Kendrick Lamar Bans Cell Phones at His Concerts by LoverBoy(m) : 2:51 pm

It looks like Snapchatting Kendrick Lamar concerts will no longer be a thing. According to The Guardian, the Grammy-winning rapper has joined a slew of other artists and banned cell phones at his shows.

The U.K. publication says K. Dot's banning of cell phones comes from a "fresh concern to limit the market is an attempt to protect his valuable 'brand' and ensure the appetite for tickets remains keen." Although he did let professional photographers snap shots of different stops of his North American DAMN. Tour, he's decided against letting them into the European trek, which started in Dublin, Ireland last week.

Other artists who've reportedly banned the use of cell phones at their shows include Alicia Keys, Guns N’ Roses, Jarvis Cocker and Jack White. Safe to say, those acts are all folks who value the mystique and excitement surrounding live shows. The thing is, in the social media era, where everything is live-streamed, Instagrammed and tweeted, those two elements might have been lost just a bit. K. Dot's doing his part to bring them back.

In other news, K. Dot and the folks at Top Dawg Entertainment released Black Panther: The Album at the tail-end of last week, and thus far, the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. Speaking on the project through his Twitter account, Kung Fu Kenny gave thanks to everyone who helped make the project happen.

"Black Panther," he began. "Respect to all the artist/producers that allowed me to execute a sound for the soundtrack. The concept of producing and composing a project other than my own has always been ideal I appreciate the experience love ones Continue to be great."

Check out K. Dot's tweet below. Read XXL's list of lyrics that speak to the Black American experience when you're done with that.
