There was a standoff earlier today between officials of the Nigerian Customs and some car dealers in Kaduna state. According to reports, the Customs officials were trying to apprehend some car importers/dealers along Rabah road junction in Kaduna. The angry car dealers organized themselves as they set the Customs patrol vehicle ablaze.

Manchester United are facing major doubts over the fitness of Ashley Young and Marcus Rashford ahead of the clash against Arsenal next Sunday.

The Red Devils did well to see-off a tricky test against Celta Vigo on Thursday night, courtesy of a Marcus Rashford’s second half free-kick but there have raised concerns over the fitness of the goalscorer and Young who both were outstanding in the clash.

After the game, United boss Jose Mourinho revealed that Rashford has a slight knock, he said: ‘He started with a little problem, obviously with the running and the continuity he felt it.’

Marcus Rashford was replaced by Anthony Martial in the 90th minute of the clash while Ashley left the pitch in the 89th minute despite coming in as a substutite 11 minutes earlier.

Speaking about the injury former United forward Michael Owen said: ‘It has to be a serious injury, I would suggest that’s a muscle injury. A minimum of two-three weeks’.

This latest injury problems will add to the growing list of injuries at Manchester United with the likes of Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, Tim Fosu-Mensah and Zlatan Ibrahimovic all out with injuries.

The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed that two persons died, while eight others sustained injuries in an accident along the Ilo-Awela Road in Sango-Ota, Ogun State today.

The Unit Commander of the FRSC in Ogun, Mr. Adekunle Oguntoyinbo, made the confirmation while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Sango-Ota.

He said the accident was caused by brake failure at about 8.20 a.m. Oguntoyinbo said the incident involved two buses, one of which was a commercial bus.

He stated, “The brake of the commercial bus failed and it crashed into another bus at the toll gate, resulting in the death of two persons and injuring eight others.

“The bodies of the dead have been deposited at the morgue of the Ota General Hospital in Sango-Ota, while the injured persons are receiving treatment in the same hospital.”

Oguntoyinbo counseled motorists to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition before putting them on the road.

As registration for 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination closes on Friday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said that an unprecedented number of 1.7m candidates registered for the examination.

About 1.2million candidates registered for the UTME in 2015 and 2016 respectively. With a cost of N5,000 per registration form (excluding an additional N500 for the reading text), our correspondent learnt that the board raked in N8.5bn from the sale of forms.

According to reports emanating from Denmark, NPFL leading scorer, Stephen Odey’s planned move to FC Midtjylland of Denmark from MFM FC has collapsed due to age falsification, AOIFootball.com exclusively reports.
It was discovered that the age he presented in his passport was totally different from what was on his certificate.

The Danish club have asked Odey to leave their Sports Complex immediately due to the development.

A fatal accident involving two Camry cars, 1999 and 2000 models, occurred in Abuja at the early hours of Saturday (Today). Two persons, a SAS police officer and a woman were killed in the accident which occurred on Gwarinpa Expressway. The driver of the second vehicle was, however, rushed to a nearby hospital, but in a critical condition.

DailyPost reporter who was at the scene of the accident around 6.45pm ,gathered that the SAS police officer (Name withheld) believed to have been drunk and allegedly on drug was making a U-turn on the expressway in a ‘penciled light’ Camry car, with registration number- KEM 199 NP, when the oncoming vehicle rammed into him in high speed, leaving him and a lady in front of the second vehicle dead.

During evacuation of the dead bodies from the two vehicles that were completely damaged, more than 10 packets of a powerful drug, Ultram (Tramadol) were recovered from the vehicle of the SAS officer. Also recovered were some empty and yet-to-be- consumed bottles of hot drinks.

An eyewitness who does not want his name in print, told DAILY POST that the officer was very wrong, as he did not watch very well before making the U-turn.
He said, ‘’ Look at this place, is this even the right place to make a U-turn? This is a highway and for Christ sake, the oncoming vehicle couldn’t have controlled the speed it was coming with. I saw it. I think the man was drunk.

 It seems he was even making calls. Look at all the drugs recovered from the car. Did you see all the drinks in the vehicle? No responsible police officer could have been this careless. ‘’

Meanwhile, men of the Federal Road Safety Corps from the Sector Command who were at the scene of the accident to evacuate bodies of the victims, refused to respond to questions, directing our reporter to get other information from the sector command.

An officer believed to be leading the team said, ‘’ what happened was an accident. We are here to evacuate the dead victims; the injured has been taken to the hospital already. Other information you may need could be gotten from our sector command.’’
