Pedro Sanchez, the Prime Minister of Spain announced on Saturday that La Liga can resume from its coronavirus lockdown on the week of June 8.

“The resumption of major professional sporting competitions and in particular La Liga will be allowed from the week of June 8,” Sanchez told a press conference.

More than two months after the COVID-19 pandemic halted the season in Spain, players have begun training in small groups as they aim to be as ready as possible for the planned reboot next month.

Singer, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has revealed that fellow singer, Cynthia Morgan, now known as Madrina, once rejected a contract he offered her.

Ghanaian youngster Christopher Antwi-Adjei featured for SC Paderborn 07 as they were held to a 1-1 stalemate by TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday in the Bundesliga.

The 26-year-old lasted the entire duration as the home side secured a vital point at Benteler Arena.

Danish international Skov netted for Hoffenheim after just four minutes.

A Premier League footballer has been accused of ‘gang rape’ by a woman who claims her drink was spiked during a lockdown party.

This comes just days after Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, 19, was accused of rape in an unrelated alleged incident.

According to Daily Star, the alleged victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, claimed her drinks were spiked with drugs. She also alleged that she was assaulted by  the unknown footballer and a number of his friends in a rented flat.

The woman reportedly complained to police the day after the alleged gang rape and the detectives interviewed her, while forensic medical staff, as well as doctors, have examined her.

A friend of the woman said she had no recollection of the night’s events and was “acting strangely” and “out of character”

The friend said: “She could barely stand the night before, there is no way she was in any state to consent to sex.”

The alleged victim said when she woke up in the flat the next morning she was naked, with scratches on her legs. She also said the player was also naked in bed next to her.

According to the woman, when she asked him what had happened the player told her they had sex, and then left the room.

She also alleged that she received an anonymous call from someone the following day, who told her the player and his friends had spiked her drink before she then went to a police station and made the rape ­allegation.

Singer and CEO of Whitenicious, Dencia has lambasted Burna Boy and his girlfriend,  Stefflon Don on her Twitter account.

Dencia called Burna Boy  ‘one of the biggest haters in the industry’, adding that the Odogwu singer and his girlfriend, Stefflon Don bullies everyone.

Popular Argentine captain and Barcelona playmaker, Lionel Messi has taken an entirely new look after he shaved off his beards.

The football legend shared photos of his new look on his Instagram page today.

The pictures were taken during his recent training ahead of the La Liga restart next month.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old has made no official statement on why he shaved off his beards completely.

However, speculations are already in place. While some suggested he shaved because of Covid-19, others insisted the soccer geek just wanted a change in looks.

Arewa has remained the number 1 trending topic on Twitter for hours after Northern youths took to Twitter to share photos as they celebrated Eid Mubarak.

Most of the photos were taken while standing close to their luxury cars. Some went as far as sharing videos of their garage with numerous luxury cars. Others posed for photos in private jets.

Other Twitter users were amazed at how much money is in the North.

One particular Twitter user who posed with two Rolls Royce cars in the background shocked people when he revealed his father has 3 Rolls Royce and 7 BMWs.

The show of wealth angered some Nigerians from the South. They alleged the northerners’ wealth is from “oil” and also money made from politics and public funds.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says its appointments always adhere to the principle of merit, transparency, accountability and placement of square pegs in square holes.

Kennie Obateru, NNPC spokesman said this in a statement Sunday sent to IGBERETV.

The corporation in March disengaged some of its staff and appointed new top management officials.

This triggered criticisms from Nigerians, Niger Delta leaders and groups.

But the corporation is insisting that federal character was also a factor in the progression of the newly appointees.

NNPC said many top management officers of the corporation were moved to new positions, while some were promoted based on their verifiable track records of performance.

Obateru said some “Chief Operating Officers, Group General Managers and Managing Directors of subsidiaries were affected in what some industry analysts described as the most objective placement exercise in the recent history of the National Oil Company”.

He noted that the changes saw the re-deployment of the erstwhile COO, Upstream, Roland Ewubare, to the Ventures and Business Development Directorate as COO.

NNPC said Ewubare’s position as COO Upstream was taken over by Adeyemi Adetunji, erstwhile COO in charge of Downstream directorate.

It added that Lawrencia Ndupu, redeployed to the Downstream, is a Physicist and renowned explorationist that has held many key positions.

Bala Wunti, the erstwhile MD of the Petroleum Products Marketing Company was appointed as the new GGM of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS).

The statement added that Lawal Sade, the new MD of the NNPC Trading Company, was the MD of NIDAS, a shipping arm of the company.

Then spokesman said the exercise retained Adokiye Tombomieye, from the South-South, as GGM, Crude Oil Marketing.

130 people come forward to claim they are Jeffrey Epstein’s children after the pedophile’s $635 million estate was put on the line for inheritance

A website created by a DNA company to find any possible heirs to deceased financier Jeffrey Epstein’s multi-million dollar estate has heard from 130 people claiming to be the convicted pedophile’s children.

If any are found to be the former financier’s children, they could lay claim to a piece his US$635 million ($1.04 billion) estate, which includes his Manhattan mansion, Zorro Ranch in Stanley, New Mexico, and a luxury 30-hectare estate, dubbed “paedophile island”, the Daily Mail reported.

About 386 people contacted Epsteinheirs.com, with 30 percent saying they are not sure but think they might be his offspring.

The American billionaire financier, 66, took his life in a Manhattan jail cell in August while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges. Epstein had never married and was not known to have had any children. He left his assets in a trust after his death.

Earlier this year, Epstein’s estate was valued at $635 million, an increase from about $577 million after the sale of some of its assets.

Executors reportedly sold five of Epstein’s cars including a $195,000 Bentley, a $133,200 Mercedes, and three Chevrolet Suburbans worth a total of $112,000.

His estate also closed four bank accounts associated with his companies. The accounts held more than $500,000 in cash combined.

According to the report, more than two dozen women who have filed lawsuits accusing Epstein of sexually abusing them could stand to receive a portion of a settlement fund, which is being created by lawyers currently managing the estate.

FG Palliatives Rotting Under Rain, Sun In Kano

Nigerian Government food items delivered to Kano State government as palliatives are left rotten at open space and are being beaten by rain and sun, The Guardian has gathered.

The Federal government two weeks ago delivered 110 trucks of food items to the state meant to be distributed to vulnerable and less privileged whose sources of survival are being crumbled due to lockdown directive. No thanks to COVID-19 pandemic.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Farouq delivered the consignment on Sunday 17th May, 2020.

The palliatives include 5,318 metric tonns of rice; 2,438 metric tonns of maize; 1,380 metric tonns of millet and 900 metric tonns of Sorghum.

Worried to notice, however, the relief items worth millions of naira are still left abandoned at the warehouse of Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO) premises at Farm centre without cover to prevent from any circumstantial damage.

The food items which already opened to any eventualities, are being drained by three consecutive rain fall; several bags already soaked by water, The Guardian gathered.

A source at the premises who regretted how the food items left rotten under the rains, told The Guardian the consignment have spent more than one week unattended to.

“Many people are living hungry because they cannot go to fetch for their daily sources of livelihood. Government brought the food to assistant people but look at the items here under the rain and in the sun. How can people be starving and food meant for them left idle this is wrong”.

When contacted, Chairman of the State Fundraising Committee and Vice Chancellor, Bayero University Kano, Professor Mohammed Yahuza Bello explained that plan for the evacuation and distribution of the Federal government palliatives is slated to commence on Thursday.

Professor Bello who led the distribution of the first phase of the state owned palliatives stressed that the committee is being constraint by logistics from government, which he noted is being addressed.

Although, Kano State government recently disbursed similar palliatives to 50,000 households across the 484 political wards in the state.

The palliatives being handled by the adhoc committee on COVID-19 fundraising had announced two weeks ago plan to commence the Federal government palliatives to additional 50,000 households across the 44 local government area to crushing the effect of the COVID-19 induced lockdown.

The Ghanaian landlord who shot his tenant dead for refusing to vacate his property at the expiration of his tenancy, has been identified as Victor Stephen Nana Kankam.

We reported earlier that the landlord shot and killed 31-year-old Kobby on Monday, May 25, after meeting him in his room at Ofankor Spot M in Accra. The underground musician had stayed back at the apartment after being unable to conclude packing his items.

While being interrogated by the police, the suspect said he killed his tenant in self-defence. He also mentioned one Mr ‘Kanani’, the head of the CID at Mamprobi police station as the one who gave him the guns he used in shooting his tenant.

Kankam said the CID officer gave him the weapons when his house was burgled in 2008.

Chernobyl Diaries star Dimitri Diatchenko’s official cause of death has finally been uncovered, five weeks after he was found dead at his Florida home.

Medical examiners found that the 52-year-old actor died from an accidental fentanyl and valium overdose. He also suffered from cardiomegaly (an enlarged heart) as well as moderate coronary artery disease.

TMZ reported that his death has been listed as misadventure following ‘illicit drug abuse with prescription drug use.’

The medical report which revealed that Diatchenko was injured at work several days before his death after being hit with 220 volts of electricity, ruled out delayed arrhythmia from the electrical shock as a mitigating factor in his untimely death.

The actor who was born in San Francisco to a Ukranian father and Swedish mother and best known for his role in the 2012 movie Chernobyl Diaries, reportedly had long-term prescriptions for both hydrocodone, an opioid that is traditionally used to treat extreme pain, and diazepam.

President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari abruptly lost connection on Thursday while address a United Nations event, The PUNCH reports.

The virtual meeting tagged “High-Level Event on Financing for Development in the Era of COVID-19 and Beyond”, was at the instance of the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres.

Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau and his Jamaican counterpart, Andrew Holness, co-hosted the high-level discussions, with over 50 world leaders participating.

Buhari’s connection from Abuja had hitches right from the start, as he went on and off for seconds before the video connection went off completely.

The organisers quickly called on the Prime Minister of Thailand, Prayut Chan-o-cha, to make his own presentation.

Chan-o-cha too seemed to have connection issues, but he substituted his presentation with a pre-recorded video speech.

A number of connections from other leaders also had brief hitches.

Before his connection went off, Buhari had highlighted the impact of COVID -19 on African countries, particularly their loss of revenues, making it difficult for them to fund their 2020 budget.

For Nigeria, he said it was hard-hit by the crash in oil revenue, the mainstay of its monolithic economy.

However, Buhari informed his co-participants that his regime had introduced measures, including retooling the economy through “home-grown strategies” to ensure that Nigeria survived the pandemic now and beyond.

French Ligue 1 club Nantes have named Super Eagles winger Moses Simon, as their best player for the 2019-20 season after the 24-year-old was voted by the club’s fans for the prestigious award.

Simon joined Nantes on a season-long loan from La Liga club Levante last summer and helped them reach 13th in the French Ligue table before the season was called off due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Simon scored nine goals across all competitions, including five Ligue 1 goals and he registered eight assists – the highest in the team.

In a poll conducted by the club’s fans on the club’s official website, the Nigeria winger won 40 per cent of the total 3,500 votes recorded to win the award.

“With nine goals and eight assists in 30 games played, all competitions combined, Moses Simon left a lasting impression. He is voted “Canary of the 2019-2020 season by Iliane” by you, supporters of the Yellow and Green,” the club announced.
