If you recollect, some elements in the Nigerien military initially resisted the coup but eventually succumbed to the will of the majority of Nigeriens and supported the coup plotters. Why were those loyal to Bazoum not deployed to protect him? Why didn't he hire mercenaries to protect him?
Assad of Syria requested help from Russia and was defended by Russia. Russia resisted the attempt of the West to oust Assad. Why did France not defend Bazoum by sending French combatants (soldiers from France) to protect Bazoum?
