which got the endorsement of the lawmakers without a single dissenting voice, followed the adoption of the report of the Committee on Ethics and Privileges Committee, headed by Ossai Nicholas Ossai. Jibrin had alleged the Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, and three other principal officers were corrupt and called for their resignation and prosecution. But the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges said in its report that Jubrin’s statements were denigrating to the House as an institution. The report further said that the action of Jubrin amounted to an infraction of section 21 and 24 of the legislative House.
