I Weep For Nigeria, The Youths Have Become Their Elders. Japa If You Can by BigBallsBiden(m) : 2:26 pm

Unfortunately, less than 20 million Nigerians have the resources/privilege to japa, this represents less than 10% of the Nigerian populace.

Growing up, when i and other kids made purchases, we remember how our elders would remind us of the times when they got more value for the same amount of money we just spent during thier own days. E.g. you purchase milk for N100, a Nigerian elder will remind you of when that milk was N1 and how he/she would have gotten 100 of that milk during his/her time instead of just the one milk you just got for N100. They never gave us an explanation as to how we came about the negative change because they themselves were still mystified, they didn't know.

Fast forward to years later, the youths of yesterday are now the elders of today.
During Jonathan's era, Spaghetti was packaged and sold N100 or less. Shortly after Buhari took office, that same Spaghetti became N110, then N120 and it was at N130 when I left Nigeria in 2017. During Buhari's second term selection (not election), that same Spaghetti that was N100 under Jonathan was more already more than N300 (tripled in price in just 4 years). At present, that same Spaghetti of N100 under Jonathan is now N600. So I've become like my elders, with N600 presently, a Nigerian teenager would buy one unit of Spaghetti. With that same N600, I would have bought 6 units under Jonathan..so it's a cycle. Those teenagers would also grow up and repeat the same thing, they'll become the new elders reminding the younger ones of the 'good times' (the good times that isn't actually good).
