In what will come across as a really shocking development, a rival cult group on Saturday set ablaze a suspected member of the Bobos cult group identified as Christopher Samuel in the Swali area of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.Â
The incident which happened around 6:30am was a sequel to an early morning clash between the deceased’s group and another yet-to-be-identified group.
Though the residents and traders at the popular Swali Market initially thought that it was a robbery incident when mob accosted and set ablaze Samuel, it was later confirmed by the police that the incident was a cult clash.
Recently, members of the bobos cult group have been clashing with Icelanders group in several parts of Bayelsa State in a supremacy battle for territory.
Police spokesman in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the corpse of the burnt cultist was evacuated and deposited at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri for autopsy.
He said, “On 26 March, 2022, at about 0630 hours, policemen responded to a distress call of cult-related clashes on Sand Road, Swali, Yenagoa. On arrival, the patrol team discovered a charred body of a suspected cultist.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the charred body was one Christopher Samuel, 21,, a notorious member of Bobos cult group, who was macheted and set ablaze by a rival cult group. Investigation is ongoing to identify and arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act.â€
Supporters of the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu have stormed Eagle Square, the venue of the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“I want to continue to thank people who are putting up my posters and billboards all over Nigeria. As a party man , I am looking and hoping that the party does the right thing by zoning the Presidency to the South East .
“Even though the party is yet to make that decision, I am confident that the party will bring a president who will work for the unity of the country which is more important,’’ Kalu said.
Rivers State Governor, Nyeson Wike has declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) saying he is the best man to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike who stated this when he visited his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom at the Government House in Makurdi, the Benue State capital on Sunday said he was making his intention to contest for presidency known for the first time in Benue.
“To remove APC from power, I’m the person who can tell them enough is enough. We must take this power and I’m ready to take it for PDP.
God is with us that’s why APC keeps failing everyday.â€

“In 2015, those who ran away made us loose election. Today, they are crying but some of us stood and said PDP will not die.
“Some people want to use Nigeria to buy back their personal business. They talk about private sector. Mention the private business that survive. Is it banks that your father had? Everybody is an employer of labour. Even in my house I have 50 people who feast from me.
They should stop deceiving us. I have performed as a governor and carry my shoulders high anywhere. I have the capacity to face this evil government. Just give me the mandate. I will speak the truth to power and nothing but the truth. I have the capacity to move this country forward,†he said.

His defence minister Sergei Shoigu, is believed to be in a bunker near Ufa in the Urals, 725 miles east of Moscow, according to investigative journalist Christo Grozev.

‘Knowing that there are also protected bunkers in this region, this gives an obvious answer about his place of residence.’
In an interview with Ukraine-24 channel, he told TV anchor Yevgeny Kiselyov: ‘This is our very justified version.
‘I believe in it, and I consider it to be a purely analytical conclusion. There can’t be any other conclusion.
‘If the Kremlin’s war strategy assumes a nuclear strike – and it does – as [Dmitry] Peskov [Putin’s spokesman] himself said on CNN a couple of days ago, then there cannot be any other version.
‘If there is a decision of a potential nuclear strike, they can’t hide the military leadership afterwards.
‘They have to be hidden beforehand.
‘I am absolutely certain he is in a so-called bunker, and by trailing the plane he usually flies, we see very frequent, almost daily flights to Ufa.
‘Knowing this region has those very protected bunkers this leads us to the obvious conclusion. ‘
He believes Putin has another bunker elsewhere.
‘Most likely he is elsewhere, because we are seeing other flights, and they are more classified than the flight that goes to Ufa.
‘These are state planes, and they switch off their transponders somewhere around Surgut.’
This is Russia’s oil capital and is some 1,800 miles northeast of Moscow.
‘It looks like the final phase is quite secretive, and most likely there is a more elite bunker there, with the elite of the government.’
Previously there have been claims Putin had moved his close relatives to a bunker in the Altai Mountains, some 1,100 miles southeast of Surgut and 2,360 miles east of Moscow.
Grozev also suggested that Russia’s Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, is operating from a bunker.
Coincidentally, the defence minister’s daughter Ksenia Shoigu seems to have been in Ufa between March 22 and 25.
‘Today we are in Ufa, on a working visit,’ she posted on her Telegram channel on March 22.
Local newspapers reported that the financier was visiting ‘at the personal invitation of the head of region on March 24 and 25’.

According to court documents obtained by ET on Monday, the actor’s wife, Alvina Anderson filed for dissolution of marriage in Los Angeles County Courts, citing “irreconcilable differences†as a reason for the split.
The pair is still legally married and as there are no minor children shared between the two, no custody agreements need to be made.
Alvina had previously filed for divorce back in September 2015, requesting primary custody of their two children, Kyra, now 26, and Nathan, now 22, as well as spousal support. However, in 2017, she filed to dismiss her divorce petition and reconciled with the Black-ish star.
In the new filing, Alvina lists the date of separation as “TBD†and has asked for spousal support.
“All gifts and inheritance, all assets, earnings, accumulations, and debts acquired by Petitioner prior to the date of marriage and after the date of separation, the exact nature and extent of which are unknown,†the court docs read.

He was received at Kaduna Airport by the State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai. He is expected to visit victims of the attacks at 44 Nigerian Army Reference hospital and Saint Gerald’s Catholic hospital both in the Kaduna state capital.
The vice-president’s visit comes less than 24 hours after an attack by bandits at Dutse village, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has launched a formal review after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage at the 2022 Oscars.
The Academy on Monday said it “condemns†Smith’s actions at Sunday’s awards show.
“The Academy condemns the actions of Mr. Smith at last night’s show. We have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our Bylaws, Standards of Conduct and California law,†the statement read.
The Academy earlier on Monday said in a statement that it “does not condone violence of any form.â€

The Chairman of the Chinmark Group, Marksman Chinedu Ijiomah has reportedly escaped from Nigeria following manhunt launched by his investors to apprehend him.
Sources close to Mr Ijiomah told our correspondent that Chinmark shared some of his belongings before leaving the shore of the country.

A suspected female fraudster who specialises in swapping people's ATM cards at ATM points has been arrested.
The lady identified as Osasi Chinozom Juliet was arrested by Kano State Police Command.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday April 4, said the suspect who was found in possession of 17 ATM cards of different banks, has been on the wanted list of the command for fraud-related cases.
"On 18/03/2022 at about 1730hrs, a team of Operation Puff Adder led by SP Daniel Itse Amah, Divisional Police Officer, Nassarawa Division while on surveillance patrol along Murtala Mohammed Way intercepted one Osasi Chinozom Juliet, 'f', 24 years old, of Enugu Road, Sabon Gari Kano," Kiyawa stated.
"The suspect has been on the wanted list of the command for fraud-related cases. On spot search, she was found in possession of 17 ATM cards from different banks.
Before her arrest, one Yusuf Tijjani, 'm', complained that, on 17/03/2022, the suspect approached him while seeking assistance to operate an ATM, deceitfully collected, and changed his ATM card, and withdrew the sum of fifteen thousand naira (N15,000:00) from his account.
"On investigation, she confessed to the crime. She further confessed that she specialized in swapping ATM cards by claiming to be a staff of the bank where she met customers to assist them to operate the machine,"
"She has ATM cards from almost all the banks in Kano, making it easy for her to swap the ATMs. He claimed to have withdrawn money from many people's accounts after swapping their ATM cards,"
"Discreet investigation revealed that the suspect deceived, swapped the ATM cards of many victims, and withdrew money from their bank accounts. She has been charged to court for prosecution," the statement read.Â

The dragging began after Simi took to her Twitter account to join Wizkid FC ranting about how the Grammys robbed Wizkid of his awards.

A Twitter user identified as Sodiq dragged Simi for not applying the same energy when her colleagues failed to celebrate Davido’s FIFA World Cup achievement. Reports gathered that the late singer has been on life support for the past two months.

A consultancy company, Jihad Analytics, which processes data on global and cyber jihad says Nigeria now has the highest number of attacks by the Islamic State (IS).
According the report, half of the attacks claimed by IS since the beginning of 2022 were in Africa, while the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), an affiliate of IS, is now more active in Nigeria.
Data by Jihad Analytics showed that while Nigeria has recorded a total of 162 IS operations since January 2022, Iraq has recorded 120.
“Since the beginning of the year, the Islamic State has conducted half of its attacks in #Africa,†the company wrote in a tweet on Friday.
“For the first time in the history of the jihadi group, Iraq is no longer the country where #IS claims the highest number of operations: the group #ISWAP is now more active in Nigeria.â€

Goodluck Jonathan, a former Nigerian President on Saturday visited his Security Aide, Inspector Gambo Joseph, who was injured in Wednesday’s road crash at the vicinity of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja.
Jonathan expressed joy that the injured officer, Joseph was responding to treatment and recovering fast.
He also stated that the second officer, Inspector Michael Ebute, who sustained the injury during the accident was discharged on Friday.
“Thank God Gambo is recovering so fast. I am pleased to inform you that the second officer, Michael has been discharged and returned to his family,†he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that two police officers were reported dead during the accident which involved a car conveying them from the airport.Â
