Abdulsalami Abubakar Finally Reacts To Emir Sanusi’s Removal by baba55(m) : 6:03 am

Abdulsalami Abubakar, Nigeria’s former head of state, has finally reacted to the sudden removal of Muhammed Sanusi as Emir of Kano by Kano Government.

Mr Abubakar, the chairman of the reconciliation committee set up by the presidency to intervene and proffer solution to the feud between the emir and the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje told Voice of America Hausa Service that he is not sure of President Muhammadu Buhari’s intervention in the ongoing kerfuffle.

Speaking on the reconciliation steps taken by the committee, he said he held meetings with both the emir and the governor but unfortunately did not end well.

“After conclusion of the assignment, we realised that there was amicable resolution to the crisis. Surprisingly, this is what happened at last,” he was quoted.

Mr Abubakar also expressed displeasure over the crisis.

“Well, I can say so in view of the latest development. In my view, all the committee’s efforts are wasted.”

He, however, distanced himself from the alleged nonchalance of President Buhari on the matter.

“I can’t really say whether Buhari has a hand in the matter because I am currently not in Nigeria. But before I left the country, we submitted our report to him, and he expressed willingness to intervene in the matter in order to have amicable resolution, despite being a constitutional matter. I really don’t know if he had intervened.”
