The first son of Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, Ahamefula Rochas Okorocha today graduated from Imperial College London with M. Sc degree in Mechanical Engineering. He had a few years back obtained a First Class degree in Engineering.

Nigeria’s controversial On-Air Personality, OAP, Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze has called out Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed over his appeal to General Oversee of the Synagogue of all Nations, Prophet T.B Joshua against relocating his ministry from Nigeria to Israel.

The social commentator lashed out on the Nigerian government for urging T.B Joshua to abandon his plan to relocate his ministry to Israel.



Mohammed had during the week appealed to T.B Joshua to stay in Nigeria.

However, Daddy Freeze questioned the rationale behind the public appeal when better attention should be given to the cash-trapped companies giving oxygen to the local economy.



He wrote via his Instagram page, “Dear uncle LAI,
“Aren’t you going to give a press statement on Banky’s engagement, as this issue is a matter of national importance, reported by all the newspaper and blogs and has been trending all day on twitter?

“In my humble opinion, I think you should, since you addressed TB Joshua’s proposed relocation.

“Meanwhile, I didn’t see any press conference addressing the Erisco tomato paste manufacturer’s exit from Nigeria to Senegal, sorry I meant Kenya, citing government policy inconsistencies among the many other issues, catalytic to the creation of ‘the harsh realities of doing business in Nigeria’ that their MD spoke about.

“In his own words, Chief Eric Umeofia stated that the ‘ease of doing business’ was his attraction in opening shop in the other African Nations.
“I have a question: In Nigeria, does ‘the ease of doing business’ only apply to Churches, who are pampered and protected by the government, while most businesses I know suffer?

The Redeemed Christian Church of God has announced the death of the Assistant General Overseer and Pastor-in-charge of RCCG, West African coast, Pastor Olu Obanure.


Obanure became the Assistant General Overseer in charge of Establishment following his investiture at the 64th Annual Convention of the church last August.

According to a statement announcing Obanure’s demise and signed by the church’s Head, Media & Public Relations, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, the AGO died on Tuesday May 2, 2017 at the age of 65.

He had operated from Ghana. The statement had read:

“Pastor Olu Obanure was appointed the assistant general overseer in charge of Establishment during the 64th Annual Convention of the Mission in August 2016. 

“He had served the Mission in such various capacities as the special assistant to the general overseer (Admin/Personnel) pastor-in charge of West Coast with base in Accra Ghana and as the provincial pastor, Northern Province 5 with headquarters in Abuja. 

“The Kogi-state born man of God had a Masters Degree in Communications and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan. “He is survived by his wife and children.”

A young man, identified simply as Peace, has been inflicted with series of machete cut injuries after fighting his former lover’s new guy at Amaoba-Ime, Umuahia area of Abia State.

Witnesses said that Peace and his opponent, Divine Ndudim aka Defence, were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, Abia State, after a bloody fight over a lady called Felicity Ogechi.

While Peace had his forehead and nose sliced, Ndudim sustained a swollen hand and had internal bleeding. Witnesses are, however, insisting that it was Ndudim’s brother, who attacked Peace with a machete.

He was said to have attacked, after witnessing how Peace used a stick to attack Ndudim because of Ogechi. The incident has plunged the community, Amaoba-Ime into shock.

Some of the elders in the community said that it was a taboo for two persons from the same village to fight and shed blood.

The taboo is called ‘Erim.’ The consequence of that spilling blood is death; if a spiritual cleansing is not quickly carried out. Peace was Ogechi’s former lover until he turned her to a punching bag.

Ogechi borne the beatings until Peace called it quits between them.

It was gathered that several attempts made by Ogechi to start a new relationship always failed because Peace would threaten and sometimes attack every prospective lover. Ndudim, who just came from Lagos State to the village, saw Ogechi and fell in love with her.

He expressed his feelings for her and she accepted.

The relationship was already beginning to take root, when Peace heard about it and went after Ndudim. Witnesses said that Peace took to attacking and beating Ndudim.

Ndudim bore the beating and humiliation. On that fateful day of April 22, Peace came to attack Ndudim again, but got more than he bargained for.

A member of the community, who didn’t wish to be mentioned, said he witnessed the incident. He said: “It was Peace that started the trouble.

He has been harassing Ndudim for long. Peace is a former lover of Ogechi. He used to beat her every day.

He was also the one that told Ogechi that it was over between them. After breaking up with her, he refused to allow any guy to date her in the community.

Peace used to harass and threaten any guy that wants to date Ogechi. Peace even threatened to kill Ndudim if he sees him with Ogechi. “On the eve of the fight that led to the machete being used, Ndudim was seeing Ogechi off, when Peace suddenly jumped out from the bush and, as usual, pounced on Ndudim. He beat him up.

The following morning, Peace saw Ndudim and this time, attacked him with a stick. Unfortunately, Peace attacked Ndudim in the presence of his brother.

The brother ran and returned with a machete and attacked Peace.” The machete cuts were so severe that Peace was rushed to the hospital, where his injuries were stitched to save him from bleeding to death.

Ndudim, who was attacked with a stick, was also taken to the hospital. Doctors said he has internal bleeding and that the blood would have to be sucked out to save his life.

Family members of Ndudim were said to have been spending a lot of money on medical bills since the incident.

The matter was later reported to the police and investigation started.

New Telegraph reported that President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Mike Ogirima, confirmed that between 10,000 and 15,000 Nigerian doctors are working outside the country. Ogirima told that about 90 per cent of those working outside the country are trained in Nigeria where they acquired their capacity.

The NMA President noted that between 40,000 and 60,000 doctors are working in the country.

Ogirima said:

“Nigeria has trained these doctors while other countries are making use of them. That is a sad thing. Of course in a country where the working environment is not conducive, what do you expect? “So, we expect the government to improve the working environment, provide the necessary tools for the doctors to work with and give them needed welfare to encourage them to stay in the country.”

Just last month, over 500 doctors took examination for possible recruitment placement abroad.

For Nigerian doctors looking for employment in the United States, they write the United States Medical Licensing Examination, while those seeking employment opportunities in the United Kingdom write examination with the Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB). Unfortunately, the conditions driving the migration have worsened with more doctors working for several months in the country without salaries.

While providing an insight into the trend, a top member of the NMA told New Telegraph that in 2015, a total number of 715 doctors departed the shores of Nigeria, seeking greener pastures in foreign countries.

“Annually, the number of Nigerian doctors departing the country to work abroad ranges between 500 to 700,” a top NMA official told our correspondent. Giving details of the doctor’s migration, a medical doctor who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said more Nigerian doctors move to the UK while a fewer number go to Canada.

“Their final destination is, however, the United States (U.S.), which offers them better remuneration and welfare package. “For these Nigerian doctors, working in the UK, Canada and other countries, including the Caribbean, working in these foreign nations is a stepping stone,” he said.

An 18-year old by the name Sophie Stonehewer, has been spared jail term after setting her 43-year-old boyfriend’s house ablaze.

Sophie, was said to have set fire to a curtain in Steven Beddows’ house while he was in bed around 3.40am on February 1.


She then ran to a neighbour’s house to raise the alarm when she couldn’t put out the fire herself and told them ‘he made me do it.’

According to Metro UK, Mr Beddows managed to put the fire out before any major damage was caused at his home in Offerton, Stockport, then refused to give statements about what had happened.


During the court the couple, it was learnt that the couple who are still together, had been arguing about their sex life before the fire was started.

Stonehewer’s defence barrister Robert Lancaster said:

“There was an argument between them it involved alcohol and sexual activity.

“The argument was of some severity which left this defendant upset and angry, and in an emotive state. It is right to say that that she was pushed in a very emotive way and she reacted to her partner in a way she had never done before and in a way that she is deeply sorry for. 

“She tried to put the fire out with her hands but didn’t have much success. She ran to a neighbouring address to raise the alarm and that friend rang the fire service and the police. When they got there the fire had been put out by Mr Beddows. 

“The defendant was in hysterics and she was deeply upset and deeply fearful of Mr Beddows reaction of what she had done. She accepts what she had done and then she became more hysterical when she was arrested and taken to the police station.”

Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, has dismissed reports that he was injured in a recent airstrike by the Nigerian Air force.

This was revealed by a journalist close the sect leadership, Ahmad Salkida, who released a screenshot from the clip.

The Nigerian Air Force had claimed that it injured Shekau during a recent air Strike.

According to Salkida, Shekau made the video around 1pm on Thursday, less than 24 hours after news of the sect leader’s injury.

He added that Shekau spoke behind a camouflage, while reportedly boasting that the military will never find his whereabouts.

Salkida wrote, “Shekau boasted that his whereabouts will never be known to authorities and ended the clip with ‘Shekau yananan. Inanan, inanan, inanan’”.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has revealed that the owner of the building where $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23, 218,000 was discovered in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

According to DAILYPOST, The commission has named Mrs. Folashade Oke, the wife of the suspended Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, Ayo Oke as the owner of Flat 7B, No. 13, Osborne Road, Osborne Towers.



Recall that the agency had laid claim to the money.

The EFCC, revealed that Mrs. Oke made a cash payment of $1.658m for the purchase of the flat between August 25 and September 3, 2015.



The agency further said she purchased the property in the name of a company, Chobe Ventures Limited, to which she and her son, Master Ayodele Oke Junior, were directors.

Payment for the purchase of the flat was said to have been made to one Fine and Country Limited.

The EFCC stated that Mrs. Oke made the cash payment in tranches of $700,000, $650,000 and $353,700 to a Bureau de Change company, Sulah Petroleum and Gas Limited, which later converted the sums into N360,000,000 and subsequently paid it to Fine and Country Limited for the purchase of the property.

The EFCC on Friday tendered the receipt issued by Fine and Country Limited to Chobe Ventures Limited as an exhibit before the Federal High Court in Lagos, where it is seeking an order of final forfeiture of the recovered money to the FG.

In an affidavit filed before the court, a Detective Inspector with the EFCC, Mohammed Chiroma, stated that “Chobe Ventures Limited is not into any business but was merely incorporated to retain proceeds of suspected unlawful activities of Mrs. Folashade Oke.”

While urging the presiding judge, Justice Muslim Hassan, to order the permanent forfeiture of the funds to the FG, Oyedepo argued that the fact that Flat 7B, Osborne Towers was purchased in a criminal manner, made the N13bn recovered therein “extremely suspicious to be proceeds of unlawful acts.”
