American jurist and television personality, Judge Judy, has announced that she is bringing her blockbuster first-run syndicated series “Judge Judy” to an end after 25 years.

During her Monday appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres, the 77-year-old told DeGeneres that the 2020-21 season of Judge Judy will also be its last.

The Hollywood Reporter also confirmed that Judge Judy will end production after next season, which will be the show’s 25th season on the air.

Speaking about the ending of her show, Judy said: “I’ve had a 25-year-long marriage with CBS [Television Distribution, which distributes the show], and it’s been successful,” she said. “Next year will be our 25th season, silver anniversary, and CBS sort of felt, I think, they wanted to optimally utilize the repeats of my program. ”

She continued: “Because now they have 25 years of reruns. So what they decided to do was to sell a couple of years’ worth of reruns. But I’m not tired, so Judy Justice will be coming out a year later.”

Asked by DeGeneres where viewers will be able to watch the new show, Sheindlin replied: “I can’t tell you yet.”

Explaining where fans of the show will be able to catch the judge in action, Judy said: “Judge Judy, you’ll be able to see next year – a full year, all new shows… the following couple of years, you should be able to catch all the reruns that CBS has sold to the stations that are currently carrying Judge Judy , and Judy Justice will be going elsewhere. Isn’t that fun?”

Judy, who is currently the highest-paid personality on TV, bringing in $47 million (£36.6 million) a year signed a deal with CBS in 2017 in which the company bought the complete library to Judge Judy for a huge sum of $100 million (£77.8 million).

According to The Sun, Judge Judy is still racking up more than nine million viewers a day in the United States and is the most-watched court show of all time
