After months of being in detention, the health of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has worsened as he had been diagnosed with gastrointestinal disorder following persistent heartburn, his lawyer and human rights activist, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, said on Monday. According to him, despite the order of Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court in Abuja that the IPOB leader should be given serious medical attention, the Department of State Services has been acting on the contrary.
Kanu has been detained in DSS custody for about 14 months and is facing trial in court over alleged treason charges. Ejiofor raised the alarm in a statement seen by IGBERE TV after his visit to Kanu in the custody of the DSS in Abuja. While stating that court orders must be obeyed, particularly where the order has not been set aside, he said the DSS is a creation of the law and must not be seen to be operating above the laws of the country which created it. He said, “Presently, Onyendu is experiencing gastrointestinal disorder, which requires regular intake of antacid and other availing medical solutions, following persistent heartburn. Unfortunately, the DSS have denied him the least of the prescribed pain killer tablet that could provide momentary relief. “Following this development, our erudite lead counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) has immediately swung into action to ensure immediate end to this maltreatment and impunity. Nevertheless, we still deem it compelling to place the world on notice, that should anything untoward happen to Onyendu, the DSS and the Federal Government of Nigeria should be held responsible. “Highlight of the visit was to review other pending litigations initiated against the Federal Republic of Nigeria for their grave violation of international laws and treaties in their criminal abduction and extraordinary rendition of Onyendu, sanctions and reparation arising from this act of state terrorism. “The visit also afforded us the opportunity to review the overall welfare of Onyendu, as well as the level of the DSS compliance with existing court order in the management of Onyendu’s health condition. “For the records, it is pertinent to reiterate that for the umpteenth time, the lawless DSS have continued to treat with greatest contempt/disdain, the existing court order, which specifically directed that Onyendu should be allowed access to his personal medical doctor for an independent review/investigation of his current health status. This is following the continued depletion of his potassium level. “Regrettably, this court order is gravely flouted with impunity by the DSS, as efforts made by Onyendu’s personal doctor to see him at the DSS facility where Onyendu is currently being detained was rebuffed/rejected by the DSS. Enough is enough for this seemingly impunity!†Kanu also extended his love and appreciation to all his supporters for remaining firm and strongly holding the fort. Ejiofor said he was particularly impressed with their uncommon civility, even in the face of endless provocations, with a call on them to keep it up, while believing strongly that God’s grace “is leading us towards overwhelming victory, which is no longer far fetched.â€

 Abubakar Ibrahim, the village head of Gidan Abba in Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State, has been arrested. The 38-year-old man was arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for drug trafficking. The spokesman of the agency, Femi Babafemi, said on Sunday in Abuja that Ibrahim, who was nabbed with 3kgs of cannabis sativa and 4,000 tablets of exol-5. He was among 11 suspects arrested in interdiction operations in which 991,320 pills of pharmaceutical opioids and 1,251kgs of cannabis and khat, as well as 46.637kgs of methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin, were recovered by NDLEA operatives across seven states. According to him, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos, NDLEA operatives attached to the SAHCO import shed on Wednesday 26th October intercepted 15 cartons containing 802,000 pills of Tramadol imported from Dubai, UAE and Karachi, Pakistan. “While 10 cartons of Tramadol 225mg came in from Dubai on Ethiopian Airlines flight, four cartons of 100mg and a carton of 225mg Tramadol came from Karachi, Pakistan on another Ethiopian Airlines flight,†Babafemi said.

Former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Adigun Agbaje, has narrated his ordeal in the hands of kidnappers who abducted him last Friday. He said he was shot in the head by his abductors, but that God saved his life. Agbaje, who is currently on Sabbatical at the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), was abducted on Friday while on his way to Ibadan from Lagos. His release was announced in a statement released on his behalf by his son, Adewale Agbaje on Monday. According to him, he was happy to be alive as he was released on Sunday evening by the kidnappers after spending two nights in the thick forests of Ogun and Oyo states. He said his mind goes to the five others who are still left with the kidnappers: two young ladies, two young men and a middle aged person. Kidnappers free Prof. Agbaje, abduct 2 other MAPOLY students Agbaje said he is undergoing comprehensive health checks and “so it may take some time to thank all my family, including my in-laws, friends and in-laws to my children, my own friends, colleagues and all Nigerians. “For now I want to thank the following former and current Vice Chancellors of the University of Ibadan: Prof Olufemi Bamiro, Prof Isaac Adewole, Prof Idowu Olayinka and Prof Kayode Adebowale, my colleagues at the University of Ibadan and other Universities at home and abroad, current and former students, including Mr Fisayo Soyombo, for their wonderful support and generosity to my family, top government, military, and other security officials. “I am quite grateful for all your efforts. You all kept hope alive and ensured that the sensitive negotiations came to a successful end when I regained freedom yesterday evening. “As stated earlier, my heart goes to those young female undergraduates, the young men and the middle aged person I left behind with the kidnappers. I may not be reachable now but as soon as I get medical clearance from my doctors, I will be thanking all of you personally.†Agbaje is also the chair of the Oba Sikiru Adetona Institute for Governance at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye.

A lady has taken a drastic decision to get separated from her husband who’s fond of forgetting her birthday. A Twitter user identified as Elsbeth Tashioni shared the story on her page about the couple whose divorce case is in court.

The wife reportedly told her husband that he was always forgetting her birthday, but his response infuriated her the more. She was also upset that he never remembers mother’s day as well. The husband accused the wife of being self!sh and unrealistic and now, they’re both seeking divorce. The tweet read: “Some woman posted 2 months ago about her husband often forgetting her birthday. And he never remembers mother’s day.
