Peter Obi has received a warm welcome in Nasarawa State, according to Vanguard.

This is because, ahead of the 2023 general elections, over 35,000 residents of Nasarawa state Saturday rolled out their drums in support of the presidential candidature of the Labour party.

Speaking to Journalists during a town hall meeting with stakeholders and leaders of various support groups of Peter Obi in Lafia, the State Chairman of the party, Alexander Emmanuel said the people of the state were tired with the misrule of the All Progressives Congress led government both at the national and state levels which was why they decided to support the Labour party in 2023.

Emmanuel explained that the 35,000 supporters of the party were members of 27 registered support groups across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state who were on partnership with the support of the party

According to the party Chairman, the support group in collaboration with the party were set to hold a one-million-man march on August 6th, 2022, to sensitise other residents of the state to vote for Labour party and it’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi and other candidates in the 2023 general election.

He said, “As we speak today, Nigeria is in a serious delimma. We are faced with the problem of existential threats. The Nigerian nation has plunged into the multifarious problems of insecurity, unemployment, electricity blackout, comatoes economy, civic stress and widespread poverty.

“These problems are not natural; They are man-made. The past and present managers of our common heritage brought the country to her knees, and brought us to the pitiable state we find ourselves today.

“In 2023, Nigeria needs a leader that will turn things around for the better, and I make bold to say that among the presidential candidates of all the political parties, it is only Peter Obi that has what it takes to move the nation forward.

“But Obi cannot do it alone. He needs our collective support to be able to emerge as President in 2023, so I am urging all residents of Nasarawa state to join us in this struggle for a better Nigeria.”

One of the coordinators of the support groups who spoke on behalf of the others, Wilson Kingsley said they had perfected plans to embark on a door-to-door sensitisation campaign across the 13 LGAs of the state, as soon as campaigns officially begin.

While appealing to other residents of the state to support Peter Obi’s ambition, he expressed confidence that the Labour party presidential candidate and other candidates of the party will emerge victorious in the 2023 elections.

Earlier in her remark, the National Deputy Chairman of the party, Ladi Iliya urged residents of the state who were yet to get their Permanent Voter Cards, to register before the closing date on July 31st, 2022, in order to be able to exercise their franchise in 2023.

“The challenges confronting Nigeria are numerous because we do not have good leaders in office. Our universities have been closed for many months now but they are not worried because their children go to other countries to study. It is so sad that we have such leaders occupying political offices.

“But I am happy that the Independent National Electoral Commission have assured us that our votes will count in 2023. So, I am urging all Nigerians who are yet to get their Permanent Voter Cards, to do so immediately in order for us to vote-in credible leaders into office in the coming elections”, she said.

Nigerian singer, Davido has confirmed rumors that he has another son with Larrisa London.

You might recall in 2020, A  UK model dropped hints that she is expecting a child with Davido. Davido and his team were quick to disregard the news.

The rumor returned when Larrisa London gave birth and the child- Dawson looked so much like Davido. There were also rumors that Davido and Chioma called off their engagement after she found out OBO got another woman pregnant.

For two years, Davido denied the existence of his son until this evening, when Davido was caught on camera carrying Dawson in Pastor’s Tobi Church.

The Brooklyn McDonald’s worker who was shot in the neck during a quarrel over cold fries has died, cops announced Friday, August 5.

Matthew Webb, 23, “succumbed to his injuries” after he was shot Monday, August 1, outside the Bedford-Stuyvesant fast-food restaurant where he worked, the NYPD said.

The attack “has been deemed a homicide,” the force said early Friday, adding that “the investigation remains ongoing.”

Victim

Webb was working at the Fulton Street eatery on Monday evening when a customer, Lisa Fulmore, complained to workers that her fries were cold and asked to speak to a manager.

This led to a spat and Lisa Fulmore was FaceTiming with her son Michael Morgan during the disagreement.

Morgan then rushed to the restaurant and got into a fight with Webb.

Morgan punched Webb in the face and when he got back up, he pulled out a gun and shot him in the neck.

Webb was taken to a hospital and succumbed to his injuries days later.

Michael Morgan, 20, had already been charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm for blasting Webb in anger at his mom getting served cold fries.

Shooter

He is expected to face upgraded homicide charges, prosecutors told a court hearing Thursday, August 4, even before Webb’s death was confirmed.

The suspect’s girlfriend, Camellia Dunlap, has also been charged with weapons possession for allegedly handing Morgan the gun.

She was arraigned later on Wednesday, August 3, and held on $50,000 cash bail, after prosecutors said she admitted to possessing the gun..

Morgan was also charged with an earlier murder after allegedly confessing during questioning about the McDonald’s shooting.

He allegedly killed Kevin Holloman in October 2021.

Authorities in New York are searching for four robbers who stole jewelry worth around $2.15 million from a jewelry store over the weekend.

Police said it took a group of thieves about 30 seconds from start to finish to steal the jewelry from a store in the Bronx.

The robbery happened at Rocco’s Jewelry in the Bronx on Friday, August 5, at around 2:30 p.m. The business estimates that they lost $2.15 million worth of merchandise in the heist.

Surveillance video shows one of the suspects  approaching the store before waiting to be let in. After a Rocco’s Jewelry employee buzzed him in, the white T-shirt-clad suspect held the door open for three masked men in black clothing.

“Once inside the store, the three individuals used a hammer to smash open the display cases and removed a large amount of high-end diamond jewelry.” said police in a news release.

“The jewelry was placed into bags being carried by the individuals, who fled the location on foot heading southbound on Webster Avenue.”

One of the thieves is seen using a hammer to smash glass cases as the others shove jewelry into bags.

The heist, which lasted less than 30 seconds appears to have been carefully planned.

The NYPD is asking anyone with information on the four men to come forward, offering a $3,500 reward as compensation.

Talented/Gifted Alternate and Afro artist, Brymo returns with a new album titled “9 – Esan”.

This “Esan” is the Yoruba half of the double 9 album released today September 9, 2021 by Brymo. The self-acclaimed most powerful artiste in the world feeds us with a classic project.

With a mix of R&B, pop, and African folk, Nigerian singer-songwriter Brymo has balanced love songs and social commentary on a string of albums popular in his home country. Born Olawale Ashimi, He began writing and playing music while in secondary school. He joined friends in a short-lived band called The Aliens before going his own way in 2005.

Influenced by R. Kelly and Backstreet Boys, Brymo honed a smooth R&B sound on his first album, 2007’s Brymstone. His second album, 2012’s The Son of a Kapenta (a reference to his father’s work in carpentry), was a blend of fuji music, electronica, and pop. Nigerian Entertainment Today extended the woodworking metaphor, praising the LP as “a well-polished, solid piece of auditory furniture.”

Brymo’s third album, 2013’s Merchants, Dealers & Slaves, has been read as an allegory for the political and culture climate in Nigeria. After releasing his fourth album, Tabula Rasa, in 2014, Brymo took a racy turn on his fifth LP, 2016’s Klitôris, an album rooted in the sounds of Yoruba music, Afrobeat, and soul.

Brymo’s 2018 release Osó mostly comprised ballads influenced by Apala and Yoruba music, while his 2020 LP Yellow was a more electronic album with elements of trap and shoegaze.

Amid his solo outings, Brymo joined the alternative rock band A.A.A., which released a self-titled five-song EP in 2019.

His last project- Yellow album examines life, love, society and scenarios in three different parts. Brymo follows it up with this new 9 – Esan album, which consist of 9 Yoruba version tracks.

Some officials at Katsina state Governor’s office are now in police custody over the theft of an unspecified amount of money at the Governor’s office on Sunday night.

Sources put the amount stolen at N31 million, although Governor Aminu Masari’s Director General on New media, Al-Amin Isah, said he did not know the amount.

It was also learnt that the theft occurred on Sunday night during rainfall.

Isah told journalists, “Those suspected to be involved have been arrested by the police. An investigation has already commenced. But I don’t know the amount alleged to have been stolen.”

Insiders further revealed that the image of a man who stole the money was captured by the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera installed at the Financial Controller’s office at the Governor’s office.

One of the sources revealed, “The thief was seen on the CCTV at the Financial Controller office. He entered the office through the window. He was also seen leaving the office with a large sack which he kept the money inside.”

Attempts for comments or clarification from the spokesman for the Katsina police command, SP Gambo Isah, were unsuccessful.

The spokesman did not pick up his calls, and he was yet to respond to the SMS sent to him on the incident as of press time.

A civil servant in the state had last month lost N61 million in a daylight robbery that occurred within katsina town, Punch reported.

The police command said then that there was a “conspiracy theory” in the incident.
