Gareth Bale clearly took a liking to Chinese soil when he netted a hat-trick for Wales on Thursday night, and has admitted he could be tempted by a move to the Chinese Super League.
Bale’s hat-trick in Wales’ 6-0 thrashing of China – in the China Cup – completed a successful evening for new boss Ryan Giggs, with Sam Vokes bagging a brace and Harry Wilson also netting on only his second appearance since his debut as a 16-year-old four years ago.
And with this comfortable victory, Bale appeared to have taken a liking to the Chinese culture.
‘It’s a great country with great people,’ the 28-year-old said after the win. ‘In terms of the future I’m not too sure, I haven’t really looked that far to be honest.’Whenever I come to China we always have such an amazing reception from the Chinese fans. They’ve been very welcoming to all of us, not just me. ‘They look after us really well. But I’m sure that if I ever did come I’ll be looked after very well.’
Bale’s future at Real Madrid has long been up in the air and with the resurgence of team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo, coupled with his persistent injury woes, the Welshman has been linked with moves away from the Spanish capital.
While the CSL is a potential location for Bale, a return to the Premier League – and more specifically Tottenham and Manchester United – looks the more likely destination should he depart the Bernabeu this summer.
The latter has become more unlikely as Mourinho is feuding with Luke Shaw, who shares an agent with Bale.
In the meantime, though, Bale will be looking to aid Real’s push for a third-successive Champions League crown.
