One of the victims and an ardent Manchester United fan was 14-year-old Blessing Okon Udo, according to the father, Okon Udo, the late blessing was a football lover and even played too, adding that She was a student at Holy Secondary School, was in SS3 and was going to write her WAEC last month. Liverpool are to rename Anfield’s Centenary Stand in honour of club legend Kenny Dalglish.

Dalglish, 66, scored 172 goals in 515 appearances after joining the club in 1977, becoming player-manager in 1985.

The Scot won a total of eight league titles, three European Cups, two FA Cups and five League Cups in his first spell at the club, which ended in 1991.

He returned as manager in 2011, winning the 2012 League Cup, and is currently a non-executive director.

“His name is synonymous with our club, with our home and the city of Liverpool,” said owner John W Henry.

“Now it will be as visible as it is palpable.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, arraigned one Eucharia Ekezie before Justice Olasumbo Olajumoke Goodluck of the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, on a ten-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence.
Ekezie, in connivance with one Hamid Bakoji (now at large), allegedly defrauded over seventy job applicants to the tune of N3.920million under the pretext that the money would be used to facilitate employments for them in various federal government establishments including Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigeria Communication Commission, Federal Inland Revenue Service and National Assembly.

The offence contravenes Section 8 (a) and 1 (1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006.

One of the counts reads:
“That you, Mrs. Eucharia Ekezie and Hamid Bakoji (now at large), sometime between the 15/10/2012 and 06/12/12 in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, with the intent to defraud, did obtain an aggregate sum of N1, 120, 000.00 (One Million, One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Naira) via your Skye Bank account No. 1018539796 from one Eze Gereldine Uzoamaka under the false pretence that the said sum will be used to secure employments for some job applicants in Federal Government establishment, which you knew was false and thereby committed an offence, contrary to Section 1 (1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act.”
The defendant pleaded not guilty the charge.

In view of her plea, counsel to EFCC, Chris Omisaga urged the court to fix a date for trial .
However, Ekezie’s counsel, C. S. Nwaogu told the court that he had a pending application for bail of his client and prayed the court to admit the defendant to bail.

Justice Olasumbo Goodluck granted the accused bail in the sum of N2million with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must be civil servants not below Grade Level 14. The defendant must also submit her international passport to the court Registrar.

The Judge, thereafter, adjourned to June 13-14, 2017 for hearing.

Twin sisters have given birth to baby boys on the same day after both missing their identical due dates. Fraternal twins, Danielle Grant and Kim Abraham, gave birth to their sons on Friday after their due dates of April 22 passed.
Roman and Aaron came into the world just four hours apart, and the sisters were texting and FaceTiming each other from their hospital rooms.

And amazingly, the 32-year-old mums from Toms River, New Jersey, say their pregnancies were total coincidences.

They said the only thing that was consciously chosen, was date they decided to get induced after both missing their due date.
The sisters are very close and their husbands have become close as well, so they hope their sons will be like brothers.

Now, not only will they look forward to joint birthday parties for themselves, they'll also have to plan joint celebrations for their kids.

A Nigerian lady, Omongold Roland, has taken to social media to narrate what she went through when she entered a Taxi from Banex to Kubwa area of Abuja. According to her, she didn't know that the taxi she entered was 'one chance'. Her bag, her phone and every valuable thing on her was collected. She was also beaten.



However according to her, a good Samaritan saved her. Here's what she wrote;

A Judge sitting in Kogi State has sentenced 2 cattle rustlers, Muhammed Lawal Jauro and Yusuf Sanni, to death by hanging. The duo were charged before Hon. Justice Josiah Majebi of the Okene division of the High Court of Justice on four counts of criminal conspiracy to commit armed robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit criminal homicide and culpable homicide, all of which contravene sections of the Penal Code.
Justice Majebi found the cattle rustlers guilty on all the four charges despite their non-guilty plea to the offences.

According to the prosecution witness, sometimes in January 2016, one Dauda Abdullahi made a report of the gruesome murder and theft of the cows of one Haruna in one of the farm centers in Okene.

He said upon further investigation, the accused persons were arrested at Ajese-Ikpo in Kwara state while their leader, Awaijo Wetti, was still at large as at the time of the prosecution.

The first accused person, Muhammed Lawal Jauro’s confessional statement which was corroborated by the second, Yusuf Sanni, was relied upon by the court to arrive at its verdict. They both stated how they and their other gang members conspired to commit the crime in December 2015.

Jauro said, “Sometimes in the month of December, 2015, one of my friends by name Yusuf leaving at Kabba junction Zariagi called me on phone and said there are some cows belonging to one Haruna at the bush of Okene, that we should go and steal the cows. After that, our leader by name Agwaijo Wetti leaving at Tyre village along Okene-Auchi road asked us to meet at the bush of Okene which we did. It was there myself, Yusuf, Ado and our leader, Agwaijo Wetti, gathered us and led us and all of us were holding cutlasses and we met the owner of the cow rearing his cow and all of us machete him with cutlasses until he died before three of us took control of the cows to Ajase-Ipo in Kwara state.”

In his verdict, Justice Majebi affirmed that the confessions of the accused persons were weighty and admissible in determining the case against them.

He said, “The confessions of the respective accused persons are graphic, direct and the accused persons stated that after killing the deceased Haruna, they went with his cows to Ajase-Ipo where they were arrested and the cows were recovered in the bush where they kept them.”

On the death of the deceased, Justice Majebi held that the prosecution satisfactorily established that the death of the deceased was caused by the convicts as there was “a nexus between the acts of the accused persons and the death of the deceased.”

Thereafter, the court sentenced them to 28 years each on the first three count charges and sentenced them to death by hanging on the fourth charge of culpable homicide.

“By the said pieces of evidence, I hold the prosecution has satisfactorily established the death of the deceased and that same was caused by the accused persons. I hold that the prosecution has proved all the ingredients of each of the heads of charge against the accused persons thereby raising presumption of guilt against them in respect of all the heads of charge. It will amount to flying in the face of the evidence before the court to believe the story of the accused persons that they have no knowledge of the commission of the offences and the exhibits tendered except their handsets. To believe same is to believe the holiness of a Bishop hanging a talisman on his neck” said Justice Majebi while pronouncing the court’s verdict

A barber claims he has been forced to completely change his appearance - after people repeatedly made him feel like a terrorist. John Essien, 37, who is black British, said he noticed people whispering about him and refusing to sit next to him on public transport.
On one occasion while on the tube, he said people even fled the carriage he was in when his hairdressing clippers started vibrating in his bag.

To try and stop the cruel behaviour, he has shaved off his beard and stopped carrying a rucksack - and now says people have a completely new opinion of him.

John said: "One time I was sat on the train and I had clippers in my bag and they went off.

"I lifted the bag to check them and people started running from the carriage. One lady looked at me and she just froze. "I took the clippers out of my bag and waved them to show people what it was. "Their reaction was a clear an indication of what they all thought."
John, who has four daughters, admits he could understand some alarm but wishes people were not so judgmental.

The qualified hairdresser who lives in Amersham, Bucks., said it started to get to him when people were ignoring him.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who has not made any public appearance in two weeks, and has been described as ‘greatly emaciated’, is set to be diagnosed as foreign experts arrive at Aso Rock on Thursday.

According to an exclusive and investigative report by SaharaReporters, three medical doctors on Thursday, arrived in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, to attend to the ailing President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.

The doctors, all British and Caucasian, are two males and one female, according to a highly placed source at the Presidency.

Buhari, who has not made any public appearance in two weeks, is described as greatly emaciated, according to two sources knowledgeable about his condition.

Despite statements by the government a few days that the president had “resumed work,” Buhari remains holed up in his official residence.

Apprehension within the Presidential Villa about the president’s condition was heightened yesterday as the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, was seen moving a lot of documents out of the villa.

Sources said it was unclear why Kyari made the move to take away documents to an unknown location.

A Presidency source said that the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) has set up a “safe house” in Abuja where Buhari is being treated by a relay of mostly foreign doctors.

Even though President Buhari and his aides have refused to divulge the nature of his ailment, it was learned several months ago that the Nigerian leader is ravaged by Crohn’s Disease, an intestinal disorder.

He is also known to have prostate issues as well as age-related disorders, including early-stage dementia. Buhari’s official age is listed as 74, but he is widely believed to be much older.

A source disclosed that Buhari was slated to leave Nigeria on May 10 for another medical trip to Britain. However, the arrival today of a new set of medical doctors to attend to him might be a further attempt by a cabal of some of his closest associates to frustrate his departure from Nigeria.

Members of the cabal controlling events around the President include the Director General of the Directorate of State Security (DSS), Lawal Daura, Buhari’s powerful nephew, Mamman Daura, his Personal Secretary, Tunde “Idiagbon” Sabiu, a businessman, Isa Funtua, Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, and Babagana Kingibe, a former Secretary to the Government who was the running mate to Moshood Kashimawo Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

Some members of the Buhari administration accuse the cabal of opposing Buhari’s foreign medical trip for fear that his absence would cost them political influence.

It was learned that no “advance team” of aides has yet left Nigeria to prepare for Buhari’s arrival in London, another sign that members of the president’s inner circle, who pull the strings in his administration, continue to oppose such a trip.

In an apparent attempt to reduce pressure on themselves, the cabal last week allowed Buhari’s wife, Aisha, to have access to funds to cater for her husband.

They also persuaded her to draft a series of tweets asserting that the president’s health was not as bad as perceived. However, our sources described Aisha Buhari and other family members as frustrated and sober over Buhari’s slow pace of recuperation.

In addition, the cabal around the president arranged for Buhari to make phone calls to a number of persons, including businessman Aliko Dangote and some political aides and friends. However, sources close to some of the recipients of the phone calls said the calls did not last more than 30 seconds each.

On Monday, Attorney General Abubakar Malami and the Group Managing Director of Nigeria’s National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Baru Maikanti, claimed they held extensive meetings with Buhari to discuss a range of issues. However, no videos or photographs were produced of the ostensible meetings.

24 hours after Malami claimed he had met the president, Buhari failed to attend the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, the fourth consecutive time he was absent at the gathering where a number of policy initiatives are discussed. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who presided at the meeting, apologized for Buhari’s absence, telling ministers that the president could not make it to the meeting because his doctors had advised him to “rest.”

There is growing concern in Nigeria that the secretiveness around Buhari’s condition, as dictated by the powerful cabal around the president, was reminiscent of the political manipulations orchestrated by a cabal around former President Umaru Yar’Adua who died on May 5, 2010.

Whilst Yar’Adua lay comatose in a Saudi hospital, then First Lady Turai Yar’Adua led a coalition of associates who insisted that the gravely ill ruler was ably running Nigeria’s affairs remotely from his hospital bed.

Many Nigerians now fear that the cabal around Buhari could plunge Nigeria into crisis by making questionable decisions in the name of a president who may not even be consulted on the decisions.

One analyst stated that Buhari’s elusiveness and “rule from a remote location” was also eerily similar to the case of former Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State.

Suntai, who sustained critical physical and mental injuries when an aircraft he was piloting crashed, spent a long period in German and US hospitals.

Despite Suntai’s extensive brain damage, a cabal led by General Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) kept him in office for a long time, claiming that he was fit enough to run Taraba State from abroad and later from secret locations even though he’d become incapacitated by the air crash.

A Nigerian national, was on Saturday April 29, arrested by Udaipur police from Surajpol station, carrying fake visa on his passport.

The accused identified as Lopez Anoji was nabbed by the police on Saturday afternoon while he was roaming in the city, later he was produced in a local court and was remanded under judicial custody remand.

During the examination of the baggage of the arrested Nigerian, police has recovered a passport with fake visa which was later seized and he was booked under several sections of IPC.

Herambh Joshi Station House Officer of Surajpol police station told DU that during his initial interrogation the accused revealed that he arrived India in January 2015 on the visa of Medical Attendant, his visa expired in March 2015, despite of that he continued staying at Tamil Nadu from last 2 years, during his stay he had travelled to different places in the country in buses, trains using carrying that fake visa but never got caught.

He arrived at Udaipur on Saturday morning from Delhi and was roaming at Udiapol area when he was caught the police, Joshi added further.

After questioning him about the nexus of fake visa and after collecting relevant information about it police has produced him in a local court that remanded him under judicial custody.
