Lagos DPO Kills Fashion Designer During Raid On Birthday Party (Photo) by Airdy(m) : 1:46 am On May 10

The tragic death of a 23-year-old fashion designing apprentice, Jamiu Ayoade, has caused grief in the Ijeshatedo area of Lagos.

Jamiu was allegedly shot dead by Divisional Police Officer of the Ijesha Police Station, identified as Muhammed Yakubu.

It was learnt that Jamiu, who lived on Oke-Onijo Street, had gone to Wosilatu Daudu, next street, to attend a birthday party of a friend, Abubakar Animashaun, around 4pm on Sunday.

It was gathered that the DPO and his men went on surveillance to the venue around 5pm, and left a few minutes after they were told of what the event was all about.

About two hours later, the team was said to have returned to the area in a van, announcing their presence with blaring of sirens and gunshots, which scared away the fun seekers.

The DPO reportedly followed some people, including Jamiu, who ran to safety in a building. He was said to have shot Jamiu at a close range with his service pistol.

An eyewitness, who claimed to be the brother of the birthday boy, Jelili Bakare, told Punch that the policemen fled the scene, immediately Jamiu was hit by a bullet.

He said, “ Some policemen came around 5pm when the event just started. They asked a woman called Iya Aliya what was going on . She told them that it was a birthday party and they left. Around 7.30pm, I was sitting with my friends outside when I heard the blaring of police sirens.

The van stopped some distance to the venue of the party and some policemen, led by the DPO, came out and started shooting. People ran helter-skelter. Many people fell into a gutter.

“The DPO brought out a pistol and chased some people into a passage. He shot twice at them. A bullet hit Jamiu in the head, while another person, Akeem, was shot in the hand.

“Immediately they saw the harm they had caused, they entered their van and fled. We went to the Ijesha Police Station, but we were not allowed to make a report. We then went to the Itire Police Division, but we were directed back to the Ijesha division.

“Nobody was fighting that would have warranted the police action. Around 9pm, the DPO and his men came back in about five vans. Nobody was arrested.

“This morning ( Monday), we were invited to the secretariat of the Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area. We narrated what happened to an official called Mrs .Raji. She called the DPO on the telephone and he met us in her office.

“The woman told us to excuse them. After their discussion, the woman called us in. She said the DPO told her that Jamiu had a case with the police. I was shocked. I told the woman that the boy was an apprentice and easy going. He did not drink or smoke and had never been arrested before. The woman said I should not worry.”

Animashaun, who was marking his 22nd birthday, said he had yet to recover from the shock, adding that he was pained Jamiu was killed for no just cause.

“I didn’t know the mission of the policemen at the venue because there was no fight. Jamiu was a decent person. He was my friend. It was the DPO that shot him,” he added.

Jamiu’s brother, Taofiq Ayoade, said the victim was rushed to a private hospital in the community from where he was referred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi -Araba.

“He gave up the ghost on the way to LUTH. He was not a suspect. He was learning tailoring and was supposed to graduate this year. He was not a criminal. He would leave for his workplace around 9am and come back by 8.30pm. He was 23. Our mother lives in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The officer that killed him must face the consequence of his action,” he said.

Taofiq added that his brother was buried on Monday (yesterday) in accordance with Islamic rites.

Jamiu’s step-sister, Mrs. Sadiat Ogunsola, said she had been catering to the victim since their father died a few years ago.

She said, “Jamiu would never complain or argue with you, and he didn’t foment trouble. He was still at home around 3pm. He had finished his secondary school education , but could not register for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination due to financial challenge.

“We planned that he should finish his vocation this year and register for the examination next year. We are still trying hard to console the mother. Nothing can bring him back, but justice must prevail.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the raid in a text message, but was silent on the killing.

He said, “There was an incident relating to a raid on some suspected cult members in the Ijesha area of Lagos. Arrest of a suspect has been made, while investigation is ongoing. Further details will be communicated soon.”

Ubi Franklin narrates how Chinese man almost stabbed him in Lekki (Photo) by Airdy(m) : 8:30 am On May 10

Police has detained a Chinese man who attempted to stab CEO of Made Men Music, Ubi Franklin at a furniture show room in Lekki.

The Chinese man, is reportedly a manager of a furniture showroom in Lekki, Lagos. Ubi shared a photo of the man in Police custody and wrote;

"Earlier today I was at LIFEMATE furniture show room at the palms Lekki to enquire about a service I paid for that wasn't attended to. I was then asked by a junior staff (Nigerian) to speak to his "OGA" (a Chinese man). The Chinese man paid me no attention when I approached him with my concerns, he rather walked away as I was still trying to make my concerns known to him. So I followed up to say his attitude was unacceptable and then proceeded to leave the shop since he wasn't going to pay me any attention or courtesy as a returning customer. As I was walking out the door I heard someone scream, I turned my back, only for me to see the Chinese man running towards me with two knives. But for the quick intervention of my cousin the story would have been different.
I handed him over to the police who then transferred him to Maroko police station and he was asked why he wanted to stab me and he said Cos I said "see this Chinese man o" .
Anyways God got me covered Physically and spiritually 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾"

Being in a relationship with a possessive partner is emotionally draining and physically tiring. As a man or woman, being possessive over your partner can only damage the relationship.

There are many reasons why people might feel possessive in their relationship, including having trust issues, being jealous, or having low self-esteem.

Here are some tips to keep things in perspective if you feel yourself or your partner spiralling into a possessive state.

1. Forget about the past

Maybe you have been cheated on or lied to before, but this is a new relationship. Don’t let the past ruin what you have going for you now. Your partner is a different person than your ex, and deserves a fresh start. Not to mention, you will feel better if you let the past go. You can’t change anything that’s already happened, so release the past hurt and focus on the relationship you’re in now.

2. Don’t be overbearing

The more you worry your partner doesn’t love you or isn’t being honest with you, the more you will push him or her away. No one wants to be with a needy person, so don’t pile all your fears and worries about love on your partner. Trust that they love you because they chose to be in a relationship with you. If you make your partner feel like they have done something bad even when they haven’t, they might wonder what it is worth to be good.

3. Live your own life

If you have your own job, your own hobbies, and your own social life, then you will be a more interesting person to your partner. It’s important to spend time together, of course, but it’s also fun to spend time apart and have different things to share and talk about when you’re together.

4. Don’t let jealousy eat you alive

Jealousy is not only a fast relationship killer, but it will make you feel bitter and hateful in your daily life. That green-eyed monster is quick to cut you down and make you feel worthless. Turn that attitude into something positive by realizing that your partner is with you because you are a great, quality person all on your own. You don’t need to be jealous about anyone else they may be spending time with. Make sure you know your self-worth and realize that your partner is lucky to be with you.

5. Know each other’s friends

A great way to keep from being jealous is to be familiar with each other’s social circles. If you know who your partner is spending time with, you will know there’s no reason to worry. An added bonus is that you might like their friends and want to spend time with them as well.

6. Don’t try to change your partner

You knew who your partner was when you got involved in the relationship—why do you want to change him or her now? Telling yourself that the other person needs to change could just be your easy answer to any problem you might be having in the relationship.

7. Try to find the root of the problem

Why do you feel possessive in your relationship? Whether it’s a fear from a past relationship, or even something that happened in childhood, you need to figure out what is causing you to feel and act this way. It will help you come to terms with your issue and conquer it, which in turn will make you feel better and will help future relationships.

8. Trust your partner and yourself

Often people feel insecure about others because they are projecting something they see in themselves. You might worry that your partner flirts when he or she goes out with friends because you flirt when you go out with friends.

9. Don’t spy

Checking emails of an account that’s been left open, scrolling through sent text messages, perusing the browser history, it might seem normal and harmless, but it’s creating cracks in the relationship. You clearly think there’s something to find, and that hurts the trust you have or should have for your partner.

Not to mention, it’s awkward if they catch you. Keep yourself busy. Do something in another room while they are on the phone so you are not tempted to eavesdrop. Make sure you each sign out of your email accounts before leaving the computer. Over time, if you don’t have chances to spy, it will slip from your mind and you will stop feeling the urge to keep tabs on your partner.

10. Be open about your issues

Tell your partner how you feel, without making it sound like you are blaming them. Tell them about the issue from your past that makes it hard for you to trust. Tell them how you feel when they do certain things. Make sure you are presenting things as an open dialog, not as a fight. If you are open and honest about things that bother you, your partner is more likely to hear you out. If you are both on the same page, it will help you to stop being possessive. Once everything is out in the open, you can start working through it together.

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has footed the bill of kidney transplant operation of 22-year-old Nayif Ismail at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, AKTH, Kano. Mr Ismail has been battling with severe kidney disease for two years as both organs have been damaged, a situation that prompted transplant.

The patient, a Quranic school teacher, is now undergoing dialysis twice a week at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Hospital in the Kano metropolis and is in critical condition.

The emir, who visited the patient at the dialysis unit of the hospital on Tuesday, said all arrangements have been completed for the surgery at the AKTH.

The monarch ordered the chief medical director of the hospital to facilitate immediate transfer of the patient to the teaching hospital for commencement of the surgery.

“We have made all arrangements for his surgery at AKTH. You should please transfer him immediately to the hospital for the commencement of the operation,” the emir ordered.

The emir also pledged to continue assisting the poor in every aspect of life, urging the wealthy individuals to use their fortunes in providing succour to the needy.

In his remark, the chief medical director, Usman Aliyu, told the emir that both kidneys have been damaged and that the only way solution was the transplant.

“He is supposed to be having three dialysis a week but due to financial problem, we have resorted to two per week as his condition degenerated,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Mr Nayif, despite his critical health condition, presented a gift of Holy Qur’an to the emir in appreciation.

Mr Ismail’s brother, Asad Ismail, also thanked the emir on behalf of the family.

“The emir has fulfilled our dreams of seeing him get transplant. We thank him for this kind gesture. Only God can reward him. We also thank everybody for your support,” he said.

Guys Please “Stop Opening Bottles With Your Teeth” by Airdy(m) : 9:48 pm On May 10

I use to feel sorry, whenever i see people open bottles with their teeth. It is not even like most of them have the best set of teeth, and i’m very sure that majority of them them don’t visit the dentists too as necessary.

A singer once praised us for this “super power”, and i can’t help but imagine how super we do feel after showing this our uniquely stupid super power.

Opening bottles with your teeth can crack your teeth, it can get the cusps of your teeth fractured, it can cause (serious) tooth breaks, it can split your tooth, and it can get your tooth(s) dislodged too.

So, why would you want to risk these serious damages when you can always get a bottle opener?

Why would put yourself in serious pain(s) when you can go for a canned drink instead?

Plastic drinks are all over Nigeria this days, so why will you insist on taking that risk?

Plastic and Canned drinks are more convenient, and environmental friendly; they are more portable, and easier to transport than there bottled counterparts too, so let us all learn how to use them.

please stay safe, and always remember that: No hard man, we all bleed red…

Why Mercy Aigbe’s Husband Was Remanded In Prison by Airdy(m) : 9:48 pm On May 10

Don't allow money be the basis for you to jealous another person's marriage or for you to accept a marriage proposal. People become rich and others become broke everyday. Someone who's rich today could go broke and another who was broke could become rich. Life happens.

Let sincerity be your guide, so the Lord can bless you with the right person for life.

Olanrewaju Gentry, husband of actress Mercy Aigbe, has been remanded in Kirikiri Prison, Lagos, after he was arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for beating his wife.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Y.O. Aje-Afunwa, gave him a bail condition in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Before he could meet the bail conditions, the presiding magistrate had closed for the day.

He was subsequently remanded in prison.

Mercy Aigbe had accused her estranged husband of seven years of assaulting her repeatedly.

52-year-old Gentry turned himself in on Tuesday and was subsequently arraigned in court.

He was arraigned by Inspector Egbogun Katherine on three counts bordering on conduct likely to cause breach of the peace, physical assault, and causing grievous bodily harm.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and elected summary trial.

His defence counsel asked for his bail in liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Aje-Afunwa, admitted him to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She said the sureties, one of which must have a house within the jurisdiction of the court, must submit their tax verification documents and house addresses to the police.

The case was adjourned till July 12, 2017.

Australian senator breastfeeds her daughter in Parliament during sitting (Photo) by Airdy(m) : 11:23 pm On May 10

An Australian senator made political history on Tuesday by becoming the first woman to breast-feed a baby in the country's federal parliament.

Larissa Waters, the co-deputy leader of Australia's Green party, breast-fed her daughter, Alia, in the senate chamber during a vote.

Waters just returned to parliament for the first time after giving birth to Alia, her second daughter, earlier this year. Waters shared a photo of the historic moment on Twitter, which has received hundreds of retweets and responses.

Last year, she pushed for changes in the Australian Senate to allow new mothers and fathers to take care of their newborns in parliament. Children were banned from the chamber under previous rules. The Senate and House of Representative both adapted the new rules, making it a "family friendly" parliament in Australia.
