The Naira on Monday appreciated against the dollar at the parallel market, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

The Nigerian currency gained three points to exchange at N388 to the dollar, stronger than N391 it traded on Friday, while the pound sterling and the Euro closed at N495 and N425.

At the Bureau De Change (BDC) window, the Naira was sold at N362 to the dollar, while the pound sterling and the Euro closed at N495 and N423.

Trading at the interbank market showed that the Naira closed at N305.7, while the pound sterling and the Euro closed at N453.18 and N386.28.

Currency traders said the liquidity boost at the FOREX market had forced the naira to appreciate.

The Nigeria Police Force, Delta State command has been thrown into mourning following the death of Ughelli Area Commander, ACP Usman Danbaba in an undisclosed hospital, just two days after he was shot by some unknown gunmen.
It was gathered that the Senior Police Officer was allegedly shot dead near the palace of the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom along Otovwodo in Ughelli Town at about 8pm on Sunday.

No one could provide detailed information as to the movement of the Area Commander when the incident occurred.

It could also not be ascertained if the Area Commander moved with orderly at the time of the incident and as at press time.

Contacted, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka said, ” We are saddened by the news and there’s nothing we can do about it now. Thank you.”

A group of fraudsters were living it up as they stole people’s identities and bought luxury goods, Toronto Police allege. Two men have been charged and two are being sought in an alleged $10-million fraud ring.
“These people lived a high-profile lifestyle of conspicuous consumption fuelled by the proceeds of identity theft and fraud,” Det. Sgt. Ian Nichol, of the financial crimes unit, said Tuesday.

Some of the items seized during the Project Royal investigation include a $150,000 Romain Jerome Moon Dust DNA Automatic watch, a pair of crocodile hide shoes for $10,000, as well as sunglasses, clothing and perfume all with price tags in the thousands.

Identity information of 5,000 GTA residents was also seized, along with dozens of fraudulently obtained credit cards and hundreds of pieces of stolen mail. It is believed the fraud ring had connections to individuals who had access to people’s identities and served them up for a fee.
In December 2016, Adedayo Ogundana, 45, also known as Oladipupo Ogund, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with 12 counts of fraud and possession of property obtained by crime.
Police executed a search warrant at a Yorkville condo on April 24 while looking for Adekunle Johnson Omitiran, 37, and seized cash, watches, jewelry and clothing.

Omitiran later surrendered to police and was charged with several counts of fraud and identity theft, possession of stolen credit cards, and possession of proceeds of crime.

A warrant has also been issued for Duro Akintola, 44, of Toronto, who is also known as Michie Noah. Emmanuel Salako, 47, of Toronto, who is also known as Gee Salaq, is wanted by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service in Chicago.

The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu has said that presidential media team will rely on third party information on the President’s health status.

Shehu made this known while featuring on a programme, Sunrise Daily, on Channels Television on Tuesday.

When asked if he would be joining Buhari in London, in order to update Nigerians on the President’s health, Garba Shehu said: “No. I don’t think I will go.

“I hope the President has the privacy that he needs with his doctors and regains his health. We will continue to rely on third party from my own point of view”.

It will be recalled that Buhari returned to the UK for further medical check-ups on Sunday. He had left Nigeria on January 19 for a medical vacation and returned on March 10.

Despite the controversy surrounding their union, the children of Olusegun Obasanjo, former Nigerian president, and Kessington Adebutu, popularly known as Baba Ijebu, had their traditional marriage on Thursday.
