The decomposed bodies of two abducted wives and five children of the traditional ruler of Mutumbiyu Chiefdom in Taraba State, Justice Sani Muhammed(rtd), have been discovered in Daka village, a neighbourhood of Bali Local Government Area, in the early hours of Saturday 4th February, 2022. The murdered victims were initially abducted on 19 January 2023, when gunmen invaded the monarch's residence in Jalingo, whisking away eight members of his family as well as other residents of the community.

Justice Sani Muhammed(rtd) confirmed the murder and discovery of the corpses of his wives and children, adding that they would be buried at Mutumbiyu. Governor of Taraba state, Darius Ishaku, expressed his condolences to the traditional ruler and indigenes of Mutum-Biyu Chiefdom for the gruesome incident. He prayed for Allah to grant the deceased victims eternal rest and the families the strength to endure the irreparable loss.
