A powerful blast targeting a military vehicle on Saturday night killed at least 15 people and wounded 32 others in southwestern Pakistan, officials said, in an attack claimed by the Islamic State group. A statement by the Pakistani military said the explosion targeted an on-duty vehicle and set several other vehicles on fire. “Incendiary explosive was used. As a result, nearby vehicles caught fire. Fifteen people including seven civilians were martyred,†the statement said. Provincial home minister Sarfraz Bugti and government spokesman Anwar ul Haq Kakar confirmed the death toll and put the number of wounded at 32. The Islamic State Khorasan Province — the Middle Eastern group’s affiliate in Afghanistan and Pakistan — released a statement claiming the attack, according to the US-based monitoring group SITE. A suicide motorbike bomber was behind the blast, the statement said. The local affiliate has been known to work with Pakistani militant groups in previous attacks. Minister Bugti said firefighters were still working to put out the blaze. The nature of the blast could not immediately be determined but an investigation was underway, he said. President Mamnoon Hussain, Chief of the Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa and deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif all condemned the attack. The blast came two days before Pakistan’s 70th Independence Day, and the military chief said it was an effort to mar celebrations. “Our resolve won’t succumb to any challenge,†he said in a statement. Militants in past have carried out big attacks on Independence Day and other events of national importance. Islamic State militants and the Taliban have attacked Quetta city in the past. Here are some more app lists you might find helpful!  Build.com is kind of like the Amazon of construction apps. They are a large online retailer that specializes in those sort of products. It's mostly good for hobbyist construction projects around the home or yard. However, there are a bunch of things available there. Additionally, it has access to 16 total websites. You can probably find what you're looking for. The app also features alerts for price drops, optional assistant, and more. It's not a bad place to start a home improvement project.
 Concrete and Agg Calculator is one of those construction apps for professionals. Most jobs will have one working with concrete. This app helps you calculate how much concrete and aggregate you need to mix for your project. It has individual calculators for about a dozen different use cases. The user reviews are fairly positive as well. Pros may need to change up the formula a bit for their use cases. However, it seems to do a pretty decent job.
 Construction Master apps are some surprisingly expensive construction apps. However, they tend to work pretty well. These are mobile app versions of actual calculators that you can buy in stores. The in-store variants usually cost north of $40. Thus, the prices aren't so bad. You can do a lot of calculations with these. Some of the functionality includes pipe length cuts, unit conversion, right angle and rafter calculations, jack rafters, stair layouts, and much, much more. You may need to buy a couple of these to get all the functions you need. It's still cheaper than buying the actual hardware.
  We usually only recommend Evernote for business use these days. Construction work counts. Evernote allows you to make extremely detailed notes. Those notes are shareable to other people. That way you can quickly share information. You can scan things like blueprints, jot down quick notes about concrete formulas or your various costs. It can do a lot of stuff is what we're saying. Evernote also includes syncing to almost any device ever, the ability to set reminders, and more. It also has business features. It can get rather expensive, though.
 Fieldwire is one of the newer construction apps. It has a ton of features. Some of them include a plan viewer that works offline, OCR, support for Dropbox, and blueprint export to PDF. It can also keep track of blueprint version numbers. The app can also manage tasks, schedule due dates on projects, and even track manpower and cost. It's a decent all-in-one solution for construction apps. It can even upload photos to track progress. It's also completely free to download and use. You may run into the occasional bug.
We have some more recommendations for you!  Google Maps is one of the best construction apps by far. This one isn't so much for professionals, though. This is extremely useful for finding construction sites during your commute. You can then plan a way around it. Additionally, Maps has a ton of businesses indexed in case you're looking for a construction company to do some work for you. There really isn't a use case that Google Maps can't do. It's also completely free. It's difficult to find things that aren't great about this one.
 Waze is another great app for us normal people. It uses crowd-sourcing to gather its traffic information. It's great for finding spots of construction that other apps may miss. It also includes a large library of turn-by-turn navigation voices, Android Auto support, and native Spotify support for those who use it. It'll also show you where accidents, police, and other potential obstructions are so you can course correct accordingly. It works great for what it does.
  Udemy is another video learning platform. It has a number of construction courses that one could take. Some of their courses include construction site electrical system design, reinforced and prestressed concrete for construction managers, construction delay analysis, and many others. Most of the courses are fairly inexpensive and consist of about two dozen lectures. It's a decent choice for new or old professionals looking to add to their knowledge. There are other online learning apps that may help as well.
 YouTube is usually a pretty nice app. It has a lot of content that covers a lot of topics. That includes plenty of how-tos and instructional videos regarding construction projects. You can find anything from replacing a toilet to paving a driveway. The pros probably don't need that kind of help. However, the amateur DIYer may need the primer on how all of that works. The base app and all of the videos are free with some ads. You can remove ads and get other features if you buy YouTube Red ($9.99 per month).
 Home improvement stores are kind of no brainers for construction apps. Home Depot, Lowes, and other stores are great for that. You can find tools, materials, and all kinds of other stuff. The apps can be useful as well. You can check and see if stores have what you need in stock. You can order stuff if they don't. Some of them include in-app chats to help even further. None of the apps are amazingly designed. However, they should help save a few minutes here and there.

Ifeanyi Onuba The Federal Government is targeting annual non-oil export revenue of $100bn (about N30.5tn, at N305 per dollar exchange rate) through the implementation of the Zero Oil Plan. The projection is contained in a document prepared by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council showing how the plan is to be implemented. The Zero Oil Plan is NEPC’s strategy to replace oil as a major national foreign exchange earner by growing non-oil export to reach about 20 per cent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product. According to the document, while non-oil products are still exported to key destinations around the world from Nigeria, the immediate priority of government is to concentrate on new export products where Nigeria can earn between 40 per cent and 50 per cent of what it earned from oil in the past. Through the plan, NEPC has identified 22 priority countries as markets for Nigerian products while 11 strategic products with high financial value have also been identified to replace oil. These products are palm oil, cashew, cocoa, soya beans, rubber, rice, petrochemical, leather, ginger, cotton and shea butter. The document read in part, “Nigeria’s trade has been largely driven by exports of petroleum products, which contribute about 17 per cent to the nation’s GDP, signifying about 90 per cent of total merchandise exports and more than 65 per cent of government’s income. “This revenue boom has been threatened by a sharp drop in the global price of oil particularly as a result of the United States, introduction of the shale oil leading to severe economic stress. “NEPC’s vision is to replace oil as a major national foreign exchange earner by growing non-oil export to $30bn in the next 10 years and eventually to $100bn annually based on its Zero Oil Plan.†The Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer, NEPC, Mr. Segun Awolowo, said if the country could effectively key into the plan of the commission in taking advantage of the opportunities in the agricultural sector, there would not be any need to depend on oil revenue for survival. He said the volatility in the oil market had made it imperative for the government to look inwards, adding that Nigeria could no longer depend solely on oil revenue for implementation of government’s programme. For instance, the NEPC boss said between 2014 and 2016, the country recorded a total oil revenue shortfall of $40bn. He said in 2014, the country earned $70bn from crude oil, adding that oil receipts dropped to $40bn and $30bn in 2015 and 2016, respectively. He said as a result of the volatile nature of the oil market, the country could no longer depend on such commodity, and needed to partner Nigerians in the Diaspora to diversify the economy. He said, “In 2014, we had $70bn from oil; in 2015, it was $40bn; and you can see that we had a shortfall of $30bn. “In 2016, it was about $30bn and so we can see that the challenge is not on really the demand for foreign exchange but the supply of foreign exchange. “We are targeting manufacturing and industry so that we can produce and export more.†He expressed optimism that the plan would achieve significant success if all stakeholders collaborated with the NEPC, noting that the ultimate goal of the agency was for Nigeria to survive in a world where it would no longer sell oil.   Copyright PUNCH. A home ministry spokesman told the Press Trust of India, citing police reports, that 21 of the deaths were directly linked to a shortage of oxygen. Witnesses described a chaotic scene between 11pm and 2am as medical practitioners and relatives - the tanks running dry - handed out manual resuscitator bags to families in a desperate attempt to save the young patients. "We saw children dying around us," said the father of one victim, who gave his name only as Vijay. "Obviously, it's the hospital's fault. So many children have died because of them. My son was fine until nighttime, then something wrong happened."The state's Health Minister and hospital officials have denied charges that the deaths were caused by the oxygen bill dispute. An estimated 60 children have died at the hospital since 7 August from a variety of causes, officials said. In a news conference on Saturday, the state's Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, called the tragedy despicable and said the state had set up a committee to investigate the role of the oxygen vendor. Joseph Anebi, comptroller-general, federal fire service, has urged the national assembly to speedily amend fire service act 1963 to encourage the establishment of federal fire stations across the country. Anebi made the call when members of the house of representatives committee on interior visited fire service headquarters on Monday, August 14, in Abuja for oversight. He said currently only 15 states in the country had fire service stations. Anaebi said Nigerians were vulnerable to dangers of fire outbreak and needed necessary precautionary measures were adopted. “Cases of fire outbreaks in Nigeria which always leave a lot of destruction in its wake, both in human lives and property abound in recent time,†he said. “So, we are concerned about the absence of functional fire service stations in some states because we are concerned about every Nigerian. “Some states don’t have functional firefighting equipment and you need to also help us talk to the governors because when we approach them they think we are coming to collect their job.†Anebi also urged Nigerians to subscribe to the Fire Alert System (FAS) application introduced by the service to fight fire outbreak. He said the call was in view of the need to facilitate prompt response to incidents of fire across the country. “By this alert on our system we will be able to identify the exact location of the fire outbreak with an indication of the phone number of the place,†he said. “While the application is alerting the fire service office, it is also sending an alert to the owner of the house on fire. “Any home, institution, or facility that subscribes to this application is safe. Adams Jagaba, chairman of the committee, said the house was committed to amending the laws to ensure enhanced performance by the fire service in the country. Jagaba said the existing fire service act was obsolete and did not protect the 2,180 members of staff of the federal fire service. According to him, the bill must take care of the welfare of the staff of the Federal Fire Service; it is unacceptable that little or no compensation for officers who sustain injury in the course of duty is provided. The striker is seeking a move back to Spain in the transfer window. He has not played for Chelsea since the FA Cup final in May, following which he claims manager Antonio Conte sent him a text, telling him he was not in his plans for the new season. Costa was interviewed at home in Brazil on the same day Chelsea lost their opening Premier League game to Burnley and said he was refusing the club’s demand to return to play with the reserves. “They want me to be there training with the reserves. I wouldn’t be allowed access to the first-team dressing room and I would have no contact at all with the guys,†he told the Daily Mail. “I’m not a criminal! I don’t think it is fair after all I have done to be treated like that.†The Brazilian-born Spain international, who joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in 2014, said if the club did not allow him to move before the transfer window he was prepared to see out his contract unpaid in Brazil. “I am open to being a year in Brazil without playing, even if Chelsea fine me for a year and don’t pay me. “I’ll come back stronger. Some gunmen attacked the head office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Abuja on Wednesday. The spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwajaren, who disclosed this in a statement hours after the incident, said the gunmen left a death note for one of the anti-graft agency’s detectives. He said the attackers did not succeed in entering the complex because security guards on duty successfully prevented them. The statement reads, “A major security breach was recorded at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in the early hours of Wednesday, August 16, 2017, as unknown gunmen attacked the office located at Wuse Zone 7, Abuja. “The group of heavily armed bandits invaded the office at about 05.00 hours and began shooting into the premises, damaging vehicles parked in the premises in the process. However, the attack was repelled by guards on duty. “The hoodlums escaped in a getaway vehicle but not without leaving a message; a white envelope dropped by the fleeing attackers was found to contain a death threat addressed to Ishaku Sharu, a senior investigator with the commission. “Ishaku, who heads the foreign exchange malpractices fraud section, is in charge of corruption investigation involving several politically exposed persons and retired military brass hats. “The attack on the Zone 7 office, which houses the commission’s AMCON desk, procurement fraud and foreign exchange malpractices sections, is coming few weeks after another investigator, Austin Okwor, was shot and wounded by unknown assailants in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.†Uwujaren added that the incident had already been reported to the police for investigation. source: http://ift.tt/2wf8xad http://ift.tt/eA8V8J
