War has just begun – Shekau warns Trump by obran(m) : 12:31 am On Nov 15

– Shekau has declared war against US president-elect Donald Trump

– The Boko Haram leader says he and his members remain steadfast by their faith and will not stop

Abubakar Shekau, the leader of the Nigerian jihadist group Boko Haram, has reacted to the election of Donald Trump as the United States president.

In an audio message published on the group’s YouTube page on Sunday night, November 13, Shekau said they will “not be fooled by people like Donald Trump or anyone in the coalition who is fighting our brothers in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan or anywhere else.”

Shekau warns Trump that war has just begun
The Boko Haram leader warned that the war has just begun, The Punch reports.

He said in Hausa language: “We are done with Obama, now we’re going to start with Trump. We remain steadfast by our faith and we will not stop. For us, the war has just begun.”

NAIJ.com recalls that Boko Haram pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group in March 2015.

Although, the IS high command said in August that Shekau had been replaced as leader by Abu Musab al-Barnawi, the 22-year-old son of Boko Haram’s founder Mohammed Yusuf, he (Shekau) still claims he is in charge.

Exactly a month ago, the jihadist group released 21 out of the over 200 kidnapped school girls from Chibok after negotiations with the Nigerian government.

Over 20,000 people have died and 2.6 million displaced since 2009 when Abubakar Shekau took over as the head of Boko Haram.

DID I HEAR YOU SAY "RECESSION" ? OUR REPS SEEM TO LIVE IN ANOTHER WORLD. by obran(m) : 1:00 am On Nov 15

Amid recession, Reps take delivery of N3.6bn exotic cars
The delivery of 360 exotic cars to members of the House of Representatives has begun amid the economic downturn in the country.
Investigations by The PUNCH revealed on Sunday that 28 units of the Peugeot 508 series had already been delivered to lawmakers in Abuja.
The 28 were among the first batch of 50 cars supplied by the Kaduna-based Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited.
The House allocated a princely N3.6bn for the cars in the 2016 budget at a unit price of N10m.
A National Assembly top aide told The PUNCH on Sunday that the arrangement with Peugeot was that the company would supply the vehicles in batches because of the huge number of members involved.
“Fifty cars will be supplied in the first batch; 28 have already been delivered. That was last week.
“Twenty-two more in the first batch are expected to be delivered this week,” the source stated.
Findings indicated that the luxury cars would arrive in Abuja in batches till January, 2017 when all 360 members would have picked a unit.
About 223 of the members of the House are new, having come to the National Assembly for the first time in 2015.
But all 360 members will still benefit from the luxury cars, officially known as ‘utility’ or ‘committee’ vehicles.
Investigations showed that owing to paucity of funds, the lawmakers agreed with Peugeot to spread the payment of the N3.6bn across 24 months or “two years’ budget.”

I Caught My Husband Touching My Daughter's Private Part with His d!ck - Wife Tells Court by obran(m) : 1:21 am On Nov 15

A woman has narrated how he caught her husband red-handed touching their daughter's private parts leaving her in shock.

A housewife in Abuja, Francisca Okechukwu has told a court how she caught her husband touching their daughters private part. The woman filed for divorce on Monday, accusing her husband, Tony Okechukwu, of sexually abusing their six-year old daughter.

In her divorce application filed at Jikwoyi Customary Court, Abuja, Francisca, a business woman, alleged that she had, on many occasions, caught her husband fiddling with her daughter’s private part.

“I caught my husband touching my daughter’s private part, his biological daughter”, she alleged.

The petitioner told the court that she had been suspecting her husband of the act “ because of the way he carries the twin daughters.

“Each time he carries the children (twin) on his lap, his manhood will rise up, and if he is not satisfied with that, he will go and pull off his cloth and tie his towel,” she told the court.

The petitioner also alleged that her husband might have had carnal knowledge of her daughter.

“There was a day the twin had a nap in their father’s room in the evening but when they were having their bath the next morning, one of them was complaining of a pain in her private part.

“When I checked her, I saw a cut which pained her for over three days,” she added.

She therefore begged the court to dissolve the marriage and grant her custody of the children. The husband, Okechukwu , also a business man, however denied all the allegations.

The Presiding officer, Mr Labaran Gusau, adjourned the case to Nov. 16th for hearing.

How NNPC contributes to rise in kerosene price in Nigeria by obran(m) : 1:27 am On Nov 15

The hope of having the price of kerosene come down sooner has been dashed with the insistence by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) that it has foreclosed any plan of importing the product into the country in the nearest future.
This is contained in the NNPC report for the third quarter of 2016 on financial and operational activities, made available to Ripples Nigeria on Sunday.
According to the report, importation of kerosene has been left for the private sector in line with the directive by government to gradually eliminate subsidy on the product, which was gulping about $1bn annually.
“The NNPC has not directly imported kerosene into Nigeria since June 2016, but has been supporting marketers with the necessary logistics to have the product in parts of the country at affordable prices,” the report stated.
It stated that the last time the corporation imported kerosene into Nigeria under the direct-sale direct-purchase/offshore processing agreement (DSDPA) was in May 2016.
According to the report, “In the months of June, July and August of this year, the NNPC did not get a single litre of DPK under the DSDP/OPA. This is in line with the February announcement by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, replacing the crude swap arrangement with (DSDPA) framework, which took off in April 2016.”

This means Nigeria was able to save about $336.4million between April and July 2016.
But despite the claim, NNPC disclosed that for June, July and August, it supplied 1.18 billion, 798.33 million and 901.35 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (fuel), via its various depots but none for kerosene.
Analysts gave the development as the main reason for the sudden scarcity of Kerosene, both for domestic use and industrial purposes, especially in the aviation sector.
The price of a litre of the product has been varying from one part of the country to the other, a situation that has seen a litre selling for N250 in Lagos and Abuja and N300 in other states.

Senate to re-consider Buhari’s request by obran(m) : 5:22 am On Nov 15

This might be as a result of the meetings which Buhari had with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

The Senate will look into President Buhari's request seeking approval to borrow $30b for infrastructural development, this week, reports say.
Reports say this might be as a result of the meetings which Buhari had with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The Senate had earlier rejected the request, saying there were no documents supporting the request as referenced in the letter sent by the President.
According to Punch, the Majority Leader of the Senate, Senator Ali Ndume, said “We will deal with the issues this week by God’s grace.”
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Sabi Abdullahi, who spoke on the issue, added that “As it is, we don’t even have any information that will enable us to be diligent.
“We passed the budget and the borrowing plan in the budget was clear, N3.2tn made up of N900bn from domestic sources and the balance from external lenders. But the question is: with the new one that was sent, what have they done with respect to the provisions of the 2016 budget? It is not clear. How are they going to do it?
“Those are the things we presume are in the document that Mr. President said was ‘attached’, which, unfortunately, his officials were careless about and they showed that they are truly incompetent. This is the first time we are seeing information on the budget sent to us without those details. It came as a letter. We saw the letter and it was read.
“Do we have any alternative? No, we don’t. I have seen situations where people have tried as much as possible to create and perpetuate the frosty relationship between the two arms of government. It is unfortunate.”
You will recall that Senator Ali Ndume said he regretted not marketing the proposal » for the loan, shortly after the Senate threw it out.

Italian police clamps down of 12,000 Nigerian prostitutes by obran(m) : 5:58 am On Nov 15

The Italian authorities are trying to checkmate the nightmare stirred by about 12,000 prostitutes from Nigeria who arrived Italy between 2015 and 2016.

Data from the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) shows – a six-fold increase on the previous two years. Almost 80 percent of the young women are victims of trafficking, according to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), placing law enforcement agencies under pressure to uproot expanding Nigerian criminal networks, lawyers say.

There is an alarming rate of growth in the influx of prostitutes in Italy.
The “Mummy” encounter

When prosecutor Lina Trovato of Italy first came across a s*x trafficking suspect called “Mummy”, she sensed she was onto something especially sinister.

The code name had appeared several times in wiretapped conversations between Nigerian gang members in Italy and their apparently female boss back in the West African state.

“If one of the (trafficked s*x worker) girls went astray, the agents in Italy always informed ‘Mummy’ – otherwise known as the Queen Bee of Nigerian trafficking – so she could keep them in line,” Trovato told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

Several months of investigation led police to swoop in and arrest six people in the Italian cities of Rome, Genoa and Catania, she said. The six are awaiting trial.

“Mummy” is still on the run

“Sometimes we are good at breaking the cycle (of trafficking). But it is very hard,” Trovato, a specialist in organized crime and mafia, said in Catania city.

Italy’s government has not disclosed the number of arrests in connection with Nigerian trafficking gangs despite requests from the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

Arrests are being made in cities across Italy, to checkmate the growth of prostitution in the country.
Nigerian gangs ruling Italy

Nigerian crime gangs have proliferated in Italy, controlling an extensive network of prostitutes and ordering them “on demand” from Nigeria, Italian police and prosecutors say. But now the Nigerian gangs, who have been active in Italy for more than a decade, are taking on increasingly violent tactics, including knife crime and even forging close relations with notorious mafia groups, the Cosa Nostra and the Camorra, law enforcement agencies in Italy say.

Ladies from Nigeria are forced to got through some occultist procedures before they are trafficked to Italy.
The overlap with home-grown organized crime groups is troubling for police because the Italian mafia dominate the economies in their regions, often with the help of corrupt or complacent administrators, and they have spread their tentacles to northern Italy.

At least 16 Nigerians have been arrested on trafficking offences since the start of 2016 in the Catania jurisdiction in Sicily, up from around 10 the previous year.

A torrent wave of Mafia crimes

As the number of Nigerian trafficking victims rises, Italian prosecutors – lawyers who gather evidence before presenting it in court – are finding more and more of their time taken up with unpicking Nigeria’s criminal networks.

Nigerian prostitutes frequently end up working as recruiters or “madams” for new arrivals from Africa, prosecutors say.

Nigerian prostitutes in Italy use makeshift chalets in outskirts of the city.
These former s*x workers also help with the logistics of slavery, driving trafficking victims to the cities where they become prostitutes, Trovato said. But trends are changing.

Armed robberies, murders and drug-related crime have spread south to the Sicilian city of Palermo from larger Nigerian communities in the northern cities of Turin and Castel Volturno, justice officials say.

“It is a compact community, in which there are lots of people who practice crime,” said Leonardo Agueci, prosecutor in Palermo’s justice department.

Earlier in 2016, the boss of notorious Nigerian criminal organization Black Axe was sentenced to 12 years in jail after a number of Nigerian men were brutally attacked in Palermo.

The incident happened late one night in January 2014 in Palermo’s Ballaro street market, where police later found the victims with gashed foreheads.

“It was the first time a Palermo court has convicted a Nigerian on mafia-related crimes,” said Gaspare Spedale, another prosecutor in the Sicilian city.

Police fear the relatively small-time crimes committed by members of the Nigerian gangs in Palermo might become more serious in a city famous for Italy’s most storied mafia organization, the Cosa Nostra, Agueci said. For now, the prosecutors said there was no evidence mafia were running the Nigerian s*x trafficking network from Palermo, but it could have connections with organized crime gangs on mainland Italy.

“The people who export (Nigerian victims) are in other countries,” Spedale said. “But there is a mastermind controlling it in Italy. It exists.”

The Code of Silence
In Palermo’s vibrant Ballaro market, Nigerian shopkeepers and customers brushed shoulders with Sicilian fruit stallholders touting bright pink pomegranates and blood-red tomatoes.

Nigerian women, loading their baskets with sardines and olives, refused to answer questions about the quality of life in Palermo when they were approached by the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

When asked questions about the illegal trade run by Nigerians, many stick to the code of silence, in a bid not to incur the wrath of gangs controlling the s*x racket.
At night, a few hundred meters away, West African women in short-cut dresses plied their trade in dimly lit streets alongside the port. Many work for pimps who remain out of sight, local campaigners say. But the killing in 2011 of one Nigerian trafficking victim still strikes fear in the community.

“Favour” Nike Adekune was murdered in Palermo’s historic center in a crime that shocked the 500-strong Nigerian community, according to Nino Rocca, a local rights activist. Adekune – from Benin City in Nigeria’s southern Edo state – had been working as a s*x worker to pay off debts to her pimps, Rocca said. After one of Adekune’s clients was convicted of her murder, something mysterious happened to her body, he said.

“When the corpse was prepared for burial (months after her death), we noticed that only a few bones remained. We do not know why,” Rocca told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

“We have no idea if the mafia or Nigerian (gangs) stole the body.” But he added that some members of the Nigerian community suspected the local mafia were involved.

The place of juju in the Italian s*x trade
The macabre nature of more and more crimes committed against Nigerian women, including black magic or “juju” rituals, is one reason victims are reluctant to come forward, prosecutors say.

Juju plays a great role in the s*x trade, most ladies have to undergo rituals before they are trafficked to Italy.
Fear plays a large part in Nigerian juju, with pubic hair, fingernails and blood collected from trafficking victims as they are made to swear never to report their situation to authorities, rights groups say.

In some cases, fearing the juju “spell” may be turned on them and they may die, Nigerian parents insist their daughters obey traffickers, testimony from Italian court documents shows.

“One woman we spoke to was made to swallow an egg whole,” Kevin Hyland, Britain’s anti-slavery commissioner, said in an interview in London. “It obviously had some kind of drug in it: She was raped daily.”

Victims of s*x trafficking often do not want to point the finger at the madams or pimps because they are worried about repercussions or juju, Catania-based prosecutor Lino Trovato said.

Even so, the number of trafficking-related cases in her file has risen. “This year, I handled about 40 cases, compared with 20 the year before,” Trovato said.

Italy and Spain share the same dilemma
The problem is not isolated to Italy. The authorities in parts of Spain have also been grappling with Nigerian s*x trafficking rings.

In Catalonia, 99 percent of prostitution is controlled by organized crime, much of it by a dominant Nigerian crime group known as the Supreme Eiye Confraternity (SEC) or Air Lords.

It’s a criminal network comparable with the mafioso in Chicago in the 1930s, said Xavi Cortes, chief of the central unit of human trafficking at the Mossos d’Esquadra, the Catalan regional police force.

“Every single Nigerian knows who they are,” Cortes said in an interview.

“If you ask a Nigerian boy, he will know who an Eiye is.” But many women who are trafficked to Spain end up working as “madams”, who are essentially pimps who control prostitutes on the streets of Barcelona, Cortes said.

The Mossos’ operations have led to the jailing of 25 trafficking gang members in the Barcelona region, with a further 13 currently under a European arrest order because they are abroad, Cortes said.

“Experience tells me that, finally, all the traffickers will find new routes and new ways. It is impossible to stop this phenomenon,” the Catalan police chief said.
