A yet-to-be identified gunmen on Friday killed a member of Ebubeagu operatives in Mkpuma Ekwa-oku, a community in Izzi Local Government Area of the Ebonyi State, Nigeria’s South-East, Igbere TV has learnt.
The victim, identified as Sunday Izhikpa, was shot dead on Friday at his duty post in the area.
A resident in the area, Victor Ogbaga, who spoke with reporters in Abakaliki, said the slain ma hailed from Nduakparata Igbeagu Community in the council area of the state.
“He was killed by the gunmen at his duty post, Mkpuma Ekwa-oku in Izzi.
“His corpse has been evacuated from the scene, where he was murdered this morning,†Mr Ogbaga stated, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The police spokesperson in the state, Chris Anyanwu, confirmed the killing of the operative.
He also confirmed that the victim was shot on Friday morning by the gunmen.
“Yes, I have called the personnel of Ebubeagu and he said that the attack was true,†said Mr Anyawu, a superintendent of police.

Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar, has been warned to desist from making defamatory statements against founder and senior pastor of the Omega Fire Ministries (OFM) worldwide, Apostle Johnson Suleman. For quite some weeks now, the Kogi State born thespian has been attacking the personality of the popular cleric alleging his involvement in a romantic relationship with her.
The consistent attacks by Halima, which have pitched her against some of her colleagues in the film making industry who felt her statements were borne out of a sense of frustration and sheer attempt at blackmailing, has caught the attention of Apostle Suleman who did not only deny the allegation but also caused his legal counsel to write the actress to stop the attacks forthwith.
In a letter titled ‘Defamatory Statements Concerning Apostle Johnson Suleman; Notice to Cease and Desist’, dated 28th September 2022, Apostle Suleman cautioned Halima Abubakar to discontinue her attacks on his personality or risk being dragged before the court of law.
“Dear Ms Halima Abubakar,
Our client is an Apostle and Senior Pastor of the Omega Fire and Miracle Ministry International, with branches in all states of Nigeria and several countries of the world. By virtue of his Apostolic calling and reach he has several millions of followers who look up to him and his ministry for spiritual guidance and direction,†writes Ephesis Lex, a legal firm representing Apostle Suleman’s interests.

Further, the letter reads; “it is our brief that you caused to be published malicious, defamatory and demeaning statements about our client in several micro-blog sites, chiefly Gistlover, and your Instagram handle @halimabubakar, which have wider reach within Nigeria and the world.
The statements, with their imputations, include the following;
“Shan, you said you don’t think I am smart? lol ask sule. At your big age Am glad gistlover sent dat list. Thank you gistlover for calling me out. I for dey lie and lie for sule. Never. God bless you gistlover. But your list small for real! Johnson try me.â€
“But don’t worry about me. But you can hold Johnson Suleman responsible just in case. You can’t do anything though. Nigerians be aware. If anything happens Johnson is you.â€
A source at the OFM headquarters told this medium that Apostle Suleman may consider slamming the actress with a N1bn (one billion naira) suit should she fail to stop attacking him within 72 hours from the date of the letter.
The federal government of Nigeria is looking at buying China’s newly-certified C919 passenger jet, which is worth over $99 million or N42 billion, IgbereTV reports
The Minister of Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika hinted at this over the weekend at the United Nations aviation agency’s triennial assembly in Montreal, Canada.
He also promised that the country’s fledgling carrier Nigeria Air will have around 30 planes by 2025.
Reuters reports that Sirika, while speaking to journalists said the new airline would have a mixture of Airbus (AIR.PA) and Boeing (BA.N) planes, but added the carrier was also willing to look at the Chinese narrowbody jet, which Chinese regulators certified on Friday.
Sirika said, “China and Nigeria (have a) very cordial and friendly relationship with mutual benefits, we haven’t looked at that the new C919. But if it’s as good as the others, then why not,â€

A source told Channels Television that the insurgents struck at the recently reopened Maiduguri-Damboa Road in the early hours of today October 4.

The source said; “The insurgents invaded Njilang at about 2:34 am early Tuesday and opened fire sporadically at fleeing residents, killing three people, and looting shops before setting ablaze residential houses without confrontation.
“The insurgents targeted some trucks conveying foodstuffs and off-loaders, which they succeeded in their mission.â€
Chairman of Chibok Local Government Area, Umar Ibrahim, also confirmed the attack.
He said; “I am aware of the incident in Njilang because it is in my local government and it is unfortunate that Chibok is popular for the wrong reasons.
 “The other incident of IED is not in Chibok, I only heard of it from people who contacted me.†Â
Floods have ravaged some parts of Anambra State, according to Daily Post.
The residents of Anaku, the headquarters of Ayamelum local government area of Anambra have been reprotedly trapped as flood has submerged the community and its environs.
Motorists, residents and visitors to the area could not drive out of the area as the flood overflew the Onitsha/Otuocha/Ayamelum road that leads to the area.
The affected people yesterday called on the state government and other good-spirited individuals to come to their rescue by sending boats to evacuate them as that is the only means left to save their lives.
Although one of the residents, Mr. Paul Nwauba said the flood was an annual occurrence that required a permanent solution, he requested for boats to be sent to the town immediately so as to save people’s lives.
He said: “We have been experiencing this flood every year, but it is worse now as it has submerged the Onitsha/Ayamelum road, thereby trapping those at the local government area, particularly Anaku.
The Ezu river has been submerged too, and the river covered by flood, thereby making it impassable for travellers and residentsâ€..
“Vehicles, including commercial ones that were in Anaku motor park to evacuate farm produce have been trapped for days and as we speak, there is no escape route out of the flood.â€
Another resident Mr. John Anibogu said farmers in the area have lost most of their farm produce to the rampaging flood and called on the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, to send boats to ferry the trapped people out of the place.
Elsewhere at Odekpe in Ogbaru local government area, the people have been lamenting the devastating flood that had sacked most of the residents.
According to a resident, Comrade Peter Okala, many people sleep in rooms that are flooded, while some people construct platforms with planks on which they sleep.
“I swim to and from my house on daily basis with my family. This is not an ideal situation for the people. Unless a permanent solution is put in place, the residents will continue to suffer this every yearâ€, he said.

Temitope Hamzat, a budding Nollywood actress, who is popularly known as BSOLUTION, has spoken about the ills in the industry.
She says that desperation for fame remains a major factor pushing female actors to succumb to s*x for roles.
Hamzat told the News Agency of Nigeria in Abeokuta on Saturday, that it was important for up-and-coming actresses to be disciplined, focused, professional and play by the rules of the industry.
The Yoruba movie actress, who hailed from Oyo State, while sharing her thoughts on s*x-for-roles in the movie industry, condemned the act in its entirety.
The 30-year-old actress, who is a member of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), alleged that some producers and directors often demanded s*x before giving actresses opportunities in their movies.
â€Personally, I have never had to flirt around or date any producer or director to get my roles. I worked hard in every role I played.
â€I like acting naturally, most times; before I joined the movie industry, I like to practise intra-personal acting – acting within myself; it’s so funny but that shows the extent I love the profession. The acting is in me,†she said.
Hamzat urged up-and-coming actresses not to render themselves useless for the sake of getting to the top, saying they must work hard to become successful in the industry.
â€You do not have to be useless yourself before you get to the top. Do not be deceived, your professionalism will speak for you.
“You must work hard to become successful, the veterans you see today had paid the price before getting to the top.
â€Don’t sell yourself out cheaply; at the end of the day, they will appreciate who you are. Respect your dignity and integrity,†she said.
The actress stated that she would start the production of her own movie titled “Tears of Love†soon, saying that the movie would feature popular actors and actresses in the industry.
Hamzat, a graduate of Human Kinetics and Health Education from Olabisi Onabanjo University, said in the next 10 years, she would like to be seen as one of the best actresses in the industry and also a well known movie producer.
The actress who maintained she would never exchange her body for any movie role advised other up-and-coming actresses too to follow suit.
â€I want to appreciate my God and my bosses, Ashimi Eedris, Owolabi Ajasa and others for where I am today,†she said.
Hamzat, however, showered accolades on Nollywood for the milestones the industry had recorded over the years, calling on the government at all levels to give maximum support to the entertainment industry.Â
