Mike Runcie, lead Pastor of The Evening Church, a popular church located in Uyo Akwa Ibom State, has died. The pastor passed away on 1st July, just one day after officiating a funeral service where he had been captured weeping profusely. Before the funeral service, Pastor Mike Runcie had posted on Facebook that the funeral of the deceased 36 year old, would be the first one he had ever officiated.

Controversy currently surrounds the death of Pastor Mike Runcie as there have been heavy speculations that the pastor committee suicide. These unconfirmed speculations are despite the fact that The Evening Church put up a post on social media confirming the pastor's death after "a brief illness". Many members of the deceased Mike Runcie's congregation and social media followers have urgently asked the church's management to either confirm or quell the rumours surrounding the pastor's death by publicly stating the exact cause of death. Pastor Mike Runcie is survived by his wife, Dr Enobong Runcie and two young children.
