Policeman Shot Dead, three Others Injured as Gunmen Attack Diamond Bank Owerri by obran(m) : 4:42 am On May 06 |

Suspected gunmen today Friday May 5th, 2017 attacked Diamond Bank at Item street, Owerri, the Imo State capital while trying to rob an expatriate contractor who drove into the bank to carry out financial transactions and accompanied by his police orderly.Unknown to the foreign contractor, his driver and orderly they were trailed by suspected kidnappers or bank robbers. Trying to disarm the police officer for an easy way to their target (expatriate contractor), the gunmen shot repeatedly at the police orderly who was brave enough to challenge them even with gun shot injuries. The awareness created and the combined firepower of the police officers attached to the bank were enough to repel the alleged kidnappers. Attempt made by the driver to rush the police orderly, and the white man to a nearby hospital met a brick wall as he was alleged to have ran into a traffic jam along prison junction by Okigwe road, Owerri, and an effort made to take one-way resulted to a collision with an oncoming vehicle loaded with passengers. The police officer thereafter died while three other persons including the driver of the incoming vehicle and two of his passengers sustained injuries and currently admitted to a hospital. The corpse of the police officer, identified as Hussain Jamaiz has been evacuated and taken to the morgue by the officers of Imo Police Command.

Abdulfatah Ahmed Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria Godwin Emefiele Senator Shaaba Lafiagi and Senator Abdulahi Adamu Delighted to see the progress that has been made in 13 years, most especially because they now employ over 1000 Kwarans and are creating opportunities daily for out grower farmers. It is my belief that with the governor of Central Bank witnessing first hand what Kwara State has been able to achieve with commercial farming, same will be replicated all over Nigeria to fully diversify our economy and engage our teeming youth'.

 We learnt your family had it rough even though you were all born into affluence…Yes it did; we went from hero to zero. I think the major problem was the fact that my parents broke up. Their unity progressed their business but their divorce destroyed everything. What made them tick, powerful and rich was the togetherness of the family. They built everything around each other and it was a joint venture; so separation crashed their business. At the time, we had to go with our mother because she had more grounds to take care of us. Our father said he would come back for us but I did not see him for years. It happened in 1991 but I did not get to see him again till 1998. We were in such a bad state that we were drinking garri for seven months consecutively without any break and at a point, we owed the Mallam that was selling it for us. I am still looking for him to pay him back. In the midst of all that, no one ever looked at us and said that we were suffering because we never saw it as poverty. I think poverty is a state of mind. I catered for myself when we lacked by going to the farm, I would harvest vegetables and sell to make money.Do you hold that against him? No. When you are growing up, you could hold a grudge against your parents but when you are mature and you are able to use your negative surrounding to find positivity, then you don’t see what they did as bad but a process of growth. The lack and riches that I experienced has made me to appreciate life and balance things. If I don’t have money today, I would not be afraid and if I have surplus, I would not go over the top because I have experienced both worlds. 
What led to your parents’ separation?
That is a question meant for my parents. Every couple who has a failed marriage would tell you different reasons why it did not work out even though some might sound flimsy. I cannot tell you what led to the failure of my parents’ marriage but I can only guarantee that mine would not fail. I have it behind my mind that I have to make sure my marriage is a success because of what happened to my parents’. I have seen what broken home has done to several families and what it also did to us. If not for the fact that God raised us, we would have been destroyed as kids. No child should be allowed to grow up in a broken home except maybe one of the parents died. It is not good for the mindset of the young people who are supposed to be the leaders of tomorrow. Our own was just a special case because God raised us and even though we had every reason to be wayward, we did not choose that path.

According to the video’s introduction aired on the Israeli Channel 2, “the man responsible for 60% of the tourism in Nigeria announced that he is moving to Israel.†â€He is often seen in the company of Rabbi Yehuda Meshi-Zahav, the Founder of Israel’s award-winning rescue agency, ZAKA, who recently presented Joshua with an award in honour of his extensive humanitarian efforts. “How did you get your power,†an Israeli journalist questioned Joshua in an interview, intrigued by the clips of ‘deliverance from demonic possession’ he viewed on Emmanuel TV. “From my Father, Jesus, who was born in this land. An Assistant Superintendent of Customs has allegedly committed suicide in Lungu Village, Gwarinpa, Abuja The cause of the suicide was yet to be ascertained. Sources said the man, identified as Christian, 44, locked himself in a room and hung himself with a rope on Saturday. A source said the deceased, who was unmarried, was staying with his brother and was said to have been recently transferred to Lagos before the incident happened. The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said the brother whom the deceased stayed with was at a barber’s shop when the incident happened. He said the man was confirmed dead at the Kubwa General Hospital. “Exhibits recovered include some drugs and knife.†Preliminary investigation, he said, had revealed that the deceased was suffering from depression. Though report of the three-man Presidential Committee that investigated the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal, and the Director-General, Nigerian Intelligence Agency, NIA, Ayo Oke, is yet to be made public, both men stand suspended, a Presidency source has said. Investigations by Vanguard, last night, revealed that chairman of the committee, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo would not take any soft measure that may exonerate Lawal and Oke. The top Presidency source, privy to the workings of the committee, which concluded its assignment last week, said Osinbajo, as the Acting President, was likely to implement the outcome of the report without waiting for President Buhari’s return. The source also told Vanguard that Osinbajo was most likely to sign the 2017 budget into law should the document be passed by the National Assembly any time soon. The source said: “Look, the President, before leaving, had briefed Osinbajo. He had empowered him to do certain things on his behalf. Both had some discussions on a wide range of issues. The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Sen. Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday said that the Peoples Democratic Party would not record any win in the forthcoming council polls in Lagos State. Tinubu, a former governor of the state, said this while addressing hundreds of party faithful at the Lagos State APC Stakeholders’ meeting at the party secretariat at Acme Road, Ikeja. The stakeholders’ forum was held in preparation for the July 22 council polls. Tinubu regretted the loss of some national and state legislative seats to the PDP in the 2015 general elections. “2015 election was the greatest battle of our time. In the last election, we lost more than three LGAs to our opponents, which is very unusual. “We have asked our leaders in those local governments to examine what went wrong and work together to chart a new course to ensure the APC wins back those councils. “PDP cannot have any share in these council elections,†Tinubu said. The national leader commended party faithful for their support to Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration, saying that the governor had not disappointed the party and the people. “We are grateful to you the people for your great support during the 2015 election. We have continued to hold Lagos in spite of strong opposition. “Gov. Ambode has not let us down; he is doing a fantastic job in an environment where we have the economic challenges. He is doing it and he is doing very very well. “He has a very good team. He is doing a great job and we are very proud of that,†he said. Tinubu urged party leaders at the grassroots to shun bribery and favouritism, adding that quality leadership and merit should be upheld. “Our leaders should be fair to the people at the grassroots; we cannot please all, but we can satisfy the majority.
