A suspected armed robber, Isikilu Moses was in the early hours of Friday, April 8, arrested by men of Ogun state police command while carrying out a robbery operation at Joju area of Sango ota.


The suspect was arrested following a distress call received by policemen at Sango divisional headquarters, that armed robbers have invaded Adebeshi street, off Joju road, Sango ota, and dispossessing members of the community of their belongings at gun point.


Upon the distress call, the DPO Sango division, SP Saleh Dahiru, quickly moblised his patrol team and moved to the scene.


On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums took to their heels, but they were hotly chased and one amongst them by name Isikilu Moses was apprehended.


Recovered from him are; one locally-made pistol and two mobile phones belonging to their victims.



Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation. He equally ordered a massive manhunt for the remaining members of the gang with the view of bringing them to justice.

No less than 101 parcels of cocaine concealed in eight children duvets have been intercepted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos.



Director, Media & Advocacy of the agency, Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday, April 10, said the illicit drug was brought into the country by a 52-year-old Brazil returnee, Akudirinwa Hilary Uchenna.



The suspect, who hails from Oru East Local Government area of Imo state was arrested on Saturday 9th April at the D-Arrival Hall of the Lagos airport upon his return from Sao Paulo, Brazil via Doha aboard Qatar Airline flight, while the 101 parcels of the class A drug with a gross weight of 13.2 kilogram were recovered from his only check-in bag.



During preliminary interview, Uchenna who claimed to be a carpenter confessed that he was to be paid N5million for trafficking the drug after successfully delivering the consignment in Lagos.

In a related development, big pellets of skunk concealed in detergent containers have been intercepted at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, AIIA, Enugu. A 37-year-old South Africa returnee, Ezekwesili Afamefune brought in the consignment weighing 730grams aboard Ethiopian Airline flight from Johannesburg, South Africa via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Ezekwesili is from Awka south local government area of Anambra state.



In Edo state, a 24-year-old drug dealer Christian John was arrested by NDLEA operatives in Egbeta, Ovia North East LGA for selling assorted illicit drugs which include sachets of drugged Milo beverage, cannabis sativa, swinol and tramadol tablets, while in Zamfara state, one Chibuzor Uba, 30, was arrested on Friday 8th April with 1,955 ampules of pentazocine at Kaura Namoda area of Zamfara state



A cross-border drug trafficker, Stanley Chibuzor, 21, was on Friday 8th April arrested by officers of the Marine Unit of NDLEA stationed at Oron beach, Oron, Akwa Ibom state. The suspect who hails from Ihiala, Anambra state was nabbed with 11,190 tablets of Tramadol during the outward clearance of passengers traveling to Cameroon.



In Ondo state, a drug dealer who produces and sells skuchies, Oluwaseun Agboola, 25, was arrested on Thursday 7th April, at his Igoba, Second Gate, Akure residence where 73 bottles of skuchies weighing 77kg stocked in his kitchen were recovered. Skuchies are usually a mixture of Tramadol, Cannabis sativa, Codeine, Black Currant (popularly called Zobo) and water.



In Lagos, an early morning raid in the notorious Akala, Mushin area of the state on Saturday 9th April led to the seizure of 746.25 kilograms of cannabis.



While commending officers and men of the MMIA, AIIA, Edo, Zamfara, Akwa Ibom, Lagos and Ondo state Commands of the Agency for the arrests and seizures, Chairman of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) charged them and their colleagues across the country to remain focussed and abstain from acts capable of compromising or jeopardising the collective goal of ridding Nigeria of drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.

The Special Assistant to President Buhari on Digital and New Media has advised members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stop insulting presidential aspirants of the party.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed a newly installed community leader, Isiaku Madaki, at Kakura in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State in the early hours of Sunday, April 10.



Kakura community is predominantly occupied by the Gbagi tribe and other tribes with few Fulani settlers who have lived in the community for decades.



A resident of the area, Baban David, who spoke to Nigerian Tribune, revealed that the deceased was on Saturday, April 9, installed as the Head of the community.



"We all gathered in his residence earlier in the day (Saturday) to rejoice with him over his appointment. However, we were shocked when in the early hours of today (Sunday) when we began to hear gunshots," David narrated.



"We were afraid we could not come out of our houses. Later we were told that the gunmen had killed him in the presence of his wife and family,"



"We found his dead body laying on the ground. His wife told us the gunmen broke into their residence and shot him. They did not take anything, neither did they abduct anybody,” the source said.

The world's richest man, Elon Musk has decided not to join the board of Twitter, despite being the company's largest shareholder.


According to the company's chief executive Parag Agrawal, Musk's appointment to the board was due to become effective on Saturday, April 9 after revealing last week that he had bought a 9.2% stake in the social media platform, but Musk declined joining the board.


Agrawal tweeted: "Elon shared that same morning that he will no longer be joining the board."


The Tesla boss remains Twitter's largest shareholder and the firm will remain open to his input, he added.


Just over an hour after Agrawal's announcement, Musk cryptically tweeted a single emoji which has since been deleted.

This comes after Musk suggested changes to Twitter over the weekend.


He asked his 81m followers whether Twitter is "dying" and if its headquarters should be turned into a homeless shelter.


He also created a poll asking whether the letter "w" should be removed from the Twitter, with the only options being "yes" and "of course".


He then suggested changes to Twitter Blue premium subscription service, including slashing its price, banning advertising and giving the option to pay in the cryptocurrency dogecoin.


Addressing Musk's decision, Agrawal said: "I believe this is for the best".

The General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has explained why his church has embraced the use of television, radio, social media technology.


Kumuyi, whose church members in decades have been known to detest television, technology and use of gadgets claiming they are means to hell, lamented that ‘wicked people’ are using technology to advance their agenda, hence, the church cannot continue ‘sleeping’ but must ‘wake up’ and use the same technology for Gospel’s sake.


Speaking in a video uploaded on Sunday, April 10 via Facebook by the Ekiti State chapter of the church, Kumuyi said Deeper life church was late in taking advantage of technology.



“Why are you the latecomer, why are you the one to be the last to use all these things that the people are using to make the world worse, we are going to rise up.


“Anything at the disposal of the people that are doing evil, we are going to take it away from them and use it for the propagation of the gospel. Let your NO be changed to YES,” he declared.

“Motorcycles came, car came and when the aeroplane came, they said, ‘God has given us the land; He has not given us the space and so all those people who are using aeroplane are worldly, are going to go to hell’. I am telling you what they said in those days but now, all those people, aeroplane has silenced them and now they can go anywhere.”

A Nigerian man has revealed that he found out his wife is in love with another man after 30 years of marriage and four kids.

Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested a member of three-man kidnap syndicate terrorising some local government areas of the state and recovered four AK-47 rifles.

"The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde, have assured the good people of Adamawa State of sustained efforts by the police in fighting crimes, improving public safety and security across the State, preparatory for the local government election," the PPRO stated.



"The command's operatives attached to Karewa Area Command, on the 8/4/2022 disconnected a criminal network and apprehended one Muhammad Isa,30 years, a resident of Maigero, Song local government, from the syndicate of three and recovered (4) AK-47 rifles, one Corolla LE vehicle with Reg. No. FST 749 DC, the sum of N946,000 cash, 164 round of live ammunitions, chains, padlocks, charms and other items,"



He said the syndicate which specializes in kidnapping activities has been terorising Yola North, Yola south,Girei, Fufore and Song local government areas.



The statement said the CP having commended Area Commander Karewa and his operatives for dislodging and reclaiming the public space, urged all the Divisional police officers(Dpos) and their supervisory Area commanders to intensity effort in dislodging the crime network and denying the criminals opportunity to regroup anywhere in the state.



The police boss equally assured that the suspect and his collaborators will be prosecuted as he calls for sustained collaboration with members of the public.

The Lagos state police command has arrested a young man identified as Ifeanyi Njoku for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Precious Okeke, 24, in an estate at Badore, in the Ajah area of Lagos State.



The live-in lovers stayed on Oke Street and it was alleged that Njoku killed his girlfriend for ritual purposes.



It was also alleged that a native doctor who was assisting the suspect, instructed him to have s*x with Okeke’s corpse.



The suspect carried out the bizarre act for six days but was busted after the stench emanating from his apartment prompted his neighbours to inform the management of the estate.



An eyewitness told Punch;



“The boy killed his girlfriend about six days ago, and he confessed that he wanted to use the girl for money rituals. He said he was told that he should have s*x with his girlfriend’s corpse for seven days, but he was caught on the sixth day. Today (Monday) is supposed to make it the seventh day.

“The smell of the corpse had been disturbing neighbours in the compound and other residents. So, they called the estate chairman to help in confirming what was going on in the apartment and while searching the apartment, they found the girl’s body.

“The boy was arrested and taken to the Lamgbasa Police Station and during interrogation, he confessed that he killed his girlfriend six days ago.

“We learnt that the boy offered N6m to kill the case; we also learnt that he brought the girlfriend from the village and they just moved into the estate.”



The state police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident, adding that the deceased and the suspect were lovers.



Hundeyin said;



“Two suspects, Ifeanyi Njoku and Mbam Atunmufor, 36, have been arrested. They have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, for further investigation. Njoku was the one that rented the apartment.”

Residents have disclosed that over 50 dead bodies have been recovered in villages of Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State.



Bandits were said to have attacked Kukawa, Gyanbahu, Dungur and Keram villages on Sunday April 10, killing many and also burning over 100 houses.



Spokesperson of the State Police Command, ASP Ubah Gabriel, said;



“The Command is aware of the attack; policemen have been drafted to the area.

“I am yet to get detailed information about the number of those killed and houses burnt. I will update the press as soon as I get it.”



Adam Musa, a resident of Kukawa, one of the affected villages, told Daily Trust that 24 corpses were recovered in Kukawa, 15 in Gyanbahu, 8 in Dungur and 4 in Keram villages.



Musa also said those who sustained injuries were referred to different hospitals, including Dangi General Hospital in Kanam LGA of the State for treatment.



He added that as soon as all the bodies are recovered, they would be given mass burial.

John Amanam, a Nigerian inventor and sculptor, has revealed how his brother losing several fingers in an accident led him to become a hyperrealistic prosthetics artist.



Amanam, who uses his art to help physically challenged people by making prosthetic limbs for them, is featured on episode 3 of First Class Material Season 2.



What makes him stand out is that he makes prosthetics for black people, having noticed that most prosthetic limbs available were fashioned for Caucasians.
Amanam said sculpting, for him, is hereditary as he grew up in a family of artists.



He said he spent hours watching his father create portraits and he also heard his grandfather was an artist.



However, his parents didn't want him to study art so he studied Philosophy initially but was unhappy. He then returned to school to study Fine and Industrial Arts in the University and specialised in sculpting.



John created sculptures that won several awards, but he reached a turning point when his younger brother had an accident some years back.
He said his brother lost his fingers in the accident and there were talks about sending him abroad for prosthetics.



However, John had an idea to put his skills as a sculptor to good use and he created prosthetic fingers for his brother.
He said that when he noticed there are many others like his brother, needing prosthetics that look like their black skin, he decided to solve that problem by creating a solution.
Since he began making prosthetics, John Amanam has given hope to many physically challenged people, including children.
He says the smile on his satisfied clients' faces is what gives him satisfaction in his job.
