Super Eagles Coach Holds Talks With Chelsea Wonder-Kid Over His International Future... by Scapoos(m) : 7:31 pm On Mar 26

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has confirmed that he has held talks with Chelsea soccer whiz kid, Ola Aina. The talks aim at convincing the right fullback, who is an ex-England U20 international, to forget about the possibility of playing for the England senior side and pledge his future to the Super Eagles

Rohr told goal.com: “It is normal to have this situation, when we have very good player [like Ola Aina] who can pick two teams. We always leave the door open to young talents.”

Despite been born and raised in England, Aina visited the Super Eagles Crown Plaza Hotel camp in London shortly before the friendly against Senegal on Thursday, alongside his father.

While the Nigerian Federation and Rohr are keen on the ex-England U20 international, the defender has not yet made a decision whether or not he would make a commitment to the Nigerian senior team.

Aina has recorded five first-team appearances for Chelsea this season

Fear In Anambra Community As Businessman Imports Shrine Over N10m Debt... by Scapoos(m) : 12:44 am On Mar 28

Fear has gripped the people of Umuechefu Obiuno quarters in Igboukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, over the presence of a shrine imported from a community in Anambra East Local Government Area by a businessman over a N10 million debt. It was gathered that residents of the community, who were told of the efficacy of the shrine, were fleeing the community in droves.

It was gathered that the shrine was brought by a five-man team sent by the chief priest, and planted in the family compound of two siblings, the debtors, at the instance of the businessman-creditor.

Vanguard also gathered that the said businessman had approached the shrine to kill the debtors, their families and others who benefit from the two brothers. Prior to the planting of the shrine, the chief priest was said to have invited the siblings to the shrine in Anambra East with N5,000 delivery service cost and a carton of beer, to defend themselves on the said N10 million debt allegation.

However, the brothers were said to have ignored the invitation, which prompted the planting of the shrine in their family compound since March 18. Consequently, residents were said to have started fleeing in droves, prompting the brothers to petition the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sam Okaula, through their counsel.

They pleaded that the man that took them to the shrine, the chief priest and his errand boys, who brought the shrine to Igboukwu, be arrested and prosecuted for ‘trial by ordeal.’

Their counsel described the action as mockery to the family, because as their compound had become a pilgrimage destination, where people troop in to have a glimpse of the shrine.[code][/features]

14-Year-Old Girl Defiled By Five Men In A Bush Contemplates Suicide. Photos by Scapoos(m) : 9:23 pm On Mar 28

A 14-year old girl who was defiled by five men at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region of Ghana says she has been contemplating suicide for some time now. The traumatised girl dropped out of school at Class Four after her ordeal and says she is being haunted by the dastardly incident which has left her with life-threatening complications.

Her revelations come as the police arrested a third suspect, Awudu Kamiru, an 18-year-old head porter. The victim was strangled by her attackers in an attempt to murder her after having sexual intercourse with her in turns.

The attackers reportedly confessed that the plan was to conceal their illegal act and avoid a possible arrest. But a Good Samaritan who found her in an unconscious state in the Trado stream saved her life. That act has since left her with walking difficulties whilst she bleeds profusely from her private parts.

Police have so far arrested three suspects in connection with the act.

Twenty-five-year-old Cobbler and ex-convict Yaw Preko and a driver’s mate, Mohammed Adamu were the first two to be arrested and arraigned before an Nkawkaw Magistrates Court.

The two, who have since pleaded for leniency after admitting to the offence of defilement, conspiracy to co commit crime and attempted murder. are expected back in court on April 7, 2017.

A third suspect, Awudu Kamiru, was arrested over the weekend after Adamu led police to his hideout.

Kamiru has been identified by the victim as the one who kicked her down before leading to her attack.

Nkawkaw Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Sarfo Peprah says efforts are underway to arrest two more suspects who are at large. Two other persons said to have taken part in the gang rape have been identified only as Junior and Sarfo.

Apart from the trauma, the girl says some residents in her neighbourhood have been making fun of her.

Gernot Rohr has disclosed Leicester City forward Ahmed Musa was excused from the Super Eagles training camp in London for “family reason”. Ahmed Musa was not part of the Eagles practice match Monday night at the Hive Stadium, but he instead flew down to Nigeria.

The forward was sensationally overlooked for the Eagles captain’s armband with Turkey-based midfielder Ogenyi Onazi handed that responsibility to lead the eagles in last week’s friendly against Senegal in London.

“Ahmed Musa quit camp for personal, he had to go,” Rohr said in a radio interview monitored this morning.

The Franco-German coach further announced his captain and vice-captain.

“Mikel (Obi)is the first captain, Onazi for the moment the second captain,” he announced. “Onazi was previously vice-captain.”

Today's prayer: Have mercy on me, God, in accord with your merciful love;in your abundant compassion blot out my transgressions. by Scapoos(m) : 10:42 am On Apr 30

Psalms, Chapter 51

1For the leader. A psalm of David,2when Nathan the prophet came to him after he had gone in to Bathsheba.a

I

3Have mercy on me, God, in accord with your merciful love;

in your abundant compassion blot out my transgressions.

4Thoroughly wash away my guilt;

and from my sin cleanse me.

5For I know my transgressions;

my sin is always before me.b

6Against you, you alone have I sinned;

I have done what is evil in your eyes

So that you are just in your word,

and without reproach in your judgment.c

7Behold, I was born in guilt,

in sin my mother conceived me.*d

8Behold, you desire true sincerity;

and secretly you teach me wisdom.

9Cleanse me with hyssop,* that I may be pure;

wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.e

10You will let me hear gladness and joy;

the bones you have crushed will rejoice.

II

11Turn away your face from my sins;

blot out all my iniquities.

12A clean heart create for me, God;

renew within me a steadfast spirit.f

13Do not drive me from before your face,

nor take from me your holy spirit.g

14Restore to me the gladness of your salvation;

uphold me with a willing spirit.

15I will teach the wicked your ways,

that sinners may return to you.

16Rescue me from violent bloodshed, God, my saving God,

and my tongue will sing joyfully of your justice.h

17Lord, you will open my lips;

and my mouth will proclaim your praise.

18For you do not desire sacrifice* or I would give it;

a burnt offering you would not accept.i

19My sacrifice, O God, is a contrite spirit;

a contrite, humbled heart, O God, you will not scorn.

III

20*Treat Zion kindly according to your good will;

build up the walls of Jerusalem.j

21Then you will desire the sacrifices of the just,

burnt offering and whole offerings;

then they will offer up young bulls on your altar.

How NIA Kept President Buhari In Dark Over Ikoyi $43m by Scapoos(m) : 9:43 pm On Apr 30

As the Presidential Investigative Panel into the $43million cash recovered from an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos, winds up its assignment later this week, there are indications that the NIA, which claims to own the money, kept President Muhammadu Buhari in the dark on its existence.

The panel headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will conclude its assignment on Wednesday.

It has already interrogated the suspended Director general of the agency, Mr. Ayo Oke and is now in possession of documents showing approval for the release of $289m and other funds to the NIA and some security agencies by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

But the panel is not inviting Jonathan because of what sources said are certain security decisions within the Executive powers and discretion of a sitting president.

Besides, the committee is said to be only interested in tracking how the cash was sourced; how it was disbursed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); the projects it was used for; and what happened to what is left of it.

Oke was first grilled on Monday for about 10hours and on Tuesday for another two hours.

Also quizzed in respect of the money were heads of relevant government agencies including the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele and some staff of NIA.

A presidential source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that the Presidency was not aware of the existence of such the huge amount of money.

The source denied a report that the current National Security Adviser, Babagana Munguno, who is a member of the panel, was aware of its existence.

The source told The Nation that Oke did not brief the NSA at all about the funds - $289m - or the projects they were meant for when the Buhari administration took office in May 2015, even though the money had been released in March the same year.

The NSA office, he said, only got to know of the existence of the money during the work of the Presidential committee that audited the Defence Equipment Procurement in the Armed Forces.

The Committee, he said, had observed certain payments from the CBN to the NIA and raised questions drawing the attention of the NSA.

When the suspended DG of the NIA discovered that that Committee was raising questions and to forestall the NSA from blowing the cover, the source said, Oke then gave a report to the NSA on the existence of the funds.

Even then, he reportedly told the Committee that its job did not cover the activities or the finances of the NIA.

The source added that subsequently, a team was constituted to ascertain the situation.

He said that the first suspicion of a potential abuse was noticed at that stage, especially considering the amount of money involved and the purposes stated.

“This was how the NSA and the Presidency learnt of the existence of such funds. We were not told by anyone in NIA until the committee saw something, and raised a red flag,” the source said.

Besides, Oke did not inform anyone in the Federal Government or presidency that he kept $43m of the said funds in cash in a private apartment anywhere in Lagos or any part of the country, when compelled to explain what was happening.

Another top government official, who does not want his name in print as he was not authorized to speak on the matter, said: “This is the issue: the NSA was not told that NIA had this lump cash stashed away in the place it was eventually discovered by EFCC.

“In any case, extant rules are clear that such money ought only to be placed in the NIA headquarters or in CBN vaults.”

Stressing that there were also instances where CBN actually paid out some of the funds directly to some NIA contractors, the source queried why the suspended NIA boss needed to put aside such huge cash in a private apartment.

He said that the projects for which the former President approved the $289m included two in Lagos which total cost was about $28m.

As at January this year, the source said that funds for the Lagos projects had actually been released to the tune of $18m, meaning that only about $10m was left to be paid four months ago, before the $43m was found in the Lagos apartment recently.

He added: “So let us even assume that the NIA DG wanted to keep funds in Lagos for the Lagos based projects, he did not need that much for the total of the Lagos projects at all. And apart from that it is completely untenable to stash away agency money in a private apartment instead of keeping it with the CBN or inside the NIA head office where the money would be well-secured and its disbursement well protected. ”

The issues are as follows:
*What informed ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s approval of such huge funds to NIA and other security agencies in 2015?

*Where were the funds sourced from;

*How was the cash disbursed by the CBN;

* What projects were the funds used for; and

*What has happened to unspent funds?

* Was it appropriate for the $43.4m to be in the Ikoyi apartment?

*Were there infractions committed by SGF Lawal and NIA DG Oke?

“The committee has discovered some anomalies bordering on extra-budgetary spending. It has a task to overhaul the system and make far-reaching recommendations.”

Also, “the government may remove PINE from the control of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF). It is becoming another ATM.”
