PLOT TO PLUNGE ANA INTO ANOTHER CRISIS UNCOVERED: ANA RESPONDS WITH RESOLUTE UNITY

The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) is compelled to address the recent discovery of a plot by certain individuals, masquerading as members of ANA, to destabilize the organization and plunge it into another crisis. These individuals, referred to as literary herdsmen, were previously involved in the crisis that occurred in ENUGU in 2019. As the current ANA President's tenure approaches its end, it has come to light that these elements are once again scheming to disrupt ANA's progress as the association prepares for upcoming elections.
The focal point of this devious plot centers around the ANA Land, which has been a topic of significant discussion and encountered numerous challenges over the years. The writers' village project, an embodiment of ANA's vision for transformation, faced obstacles such as financial constraints, legal disputes, interference from land speculators, and government actions.
In 2012, in an effort to overcome these challenges and propel the development of ANA Land, the Association enlisted the services of a developer, KVML. This developer was tasked with both selling a portion of the land and constructing essential infrastructural facilities for ANA's benefit. Substantial progress was made between 2015 and 2019 under the leadership of the previous National EXCO, and the current National EXCO, from 2020 till date, has diligently worked with KVML to further accelerate the development process. This collaboration has resulted in the completion of notable buildings, a testament to the promising future of the writers' village.
ANA wishes to clarify certain misconceptions related to the project. Contrary to baseless claims, KVML has never reported any loss of land since its involvement in 2012. Furthermore, annual reports on developments within the writers' village have been regularly presented during the Association's AGMs and conventions, fostering transparency and accountability.
We emphasize that ANA remains committed to openness and encourages anyone with pertinent information to share it through official channels rather than resorting to sensational posts on social media. Constructive and peaceful discussions are vital to the progress of the Association and the realization of our vision.
ANA acknowledges the remarkable recovery from challenging times in 2019 and is resolute in upholding its reputation. The Mamman Vatsa Writers Village stands as a symbol of unity and progress for Nigerian authors, and ANA is steadfast in its dedication to bringing this vision to fruition.
As the Association prepares for upcoming elections, we urge all genuine members to remain vigilant against any attempts to disrupt the integrity and unity of ANA. Let us work together to preserve the essence of our Association and continue empowering Nigerian authors for generations to come.
