PDP Must Change Name To Win Future Elections – Doyin Okupe by starboy247(: 3:32 pm

Doyin Okupe, former spokesperson of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to change its name if it intends to win future general elections in the country.

Mr Okupe stated this on Friday in an article posted on social media in appraisal of the PDP.

“Now as we go into the new year and look forward to 2023 we must prepare for a new beginning. I recommend that the party and its leadership consider the following: The party must urgently rebrand and take up a new name and a new constitution if it intends to win general elections in the future,” he said.

“The leadership of the party should cease from been allocated to the state governors. Government and party must be separate to avoid authoritarianism and corruption.

“Any party official that collects bribe from an aspirant should automatically lose his office once found guilty by a disciplinary committee.”

Among his 12-point agenda for the party, Okupe also recommended the resolution of dispute between former President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State.

The former presidential spokesman also advised that the party “must compulsorily agree on some critical national issues which must be clearly stated in the new constitution.”

He listed some of these issues as federalism, restructuring, role of religion in governance including Sharia, state police, revenue sharing, issues relating to herdsmen, RUGA, immigration, indigene and settlers issues, power rotation, federal character, upholding the rule of law, economic policy, foreign relations policies including relationship with Israel and Middle East, IOC among others.
