The world’s most expensive footballer, Paul Pogba is on pilgrimage to the holiest city of Islam, Mecca days after helping Manchester United to victory in the Europa League final in Stockholm.

Paul, a French professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Manchester United and the France national team decided to attend Umrah – which is a non-mandatory pilgrimage for people who follow Islam.

On Instagram, the Frenchman shared a photo of himself wearing the white cloth of Muslims performing umrah and standing in front of the Kaaba, a black cube towards which Muslims turn for their five daily prayers and captioned it

“Most beautiful thing I’ve seen in my life.”

The midfielder, dressed in white, is expected to adhere to the religious festival of Ramadan – which will see him fast until June 24.

He also sent a tweet wishing all Muslims a Happy Ramadan.

Do you ever get discouraged in prayer? Have you prayed, prayed for something, but aren’t seeing answers from the Lord that you would like to see?

If so, here are seven Biblical reasons that will encourage you to pray and not lose heart.

1. God has promised to give us anything we ask according to His will.
First John 5:14 contains the Lord’s promise that, if we will ask Him for things that line up with His will, His answer will be “yes!” This passage says:

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”

So how do we learn what God’s will is, so we can ask properly? By studying His Word. The Bible contains thousands of promises that clearly tell us how our Father wants to bless us, provide for us, comfort us, heal us, take care of us, and—most importantly—draw us closer to Jesus.

Our Father is the Giver of good and perfect gifts (James 1:17). He won’t withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly (Psa 84:11). And because He is kind and good, He delights to dump good gifts on us, His children!

So don’t lose heart! Make sure your prayer lines up God’s Word, then ask away—and keep on asking!

2. Your prayers are so important to God that He stores them in Heaven.
Revelation 5:8 tells us, “Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.”

Did you get that? Your prayers are so important to God that He actually keeps them in Heaven. They are like perfume to Him; their fragrance ascends to His nostrils!

What’s the application? Even if you pray and Father God seems like He’s not answering, He hasn’t ignored you! Your prayers have staying power! And at just the right time, the Lord will “pull the trigger” and bring you the answer you need.

3. Persistent prayer is a demonstration of your faith.
Some folks will try to tell you that you should only pray for a thing once; thank God in advance for answering; and then stop praying about that thing. Those people mean well, but don’t follow their advice! Why? Because Jesus Himself said that faith-filled prayer requires persistent asking.

Luke 18:1-8 says:
“Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying: ‘There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’’

Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”

Jesus told this parable of the unjust judge so that people would always pray and not lose heart. The woman He described never stopped asking. She drove the judge crazy with her requests!

After Jesus told this woman’s story, He pointed out that God will do much more for us when we cry out day and night to Him! Then, however, Jesus asks the big question: when He returns, will He find us demonstrating our persistent faith by our persistent asking?

I want Jesus to find that kind of faith in me when He returns. Don’t you? If you do, keep on praying! Go ahead and pester our Father with your requests night and day! That kind of praying is pleasing to Him.

4. When times are at their worst, God’s prescription is to fast and pray.
Joel 2:15-17 says, “Blow the trumpet in Zion, consecrate a fast … Let the priests, who minister to the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar; let them say, ‘Spare Your people, O Lord, and do not give Your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’’”

Times are hard for many people right now. However, God’s prescription for getting help and seeing change is the same as it has always been: fasting and prayer.

When we pray and fast, God moves Heaven and routs demons. So if the enemy is coming against you like a flood, win the battle by praying, fasting, and praying some more! You will see change when you do.

5. Because the Bible says to pray without ceasing.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to “pray without ceasing….” This verse by itself is so encouraging when we are tempted to abandon our prayers! Father knew we would be tempted to stop praying sometimes. However, He wants us to keep on asking—so He gave us an express command to keep on keeping on!

6. We receive nothing if we doubt.
James 1:6-7 tells us that a person who doubts won’t receive anything from the Lord. That’s reason enough to keep praying in faith!

If you’ve been praying for something a long time, don’t let the enemy discourage you! Your prayers are working! And if you keep on asking, you will receive (Matthew 7:7).

7. God is not unjust to forget your work. He will reward you!
Hebrews 6:10-12 tells us:
“For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

God, whose throne is founded on righteousness and justice, considers it unjust to forget you and all the work you have done. He would never be unjust or unrighteous; He cannot deny Himself. Therefore, He would never forget your labor, your prayers, or your ministry. He remembers you, and He will reward you! He is moving on your behalf right now. Through faith and patience, you will inherit the promises!

Has the enemy been tempting you to give up and stop praying? Don’t listen! Keep on praying, and don’t lose heart! God treasures your prayers. They matter to Him, and He will move on your behalf at just the right time if you do not give up!

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) yesterday threw its weight behind the Lagos State government’s decision to sack its Chaplain, Ven. Femi Taiwo.

The government has the power to hire and fire any chaplain appointed to manage its chapel, Lagos chapter CAN Chairman Apostle Alexander Bamgbola, told reporters.
He addressed a news conference to clarify the position of the body on the controversy which trailed the sack of the clergyman.

Bamgbola decried the twisting of the events that led to the decision to separate Ven. Taiwo as chaplain of Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, the state government’s Christian worship centre.

There were reports that the clergyman was relieved of his duties because of an alleged disrespect for Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s wife, Bolanle.

But CAN said its investigation did not suggest what was being peddled.

Bamgbola cleared the governor’s wife of any wrongdoing, saying reports linking her to the matter were blown out of proportion.

He said the church was built by the Lagos State government for itself and for the public.

The CAN chairman said it was the state government that created the anointing service and instituted a Governing Council to run the affairs of the church and report to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The CAN chairman said:

 ”Mrs Ambode is a true woman of God who fears God and lives a godly life. God raised her at this time.” He said the dust generated by what occurred was unfair to her.
”The social media should desist from circulating unfounded reports. The Bible said judge not that you should not be judged. This matter should be closed and be left for the church to handle. We are more than able to handle all matters,” he said

Two final year students of the Makerere University in Uganda have landed in serious trouble after wearing very revealing clothes to a university function which the school authority considered “indecent”.

Their obviously tattered dresses have been making the rounds on social media since the weekend when the students garbed themselves for their Finalist Education Dinner. .

The two have been summoned to appear before the disciplinary committee. In a letter dated Tuesday May 30, 2017, the Makerere University authorities had expressed dismay over the students’ conduct. .

The letter, as published by Ugandan Mirror online reads:

“If it is true that that person was you, your action, as a student of this university, would have contravened University Regulation 8 (2)(a) which states that, .

‘Every student shall respect him/herself and behave in a manner that will not bring his/her name and that of the university into disrepute;’ and Regulation 8 (2) (d) which states that, ‘Every student shall dress in a neat and decent manner.”

The letter was addressed to one of the students who is said to have appeared in the pictures, Ms Rebecca Naddamba. According to reports, the students have until Friday, June 2, 2017 to submit their replies to the university.

Six months after a detective attached to the Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, Lagos State Police Command, disappeared into thin air, his corpse has been found in a shallow grave at the Ibeju Lekki area of the metropolis.

The deceased, Inspector Musa Sunday, was abducted, tortured and later buried alive while on illegal duty at Ibeju Lekki. Sunday and four of his men were alleged to have been drafted to guard a land, which was under dispute by their Admin Officer (AO), at Ibeju Lekki.

The policemen were drafted to the disputed land without the knowledge of the Officer in Charge of SARS (OC) and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni. The skeleton of the inspector, 45, a father of four children, with their ages ranging from four, six, eight and 12, was exhumed from a shallow grave after six months search.

At least five persons, including a traditional ruler, otherwise known as Baale have been arrested in connection with the murder of the inspector. A police source said: “The police are hunting for one Mr Balogun, who led the hoodlums that attacked, abducted and buried Sunday alive.

In fact, information at police disposal says that it was the fleeing Balogun that tied his hands before burying him. Balogun’s second in command, Arokin is in police custody. He’s helping police with investigation.”

The suspects confessed to have buried him alive after starving him for more than five days. They also admitted to have buried him alive on the orders of a traditional ruler, who has interest in the land under dispute.

Sunday was abducted sometimes in November, while guarding the disputed land. The abductors made away with his rifle. The inspector, who was the leader of the team, was on duty with four other policemen.

The abductors, alleged to be armed to the teeth, stormed the land on that fateful day in November and over powered Sunday, his policemen and civilian guards, patrolling. The civilian guards were there on the instruction of one of the men struggling for possession of the land, identified simply as Prince, living in Ikeja.

The Prince and his opponent had allegedly been fighting over possession of the land for months. This has led to several people, from both factions, being killed and maimed. A police source said that both men had been warring, using paid thugs, until Prince decided to take SARS men.

But rather than go through the proper channel, which was to contact Owoseni or OC SARS, Prince went to his friend, the AO. When the AO ordered Sunday with some policemen to the land, the Inspector couldn’t argue with his superior.

Sunday was kidnapped when he confronted a large number of thugs from the other faction. The thugs attacked, injured and attempted to carry away some of Prince’s thugs. An inside source said: “Sunday’s men abandoned him and ran away because the thugs from the other faction large expanse of land.

The Prince came to SARS to get policemen to keep his opponent from encroaching on the land.” After his abduction, his phone stopped going through. His colleagues became frantic.

Sunday’s wife and family members besieged the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, demanding to know what had become of him. Speaking with a journalist a few months after the abduction of Sunday, his wife, Halimat, 27, said:

“They were deployed there to maintain peace. We learnt that hoodlums were attacking a man, so my husband and his men moved to rescue the man. He told the other two policemen to go and put the man in the car so he could be safe.

The hoodlums pounced on my husband and took him away. Sensing danger as the hoodlums kept increasing in number, his men ran away. Since then, we have not heard from him.” On the fateful day of the incident, Halimat said that she spoke with Sunday around 4pm; he promised to come home the following day.

In the evening, his kids demanded to speak with him, so Halimat called his line repeatedly, but it didn’t go through. In the morning, some of his colleagues called Halimat and told her what happened. Since then, Halimat and Sunday’s family members had been visiting the police headquarters in Lagos, praying and hoping.

She added, “Three months after, police kept telling us that they were on the matter. We learnt they have arrested the Prince that hired the hoodlums, but nothing has happened since then. His children keep asking after him. His aged mother, who has high blood pressure, has not stopped asking for his whereabouts. We don’t know what else to tell her.”

Halimat, a housewife, noted that since Sunday’s disappearance, she and her kids have been struggling to survive. She’s no longer able to pay the kids’ school fees. She said: “Nobody from the police cared to check on us, and now we don’t have money because we don’t have access to his ATM pin.

I want my husband to come back. The children are suffering, and I can’t carry the load alone.” A police source said: “Sunday was posted there with his team; they were five in number. Two of the policemen later left, saying they were tired of the constant threat.

Even soldiers that were supposed to guard the land with them left, complaining that Prince had never bothered to ask about their welfare. “Sunday has been on that land for almost three weeks when bulldozer entered the land.

Prince’s faction was overpowered. Everyone scampered for safety, but one of Prince’s thugs were held. Sunday ran back to save him. It was in that split second that his policemen and the man he saved drove off in a vehicle, leaving him.

Sunday was grabbed by the hoodlums, beaten and injured.” It was gathered that the fleeing policemen ran to Mobile Police Force (Mopol) 49, Epe. They explained that an inspector had been abducted, that they needed help to rescue him, but the commander allegedly didn’t respond to their pleas.

The policemen moved to Akodo Police Station, where a woman happened to be the Divisional Police Officer (DPO). The DPO said she couldn’t send anyone to the area because it was a volatile axis.

They went to SARS, Ikeja to report and for five days, no action was taken to rescue Sunday. Later, policemen started looking for Sunday, to the extent of going to Bonny Camp, Victoria Island. The soldiers said Sunday wasn’t with them. When the OC SARS went to meet Owoseni, to intimate him of the missing inspector, Owoseni demanded to know the person that deployed Sunday and his men on the illegal duty.

Determined to find Sunday, sources said that the OC SARS approached the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT), headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Abba Kyari. It was alleged that through the efforts of the IRT operatives, Sunday’s phone was tracked and some of his alleged killers arrested.

The suspects took police to where Sunday’s rifle was buried. A police source said: “Police investigation also led to the arrest of the traditional ruler. The traditional ruler denied knowing anything about the disappearance of Sunday.

He was invited to the police command; but rather than honour police invitation, he ran to Police Force Headquarters, Abuja. He was told at Abuja to go back to Lagos and respondfirst to police invitation.”

The source continued: “Balogun, who led the operation in which Sunday was kidnapped is on the run. But his second in command, Arokin, has been arrested. Arokin confessed that Sunday was buried alive.

He took police to the shallow grave at Ibeju Lekki. Police brought pathologists from Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), to exhume Sunday’s corpse. “One of the pathologists, when he saw Sunday’s skeleton, said that it looked as if he was buried with his hands tied behind.

It was at that point that Arokin confessed that Sunday was buried alive. He disclosed that after beating and disarming Sunday, he and his colleagues waited for five days for policemen to come for him, but nobody did.

In those five days, they didn’t give him food. He said that when police didn’t come searching for Sunday; the traditional ruler instructed them to go and bury the inspector alive. The traditional ruler said that nothing would happen.

Sunday was buried alive.”

Nigerian born Irish actress, Ayoola Sundari Smart, has been forced to withdraw from her biggest Irish stage role after suffering a concussion in a freak fidget spinner accident, reports say.

Doctors have ordered the West Cork-raised, London-based, 22-year-old actress to rest for up to two weeks after diagnosing her head injury which she suffered at the Wilton shopping centre in Cork.

She had narrated through her Instagram post that she was queuing in a shop when a child standing nearby lost control of a fidget spinner he was playing with, striking Ayoola behind one of her ears.

Most recently, she had been cast as Serena the Mermaid in Cork-playwright Lynda Radley’s award-winning Futureproof, which was to receive its Irish premiere in the Everyman Theatre as part of the Cork Midsummer Festival from June 16-24.

LIFE has a funny way of happening to you. Today I very unwilling had to pull out of the play #Futureproof due to a freak accident involving a #fidgetspinner and a small child. I’m so sad that I can’t be a part of this magical journey with a brilliant cast and team, but I’m a firm believer in ‘everything happens for a reason’ and though I’m struggling to understand what that reason is at the minute, I’m sure it will present itself in due time. I had the most wonderful time while it lasted and now I just have to focus on getting better. Thank you to the Everyman team, my director Tom, my fantastic cast- I know you’ll all smash this show and to @variousfrivolities for providing me with this very apt t-shirt… #whenlifegivesyoulemons

Rapper, Eva Alordiah has finally confirmed the end of her 15 months engagement to her fiance, Caesar Ume-Ezeoke, after several weeks of denying they broke up.

Eva and Caesar got engaged in January 2016, a month after they started dating. In a lengthy post on Instagram, the rapper and singer has finally confirmed the split.

She wrote;

Single Again and not quite sure I was ready for the other side. Feels so familiar, this Single life, yet so new.
I have been single for only 1 Day and I already feel

My friends always used to Tease me and tell me I love ‘Love’.
