Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 29-year-old Man O’war official identified as Toyeeb Daodu for allegedly killing his colleague.

Igbere TV learnt that the incident reportedly occured in Ope-Ilu, Ido local government area of Ogun State.

According to Police’s report, the suspect (Daodu) had beaten his Man O’war colleague Ibrahim Aliu after a brief altercation between the duo over #1000.

Daodu was said to have borrowed a sum of #1000 from the deseased (Aliu) but failed to pay back his debt, which later resulted to fisticuffs between them.

It was learnt that Aliu had approached the Daodu at a motor park where he demanded for the refund of his money, but angered by the suspect, and gave him a punch on his chest.

According to an eyewitness, Aliu fell on the spot and gave up the ghost while rushing him to the nearby hospital.

The eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said the police at the Agbado Division were alerted of the incident, while the corpse has been deposited at the morgue in Ifo.

“They were both at a bus stop that evening. He asked the victim to leave after paying the debt. In the ensuing argument, he pummelled the young man who became unconscious immediately and died afterwards. They were both Man O’War volunteers.”

Reacting to the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident.

He said, “We learnt they were fighting over N1,000. The suspect has been arrested and the Commissioner of Police has directed that the case should be transferred to the homicide section.”
