The 21-year-old youngster scored 18 goals and recorded six assists in 31 appearances across all competitions for the club before the season in France was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The former Wolfsburg striker was also named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season.

Osimhen follows in the footsteps of fellow Super Eagle striker, Moses Simon, who was also named Player of the Season by his French club FC Nantes.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state,  his wife Nkechi, and their children have tested negative for COVID -19 just as two of his aides have tested positive for the virus.

A statement released by the state governor says the test was carried out on his family and aides on Saturday, May 30.

“Leading this battle from the front, as your Governor, I and all members of the first family subjected ourselves to COVID-19 tests on Saturday, May 30, 2020, and the results came out negative today. Unfortunately, the results of two of my aides, who also subjected themselves to COVID-19 tests were positive, while others turned in negative results.

We are confident that within days, the currently asymptomatic positive patients who are now isolated will be successfully nursed back to good health, with God on our side”.

The new phase of the fight against COVID-19 in Abia will require that the state embark on massive tests of citizens to achieve at least 10 percent coverage of our population at the initial stage of the exercise.

To this end, the state epidemiologist has been directed to work out modalities for case searches, using sample population size of between 30 to 250 persons, in some densely populated Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

Meanwhile, we cannot win and save lives, as long as we continue to stigmatize our patients. If any person contracts COVID-19, it will be saddening but it is neither criminal nor necessarily the person’s fault.

Let me put it on record that statistics show that far more people recover from the virus than those who pass away from it,” he stated.

The Governor has also directed all Chairmen of the 17 Local Government Areas of the State, and their deputies to present themselves for COVID-19 test.

“Further to my earlier directive on the testing of members of the State Executive Council, I wish to direct that all Transition Council Chairmen of our 17 LGAs, and their Deputies, present themselves for COVID-19 tests and thereafter isolate themselves pending the release of their test results.

I urge all citizens and residents to eschew rumour mongering and get involved in the battle against COVID-19. Take responsibility, because Abia is ready to win this battle with all hands on deck” Ikpeazu appealed.

Shortly after Peruzzi went on Instagram live to counter claims from his alleged rape victim, Twitter users have dug up tweets of the singer from 2011 and 2012 acknowledging he raped someone.

Earlier today, a lady accused singer Peruzzi of raping her in 2012, and also gave details of how the alleged rape happened, saying she is choosing to speak now due to the “boldness” of other rape victims.

Some tweets from Peruzzi from 8/9 years ago, shows him saying he has already raped the person he plans to rape one day. In another, he threatened to rape a lady if she talks anyhow after he requested for food.

78-Year-Old Widow Killed By Suspected Ritualists In Ekiti, Her Body Parts Harvested

A 78-year-old widow, Sabianah Aranilewa, has been killed by suspected ritualists who harvested her body parts in the Ikere-Ekiti, the headquarters of Ikere Council Area of Ekiti state.

The Nation reports that Mrs. Aranilewa was declared missing by her family members last week Friday, May 29. Her son, Eyitope Aranilewa who was interviewed, said his mother was  washing clothes in front of her residence situated at the popular Moshood road, Odo-Oja area of Ikere-Ekiti before she went missing.

He said his mother’s friend simply identified as Mrs. Ojolo raised an alarm and swiftly organized a search party but efforts to find her proved abortive until 4pm of the same day when her corpse was found inside a shallow flowing stream with her throat slit and vital organs harvested.

“On that fateful day I got a distress call that my mother was missing. It was my mother’s friend, one Mrs Ojolo who lives within a short distance from her shop that raised the alarm when she did not see her in the shop.

The matter was instantly reported to the Police. It was while at the police station that information came that the corpse of Mrs Arannilewa was found at a place not far from the home.

She was slaughtered like a goat and the corpse dumped in a shallow stream flowing through the back of her home” he said.

The spokesperson of the state police command, Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident, described it as an unfortunate and mysterious one. He said investigations have since commenced and efforts are being made to apprehend those behind the dastard act.

Meanwhile the corpse of late Mrs. Aranilewa has been deposited in the morgue of the State Specialist Hospital, Ikere Ekiti.

According to reports, the mother and her child were on a motorcycle that was taking them to their destination when a tanker lost control and rammed into them, crushing the mother and her child into pieces.

Thousands of French protesters defied a police ban on large gathering and converged on the main Paris courthouse for a demonstration to show solidarity with U.S. protesters over the death of George Floyd, the black man who was killed by a White police officer in Minneapolis last week.

The protesters were seen clapping, cheering and waving signs reading “Black Lives Matter” and “Police Everywhere, Justice Nowhere,” as they peacefully gathered outside the main Paris courthouse on Tuesday.

Nigerian actor, Seun Ajayi has detailed some of his experiences on set as he cationed men in Nollywood to desist from harassing women.

He said he has witnessed multiple cases of sexual assault on set and some of them were so bad.

He mentioned a particular incident where a man kept groping a woman on set and refused to stop even after he was cautioned. He only stopped after he got a letter from the lady's lawyer.

In a video captioned "Sexual harassment in Nollywood! My brothers let's do better" the actor said: "This video is directed to my brothers in the Nollywood industry.

"I see this a lot and whenever I get the chance, I speak about it.

"You see, it's very important for us to let women feel safe in their work environment, but the truth is, if we really really check out, we dey mess up. In fact, forgive my French, we dey f**k up. 

"I went to sleep agitated and I woke up with my heart beating very fast because I could not wait to address this.

"Many times I'll see male colleagues harass ladies on set.

"There was one time I was on set and it was so bad and this guy was constantly commenting on this girl's bum and groping her and everyone told him to stop. I told him to stop several times and he didn't until he was officially written by the girl's lawyer.

"Now, what tends to happen is that this goes on, but men stay silent. The men that know better, they stay silent.

"I urge you, my brothers, that the next time you see that kind of behavior... it's not only rape oh, it's not only rape. To be inappropriate with your language is harassment, it is sexual harassment.

"The reason why these things are still sliding is because nobody has been arraigned in court for sexual harassment, nobody has lost their endorsement for sexual harassment. It's coming and we need to be careful, my brothers, we need to be careful. We can't continue to just act. We have to think before we do it.

"Please, put a lid on it and act right. It's not only producers that are preying on the ladies trying to get in the industry. It happens in many shades, in many manners. We need to be careful oh, we need to be careful.

He also called on producers and directors to intervene if they notice a crew member harassing a woman on set. He added that it's "rampant" and needs to stop.

"We need to stop this and if you see it around you, nip it in the bud. Talk to your guy," he concluded.

All four former Minneapolis officers involved in the death of Black American, George Floyd, are now facing charges in the U.S.

Their mugshots have also been released after Senator Amy Klobuchar revealed that Minnesota Attorney General, Keith Ellison is increasing charges against former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, to second-degree murder.

The Star Tribune as cited by CNN, said Derek Chauvin who had his knee pressed into Floyd’s neck for nearly 9 minutes, would face the more serious charge in the death of George Floyd.

Senator Amy noted that the 3 other officers at the scene; Thomas Lane, J. Kueng, and Tou Thao are also going to be charged for their involvement in the sad event following calls for their apprehension.

CNN reported that the 3 other former officers are to be charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.

Nevertheless, the new charges will be officially announced by Minnesota Attorney General, Keith Ellison.

Reacting to the developing story, an attorney for Floyd’s family, Benjamin Crump called it “a bittersweet moment” and “a significant step forward on the road to justice.”

Crump said Elison had told the family he would continue his investigation into Floyd’s death and upgrade the charge to first-degree murder if warranted.

A Benin High Court will on June 17 hear the suit seeking to disqualify a governorship aspirant in Edo State, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, from participating in the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening of aspirants for its primaries scheduled for June 22.

Justice Emmanuel Ahamioje gave the date on Thursday while adjourning the case instituted by the chairman of APC in Ohrionmwon Local Government Area of Edo, Benjamin Oghumu.

Mr Oghumu is praying the court to stop the screening of Mr Ize-Iyamu on the grounds that he is not a registered member of APC in the local government.

The suit was initially lodged at the Abudu High Court but later transferred to the State High Court in Benin.

The case was transferred sequel to a petition that Justice Vestie Eboreime of the Abudu High Court had been induced to secretly issue an ex-parte order, restraining APC from screening Ize-Iyamu.

There was heavy presence of security personnel around the High Court premises following the tension generated by the case.

The security operatives, together with the state Traffic Management Agency, barricaded the major roads and restricted both human and vehicular movements in the area.

A man whose name was simply given as Edafe was reportedly killed by a thunderbolt in Benin City, on Thursday (today).

Igbere TV reliably gathered that the incident happened during a ‘misery rainfall’, which lasted for only few minutes.

He was said to be working in a building site with others around the Cattle Market in Asoro Hill, Ekehuan Road when the rain started leading to them taking refuge in a nearby uncompleted building.

The thunderbolt was said to have displaced all of them as it stroke leaving Edafe dead instantly.

As at the time of filing this report, the corpse was yet to be evacuated by men of the Nigerian police force.

The Police operatives attached to the Intelligence Response Unit of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested three (3) suspects for the kidnap and gruesome murder of one Mrs Janet Nnenna Ogbonnaya on 14th May, 2020, Igbere TV reports.

In a statement made available to Igbere TV on Thursday by DCP Frank Mba, Force Public Relations Officer, said the suspects include Johnson Emmanuel – 38yrs, Gideon Emmanuel – 31yrs and Success Emmanuel – 27yrs.

The Police revealed that the victim, a widow, who had been a Facebook friend of the principal suspect – Johnson Emmanuel, was lured from her home in Gwagwalada to visit the suspect.

According to the Police, the suspect thereafter took advantage of the visit, served her yoghurt laced with drugs and subsequently had her murdered. The suspect having killed the victim and buried her remains in a septic tank, went ahead to reach out to the family of the victim using her phone and demanded 5-Million naira ransom as pre-condition for her release. ​

The statement added that the suspects, born by same parents, all male and native of Isiekenesi, Ideato LGA of Imo State were arrested by the Police in their home town where they had taken refuge after committing the crime in Abuja, in order to evade police arrest.

The Police further said that the investigations that led to the arrest of the suspects is sequel to complaints received from one Chinedu Ogbonnaya who alleged that his mother, Mrs Janet Nnenna Ogbonnaya, 55yrs, native of Ozuitem in Bende LGA of Abia State had been kidnapped and a 5-Million naira ransom demanded before she could be released.

The statement reads in parts,

“A comprehensive and painstaking investigation by the police operatives resulted in the arrest of the three (3) suspects, whom, in the course of interrogation, revealed that the victim had long been murdered and buried. Further findings revealed that the victim, a widow, who had been a Facebook friend of the principal suspect – Johnson Emmanuel, was lured from her home in Gwagwalada to visit the suspect.”

“The suspect thereafter took advantage of the visit, served her yoghurt laced with drugs and subsequently had her murdered. The suspect having killed the victim and buried her remains in a septic tank, went ahead to reach out to the family of the victim using her phone and demanded 5-Million naira ransom as pre-condition for her release.”

“Meanwhile, today 4th June, 2020, the suspects led a team of investigators alongside pathologists to a residence at Wumba District, Lokogoma, Abuja where the victim’s decomposing body was exhumed from a septic tank. The exhumed body has been taken to the University Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, Abuja for forensic examination.”

“A Toyota Highlander Jeep belonging to the deceased has also been recovered by Police operatives at a mechanic workshop in Apo where it had been repainted into a different colour, vehicle documents fraudulently changed and ownership of the stolen vehicle criminally transferred to one of the masterminds of the crime – Johnson Emmanuel.”

“Investigations also revealed that the house where the deceased was killed and buried originally belonged to one of the suspects but was hurriedly sold-off to a third party apparently to obliterate evidence.”

“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni, while commending the operatives for a job well done, reassures that perpetrators of any form of crimes in the country will not go undetected and unpunished. He however enjoins citizens to be more security conscious and report any suspicious activities within their neighbourhood to the nearest police station.”

Rebel groups in Sudan’s Darfur region have attacked a camp of the Sudanese army in western Jebel Marra area, the army said in a statement Tuesday.

“Groups belonging to the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) and Al Sahwa Revolutionary Council have attacked our forces in western Jebel Marra area,” the statement noted.

“The attack is a clear violation of the declared cease-fire and an attempt to drag Darfur back to the state of war and security chaos,” it added.

The Sudanese army said it maintains the right of defending its sites and protecting the citizens against terrorist and criminal acts by such groups.

The army also has the right to respond to any aggression and take necessary measures to eliminate threats and prevent recurrence of these terrorist acts, the statement noted.

On Oct. 16 last year, the Sudanese army declared a comprehensive cease-fire in Darfur region.

Armed groups have been fighting the government since 2003.

Since last October, South Sudan’s capital Juba has been hosting peace talks between the Sudan government and armed groups from Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile regions.

Angola will join the Group of 20 (G20) Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI), which allows the country to direct funds to combat the impact of COVID-19, the country’s finance ministry said Tuesday.

Following consultations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the ministry said in a statement that it has decided to use the G20’s DSSI to negotiate with its sovereign peers the suspension of the debt in bilateral loans.

The DSSI will be able to ease financial pressure and allow the liberalization of funds to combat the impact of COVID-19 in Angola in the coming months, according to the statement.

Without disclosing any figures, the ministry said the renegotiation of the debt focuses on the amounts owed to bilateral creditors included in the agreement proposed by the G20, which excludes private creditors.

“Following the already announced public administration reforms and budgetary adjustments, the ministry of finance is currently at an advanced stage of negotiations with some of its oil importing partners to reprogram the financing facilities to better reflect the current market environment and the production quotas of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries,” the ministry said.

Thanks to the above measures, and in cooperation with the IMF as well as its multilateral partners, the ministry believes that it is on the right track to guaranteeing the emergency aid needed for the country in 2020 and Angola’s long-term macro-financial stability.

Brazil has overtaken Italy as the country with the third-highest Coronavirus death toll after a daily record of 1,473 fatalities took its total tally to more than 34,000.

The figure published by Brazil’s health ministry on Thursday night showed that only the United States and the United Kingdom have registered more deaths from the disease.

The official number of infections rose to nearly 615,000, the second-largest caseload in the world, behind the US.

Shortly before the numbers were released, Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro said in an online broadcast: “We can’t go on like this. Nobody can take it anymore,” Bolsonaro said of the stay-at-home measures, being implemented by state governors and mayors across Brazil even as the number of infections and deaths continues to increase.

“The collateral impact will be far greater than those people who unfortunately lost their lives because of these last three months here,” Bolsonaro said.

Three members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have filed a suit against Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, for alleged certificate forgery, Igbere TV reports.

Edobor Williams, Ugbesia Godwin and Amedu Anakhu, in the suit filed before a Federal High Court in Abuja, accused the governor of forging his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) certificate in classical studies from the University of Ibadan.

According to them, the alleged offence contravenes section 182(1)(i) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), which therefore makes Obaseki “not qualified to run or seek the office of the governor of Edo state” in the forthcoming 2020 governorship election.

Counsel to the governor, Alex Ejesieme, told Daily Trust, that the lawsuit is “frivolous and irrelevant”.

He said the defence team is preparing the reply to challenge the plaintiffs in court next week.

Obaseki is seeking a second term in office but with stiff opposition from his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole, who is also the APC national chairman.
