Sequel to the emergence of Aramide as  the winner of the Best Alternative Song at the 12th edition of the annual awards show, Disgruntled Comedian Victor Ebiye took to his social media account to post a “joke” that Aramide ‘probably’ must have had a sexual relationship with the organisers for the award as she didn’t derserve it.

Aramide was announced winner of the award for her song “Fun Mi Lowo Mi” featuring Sound Sultan and Koker.

An obviously disgruntled Ebiye shared a photo on his Snapchat of the singer accepting the award with the caption:

“She can’t even believe it, lol she prolly f***ed for the award. #Headies”

His comment triggered a backlash on social media, as he was called out by men and women alike, who defended Aramide, at a time when men have been accused of verbally trolling and physically and sexually assaulting women.

Realising the extent of his blunder, Ebiye took to social media to apologise for his post, pleading for forgiveness.

He wrote: “I made a distasteful joke about @aramidemusic last night at the headies. I am embarrassed by my comments and I am profusely sorry. Aramide is a hardworking artist who deserves every recognition she gets by merit. I sincerely apologize and pledge that such will not repeat itself again.
I pledge to control my words in the future as things said and written cannot be taken back. ❤”

Despite his apology, some apparently cheesed off Nigerians still took to Twitter to vent their anger at him.
