We’re used to a regular refresh of Sony’s Xperia hardware and it’s no different as IFA this year either. Although the company hasn’t announced a successor to its top of the line Xperia XZ Premium, the new Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact have plenty to offer those looking for premium processing hardware in a smaller package… not forgetting that these two phones are the first to be announced running Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Sony’s Compact model in particular has always strived to provide higher-end hardware than your typical small form factor smartphone, so there really doesn’t appear to be too much difference between the Xperia XZ1 and the XZ1 Compact. With the obvious exception of the smaller display and size of the Compact model, and one or two small tweaks to the hardware features, including a slightly smaller amount of storage and a different front camera setup. Intriguingly, both models seem to have exactly the same battery, despite the size differences.
