In the wake of criticism and hostility directed at her husband, Nollywood actor Femi Adebayo, Aduke Adebayo has taken to social media to address the controversy sparked by his observance of International Beer Day.

Femi Adebayo, who serves as an ambassador to Trophy Lager beer, had commemorated International Beer Day by sharing a photo of himself holding a bottle of Trophy beer on his social media accounts. The accompanying caption extended well wishes in celebration of the day.

However, the post attracted strong reactions from some Nigerian Muslims who found the content offensive due to their religious beliefs that deem alcohol consumption as forbidden. Critics argued that promoting alcohol contradicts the teachings of the Quran and the Hadiths of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Amidst the influx of negative comments, Aduke Adebayo, Femi's wife, decided to address the issue directly. She posted a response in the comment section, urging individuals to exercise understanding and tolerance towards diverse choices and beliefs. Aduke emphasized that Femi Adebayo is an actor with a diverse audience and that his work is not exclusively tailored to any specific group, Muslim or otherwise.

Her response aimed to defuse the tension and encourage a more civilized discourse. She wrote: "@basque_in_glory go on a Muslim page if you don’t like this content. He’s a circular ACTOR he’s not restricted to Muslims or non-drinkers. Be civilized!"

Aduke Adebayo's intervention highlights the delicate balance between artistic expression and religious sensitivities. The incident underscores the broader conversations taking place within society about cultural diversity, respect, and the role of public figures in navigating these sensitive matters.

 On Friday 11 August 2023, tragedy struck at the Zaria Central Mosque located in Kaduna state, when some sections of the historic mosque collapsed. The tragic incident which claimed the lives of four worshippers and caused serious injury to at least seven others, was confirmed by Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli. The traditional ruler stated that the victims had been observing the 4:00pm Asr prayer when the prayerhouse caved in. The Emir while stating that the palace had been in process of deploying an engineering team to take care of crack that had been noticed on the wall of the now crumbled mosque, directed that the funeral prayer of all the corpses will be observed today at 8.30pm at the emir’s palace.

Reacting to the unfortunate incident, Governor of Kano, Senator Uba Sani offered his heartfelt condolences to the Emir and the entire Muslim community over the irreparable loss. The governor who assured that the Kaduna state government will assist those affected by the collapse, also promised that immediate investigation will comence in order ascertain the cause of the tragic collapse.

Deposed Manchester United FC captain and English national team defender, Harry Maguire is reported to be moving away from the Manchester club after being declared surplus by United manager. 

The former Leicester city player, failed to replicate his fine form at Leicester which earned him the Manchester United interest.

 Superstar musician, David Adeleke more known as Davido has reacted to the death of Mrs Jane Dolapo Balogun, mother of superstar musician, Ayodeji Balogun (Wizkid).

Wizkid's mum died in the early hours of Friday at the age of 64.

Davido who some months back met the deceased physically commiserated with Wizkid over the loss.

Davido took to his Twitter page on Saturday to share a picture he took with Wizkid's mum with the caption;

 The Kaduna State Government has announced a downward review of fees for state owned tertiary institutions.

The Uba Sani led state government made this known in a press release.

In the statement, the Kaduna State University will have a 30 percent reduction, with the current fee of N150,000 slashed to N105,000.

In the same vein, the Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic had a 50 percent reduction, with the current Fee of N100,000 reduced to N50,000.

That of COE, Gidan Waya was reduced from N75,000 to N37,500 a 50 percent reduction.

The Shehu Idris College of Health Sci & Tech, Makarfi HND Courses fees was slashed from N100,000 to 70,000, a 30 percent reduction.

 The Kaduna State College of Nursing had a 30 percent fees slash from N100,000 to N70,000.

It would be recalled that many tertiary institutions in Nigeria had an upward hike of their fees in reaction to the cost of maintenance associated with the removal of fuel subsidy.

 The Osun State Police Command has said it will arrest the owners of two Alsatian dogs that attacked a nursing mother identified simply as Mummy Basira, and killed her baby girl, around the Halleluyah Area of Ido-Osun, Osun State on Wednesday, August 30.

 

It was gathered that the incident happened when Mummy Basira was walking along the street with her baby strapped on her back when the dogs jumped out from their owner's building and attacked her. 

The nursing mother and her five months old baby were attacked by the dogs even as she tried unsuccesfully to rescue her baby.

According to residents of the area, the dogs after killing the baby, attacked the mother, inflicting bodily injuries on her. 

The spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, while confirming the incident, said efforts are being made to arrest the owners of the dogs, adding that the police command will ensure that justice will be done in this case.

 

Deposed Gabon President, Ali Bongo has regained freedom from the house arrest imposed upon him by the military junta in the country.

He was released eight days after he was deposed as president, with the new military leaders saying Bongo is free to leave the country for medical treatment.

It would be recalled that Alli Bongo was 8 days ago toppled by the military on the morning the electoral umpire announced that he had been re-elected to a third term in office.

The Military junta on Monday swore in Brice Nguema, an army general as interim president.

Nguema is incidentally Bongo’s cousin and had served as a bodyguard to Bongo’s late father and also headed the country’s republican guard, an elite military unit.

 A statement signed by Nguema announcing the release of Bongo from house arrest said.

“Given his state of health, the former President of the Republic Ali Bongo Ondimba is free to move about,” Ulrich Manfoumbi, the military spokesperson, said in the statement read on national television on Wednesday evening.

“He may, if he wishes, travel abroad for medical checkups.”

Ali Bongo became Gabon's president when Omar Bongo, his father, died after ruling from 1967 to 2009.

Yoruba nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, famously known as Sunday Igboho, has returned to Nigeria with a clear mission: to rid the southwest region of what he terms "killer herdsmen." Speaking to a gathering in Igboho town, Oyo state, Igboho emphasized the urgent need for the people of the southwest to free themselves from the terror inflicted by these herdsmen.

Asserting the importance of collective action, Igboho declared, "We need to come together... We should take charge of the security of the southwest. We don’t need to wait for anybody or the government." He pointed out the dire situation facing the region, stating, "They have taken away our land... They killed our monarchs in Ekiti state."
