JESSE LINGARD’S EXTRA-TIME SCREAMER GIFTS UNITED FA CUP TITLE by dimexy247(m) : 7:16 pm On May 22

Jesse Lingard’s extra-time strike ensured Manchester United came from behind to beat Crystal Palace and win the FA Cup at Wembley.

With what was Manager Louis van Gaal’s final game in charge of Manchester United, the Dutch veteran ensured he bowed out on a high – ending United’s not-so-good season with silverware.

United’s season looked set to end without any trophy and when substitute Jason Puncheon made a darting run in United’s box and smashed the ball past David de Gea from an impossible angle to put Palace up with just 12 minutes on the clock left. The crowd went into a frenzy, Alan Pardew did some sleek dancing on the touchline, Palace were on the brink of history but it didn’t happen.

Juan Mata was Palace’s nemesis. Crystal Palace lived in their glory for a little over minutes. Captain Wayne Rooney, who has been enjoying his midfield role burst forward, while the Palace defence left him unattended to. Fellaini’s hair was easy to spot in the box and his captain obliged him and sent the cross, he chested down perfectly for Mata who fired almost immediately. Goalkeeper Ward did what he could but it wasn’t enough as the ball crept in. 1-1 it was.

It all went sour again for United when Chris Smalling was shown a second yellow card for hauling back Yannick Bolasie in extra time, and it seemed United might crumble, but Jesse Lingard had other ideas. Antonio Valencia had sent a ground cross into the area and Damien Delaney stretched to make a half clearance but the ball fell for Lingard who lashed a stunning volley to take the trophy to Old Trafford.

MANCHESTER UNITED SET TO APPOINT JOSÉ MOURINHO NEXT WEEK by dimexy247(m) : 7:17 pm On May 22

Reports claim that Manchester United is set to appoint former Chelsea boss, José Mourinho as United manager in the next few days after agreeing a deal to take over from Louis van Gaal.

United’s current boss, Van Gaal won the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday. It was the first silverware for the Manchester club after the Sir Alex Ferguson era and the Dutchman seemed to believe that he would still be United’s manager come next season, and also refused to comment on his future following the win over Palace, saying: “I show you the cup. I don’t discuss [my future] with the media.” However, new reports now say Mourinho is certain to replace Van Gaal at the club.

Mourinho turned down an offer from Paris Saint-Germain in the hope that United would come calling – and negotiations took place in the last few days after United had missed out on Champions League football. Mourinho has already agreed a salary and has discussed possible transfer targets with the club and is likely to be presented as United’s new manager once his agent, Jorge Mendes, has finalised the finer details of the contract.

Man jumps into a lion enclosure in a bid to commit suicide but survives(Graphic) by dimexy247(m) : 7:30 pm On May 22

A 20 year old man, named by local media as Franco Luis Ferrada Roman, who was suicidal, stripped naked and entered a lion enclosure in a Chilean. The man broke into their cage early Saturday morning and offered himself to the lions horrifying other visitors who were at the zoo and witnessed the whole attack.

When he entered the enclosure, the two lions immediately pounced on him and started to ,play' with him, severely mauling him. The zookeepers who tried to intervene shot the lions to save the man's life.

Santiago authorities confirmed that the two lions who mauled the man were shot and killed as they severely mauled the man because they didn't have any fast acting tranquilizers.

Boko Haram to release the remaining Chibok girls to avoid this by dimexy247(m) : 7:38 pm On May 22

The Boko Haram sect, who abducted over 200 school girls from Chibok two years ago, reportedly want to broker a deal with the Nigerian government. They are offering to release the remaining kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls in return for avoiding execution. Two of the girls were rescued recently. It is believed that only a third of the abducted girls are still alive.

According to a report in The Times, senior members of the terrorist group said:
"We want to surrender because things are getting worse," said Amir Muhammad Abdullahi, who is reportedly Boko Haram's second in command. He said no side was winning the battle and that only a third of the girls remained as "the rest have been martyred".

6 THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER DO BEFORE HAVING S*X WITH YOUR PARTNER.. VERY IMPORTANT! by dimexy247(m) : 10:09 pm On May 22

Things you should NEVER do before having s*x – Before having s*x with your partner any time, there are certain dos and don’ts you have to take into consideration. Here are six pre-s*x no-nos you may want to take under consideration before your next roll in the hay.

1. Taking an Antihistamine e.g Procold

Antihistamines work by drying out your mucus membranes to relieve nasal congestion and in doing so, can also dry out other parts of your body, especially the v**ina. In a nutshell, no matter how turned on you might be, your vag will not get the memo.

2. Eating Spicy Foods

Foods can affect vaginal odor and taste. Super-spicy foods can cause gas, bloating, and farts that just won’t quit. What’s worse, the residue left on your hands and in your mouth post-nosh is notorious for setting private parts on fire.

3. Drinking Too Much

Sure, light drinking can put some people in the mood, but overdoing it can dull your senses—and may send your big O packing. Since alcohol is a known depressant, your ability to experience an climax may actually be diminished if you’re too buzzed.

4. Using an Electric Toothbrush

It sounds weird, but using an electric toothbrush and alcohol-based mouthwashes might make you more prone to STDs. Similar to sensitive vaginal mucosa, spinning bristles can cause tiny tears in the gums, and harsh, alcohol-based mouthwashes can dry out and irritate your mucosa, making it prone to sores and contracting STDs.

5. Shaving

If you’re a woman who prefers trimming her hedges, it’s best to shave the night before nookie to give your skin a chance to heal. Shaving will exfoliate the top layer of the skin, making the area more sensitive. It can irritate hair follicles, causing a pink bumpy rash, and can cause tiny cuts, which would leave your skin open to potential infections, such as herpes and HPV. Use a multi-blade razor to get a closer shave in one swipe, and apply a thin layer of one percent hydrocortisone cream to reduce inflammation. Reapply the next morning if there are any signs of irritation hanging around.

6. Using Food as Foreplay

The chocolate sauce pre-game show is hot at the moment, but the post-s*x yeast infection? Not so much. Using anything with sugar in it as a lubricant (whether on purpose or not) can cause a yeast infection, as yeast thrives on sugar.

5 Reasons Why Pregnant Women Should Have s*x Regularly by dimexy247(m) : 10:24 pm On May 22

Every woman looks forward to conceiving her own child, they say the gift of motherhood is the greatest joy any woman can ever feel. While some women view pregnancy as a burden they must carry, others view the changes that occur in their bodies with awe.
Pregnancy is not so easy, while carrying a child for nine months can be stressful, there are several perks attached that can help relieve the stress. You must have heard that s*x during pregnancy should be avoided, bla, bla, bla, truth is s*x during pregnancy might just be the best s*x you will ever have.
Orgasms during pregnancy is extra amazing and extra fun. Having s*x during pregnancy is good for your body, your heart rate, your relationship and believe it or not, it will also facilitate a safe delivery.
Although there are certain conditions that might prevent some pregnant women from having sex, s*x during pregnancy is almost divine.

Here are Five Reasons Why Pregnant Women Should Have s*x Regularly.

Your Orgasms Are Out of This World

Some women experience multiple orgasm for the first time during pregnancy. Your sensations are heightened because the genital and pelvic regions are engorged with blood thus intensifying all kinds of stimulation. Orgasms also increases the contractions in the woman’s pelvic floor, which helps to strengthen the muscles she needs for labour and after delivery.

Lowers Blood Pressure

Sex during pregnancy helps to lower blood pressure. Oxytocin, also known as the love hormone released during s*x is a good stress reliever. All the built up tension will simply go away and this keeps your blood pressure at a healthy level. s*x makes the woman feel calmer and lowers the risk of heart attack.

Enables Sound Sleep

During pregnancy, women often experience all kinds of discomfort, from back pain to frequent urination, sleeping hours just gets shorter as the fetus

grows in the womb. s*x during pregnancy is a good way of getting sound sleep because the woman feels more relaxed after having an orgasm.

Increases Intimacy

The bond between husband and wife remains unbroken when they both have s*x during pregnancy. Some live with the myth that women are very abrasive during this period, so they should be avoided.
Truth is during pregnancy, the release of oxytocin which is also referred to as the bonding hormone boosts emotional attachment and makes pregnant women more sympathetic, supportive and trusting. Both partners get closer to each other and this definitely helps their love life.

Reduces Pain

Certain hormones like prolactin, oestrogen and progesterone, which increase blood flow to the pelvic area, including the vagina, increasing lubrication and sensitivity. The increased blood flow to the v*gina can help reduce painful intercourse. s*x during pregnancy will also help ripen the floor of the cervix and this can reduce the pain of delivery.

LVG Says ‘It’s Over’ at Old Trafford Amid Mourinho Speculations by dimexy247(m) : 6:09 pm On May 23

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal left the squad’s hotel yesterday insisting “it’s over” amid reports he was about to be replaced by Jose Mourinho.
Dutch boss van Gaal was greeted by waiting Red Devils fans following United’s FA Cup final win over Crystal Palace at Wembley on Saturday.
When asked by a Sky Sports reporter if he had time to talk, Van Gaal replied: “It’s over.”
Whether that meant he had been sacked by United was not immediately clear.
But the 64-year-old former Netherlands manager’s brief remark will fuel speculation he is on his way out of Old Trafford.
No sooner had United lifted the FA Cup then reports in the British media emerged that former Chelsea boss Mourinho would be replacing one-time mentor van Gaal.
For all that they ended this season with a trophy, United didn’t make a sustained challenge for the Premier League title and failed to qualify for the Champions League.
United fans were also unhappy with the brand of football their team played under Van Gaal, which many felt ran counter to the club’s traditional attacking style.
Mourinho saw his second spell as Chelsea manager end with the sack in December after last season’s champions made a miserable start to the defence of their Premier League title.
The Portuguese manager may have won trophies in several European leagues but has never stayed at one club longer than three years and three months he racked up in his first spell with Chelsea.
But former United defender Phil Neville said even if Mourinho was only at Old Trafford for a brief time, he would bring trophies to the club.
“I can’t see him staying too long at Man United, maybe two or three years, that seems to be his shelf life at a football club,” Neville told BBC Radio yesterday.
“When Jose finishes at a club it tends to be a pattern where he falls out with a few players, he gets disgruntled and the team dips.
“It happened at Chelsea, it certainly happened at Real Madrid where there were rumours he fell out with a few players.
“It’s a pattern with Jose, he comes into a club, he gets success but he doesn’t stay for too long.”
United has now failed to finish higher than fourth in the Premier League in any of the three seasons since legendary manager Alex Ferguson retired.
For a club of United’s stature that represents an embarrassing record but Neville believes Mourinho, who won three Premier League titles with Chelsea, can transform their fortunes.
“He’s a proven winner, a proven champion,” Neville said.
“United fans want a team that will challenge for the league title, not a team that finishes seventh or fifth, and Jose is probably the man for the job.
“Knowing Jose as I do, I think he will have done his homework and he’s meticulous in his planning.
“He knows who he wants and at the start he will demand United sign those players for United to become championship challengers again.”

Welcome to the reality: Nigeria is broke by dimexy247(m) : 6:17 pm On May 23

Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed last week said that Nigeria is broke. He spoke to State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja. He said the Federal Government took a painful decision by increasing the pump price of petrol from N86.50 to N145 per litre. According to him, the current problem is not about subsidy removal but a result of dwindling income of the government. He said: “The current problem is not really about subsidy removal. It is that Nigeria is broke. Pure and simple!

“It is like somebody who has been earning N100,000 a month and he is faced with a situation where his employer says henceforth, you will be earning N10,000 a month. He would need to make some very painful decisions and some very painful adjustments. That is the situation with Nigeria today.

“A few months ago, we were earning as much as $100 for every barrel of crude. In the months of February and March, we were short of…so, we no longer have the resources, the foreign exchange to bring in refined fuel products. And our economy is shrinking. We appreciate the fact that the decision is going to affect everybody.

“We appreciate what we are going through, but Nigerians should also know that the government has the responsibility at times to take very difficult decisions. So, it is not always about popularity.”

Lai Mohammed was only stating the obvious. This fundamental truth was not told to Nigerians from the very beginning. This is what Lai Mohammed and his principals should have told Nigerians before the hike in the pump price of petrol. Nigeria is indeed on financial life support machine if you like. This government should have told the nation the whole truth. Nigeria is broke, please understand and bear with the government. The average Nigerian would have listened.

Nigerians can see for themselves how the slide in the oil price has brutally exposed Nigeria’s Achilles heels. Foreign exchange inflows at the CBN in January amounted to just $1.30 billion, which represented a year-on-year decline of 46.7 per cent. Skeptics of this administration could point out that the oil price has recovered above the $38 budget bench mark to about $48/b but Nigerians must understand that sabotage and disruption in the Niger-Delta have picked up to a level not seen since the period preceding the Yar’Adua amnesty.

Oil industry sources have said that Nigeria’s output is at the moment as low as 1.40 mbpd. Whichever data is used, it has become obvious why access to foreign exchange has become problematic and why the CBN is selling no more than $200m per week at the official rate.

While foreign exchange supply has crashed with the oil price since mid-2014, demand has not eased. The gap between supply and demand is therefore substantial. The CBN is not the principal source of foreign exchange. Autonomous sources provided $4.08 billion in January, compared with CBN’s $1.30bn, and would have included remittances of about $1.80bn as well as oil exports generated by the private sector.

Comments last week by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, and the announcement by the NNPC of a new authorised price band for sales of petrol/gasoline, have fuelled speculation that a devaluation of the naira exchange rate may be coming. Most Nigerians do not realise the nation has been living in The Matrix. This subsidy removal is perhaps the red pill that may wake Nigerians up to reality.

Nigeria is poor. It is broke. Nigeria has been raped, pillaged, looted and left for dead. All these years, the nation’s economy has been sustained on the junk food of corruption and Nigeria had kwashiorkor but because it looked chubby, Nigerians thought the nation was healthy. Nigerians were busy throwing money around. Those who had political godfathers and had access were renting two bedrooms in Abuja for N700 million. Houses were springing up around the country from the proceeds of corruption.

It was unbelievable that make-up artistes were charging N500, 000 and pre-wedding photo shoots were going for N700, 000. Aso ebi for wedding, naming or burial ceremonies were sold for N90, 000. These Nigerians were busy buying Rolex watches and Ferraris. Range Rover Sport was everywhere you turn to in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. To these sudden wealthy people, the items were like Keke Napep. Little did they know that it is all fake life. The perception of a wealthy nation was all a mirage.

Nigerians have all been living off the spoils of corruption. That’s why the country seems so hard and difficult now that nobody has access to free money anymore. There is at the moment no money circulating because there is none to steal and rent flats and shops for girlfriends. There is no more money for civil servants to steal to pay bogus tithes of N500, 000 to unsuspecting churches and take an equally bogus title from traditional rulers. There is no money for Nigerian lawmakers to spray in dollars at their daughters’ weddings; for Lagos big boys to spend N2 million every Friday night at nightclubs.

It’s time for Nigerians to face reality. The party is over. Buhari must deregulate completely the oil sector whether labour likes it or not. CBN must not back down on its foreign exchange policy. It must not reverse itself on the 41 items denied access to foreign exchange. It is time for Nigerians to learn the hard way. It is time to see the real Nigeria and Nigerians. Now that money budgeted will go into our roads and bridges and hospitals, there will be economic progress. Such budgetary allocations will now benefit those who do not have a rich corrupt uncle with connections in oil and gas.

Those who cannot travel to Dubai to celebrate birthdays will do so here in Nigeria. Those who do not know what Coldstone ice cream tastes like will benefit from government programmes. Now is the time for those who have stolen Nigeria’s money to invest in real estate and reap the benefit of corruption. Hopefully, the real estate markets will crash. The thieves with 15 houses in Abuja will be forced to sell them fast for cash. It would, however, be better if EFCC seized and auctioned them. All those in the service industry will have to reevaluate their pricing. You cannot charge 500,000 to paint faces anymore; free money is gone for ever. Nigerians welcome to the real world.

VAN GAAL SACKED BY MANCHESTER UNITED by dimexy247(m) : 1:57 am On May 24

The Dutchman's polarising reign at Old Trafford has been cut short amid intense speculation that Jose Mourinho has been lined up as his replacement
Manchester United have sacked manager Louis van Gaal, Old Trafford sources have informed Goal.

The Dutchman led United to their first FA Cup triumph since 2004 on Saturday, with a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, though celebrations were quickly overshadowed by speculation regarding Jose Mourinho's imminent arrival.

Van Gaal's two-year reign at Old Trafford proved divisive, with several fans and former players bemused by the Dutchman's playing style having seen United score just 49 league goals this season.
And after Van Gaal arrived at the club's Carrington training ground for work on Monday he was relieved of his duties. The 64-year-old remained cordial throughout the rest of the morning but his backroom staff were seen clearing their desks after being sacked along with the man who brought them to the club in 2014.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward was also seen on site alongside one of the club's lawyer.

Mourinho has been out of work since he was sacked by Chelsea in December, but is poised to return at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal's departure comes two years after his appointment, with the manager guiding the club to a fourth-placed finish in his first season.

However, United missed out on qualification for the Champions League - which they exited at the group stages this term - in his second campaign despite spending around £250 million on new players during Van Gaal's reign.

United have now failed to finish in the top-three since Sir Alex Ferguson's last season in charge, when they won the league in 2012-13.

Ryan Giggs was also on site on Monday morning, but he left around an hour later. The Welshman's future is unknown with Mourinho's appointment as manager on the horizon.

Man Beats Teenager to Death for Attempting to Rape by dimexy247(m) : 6:30 pm On May 24

A 32-year-old man, Saheed Oladimeji, has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly beating a 14-year-old boy, Matthew Ohiosumuan to death over the accusation that he attempted to defile his six-year-old daughter, Solia.

The incident occurred on May 5, 2016 at Adagbada area, Arola Community in Ido Local Government Area of the state at about 5p.m.

According to the information gathered by Crime Reports, Oladimeji allegedly kicked and rained blows on the deceased until he became unconscious and finally died. But the suspect claimed that he only used a rope to whip the boy, in addition to a slap on his buttocks.

Giving an account of what transpired prior to Matthew’s death, Oladimeji said: “Matthew was the son of our next-door neighbour. On May 5, he called my daughter, Solia, to run an errand for him, but shortly after, I heard my daughter saying ‘Brother Matthew, leave me alone’.

“I called out to her to come back home and as she came, her looks were hard and she was holding her underpants. I asked her what went wrong and she said it was Matthew who removed her pants and slept on her. Immediately Matthew saw me questioning my daughter ,he ran away.

“When Matthew’s brother, Seun, came from school, I reported the former to him. Later, I asked one Abdulahi to call Matthew for me. When he came, I asked him why he did what he did to my daughter, but he denied it in the presence of his brother, saying that he only asked her to buy rice for him. I called my daughter and she repeated what she told me.

“I took a rope and used it to whip Matthew and in the process he ran away. As he ran, he fell face down and fainted but I thought he was pretending. People poured water on him but he was just moving slightly. I took him to a nearby private hospital but as the doctor wanted to set drips for him, he discovered that he had stopped breathing.”

Oladimeji swore that he never hit the deceased’s head, but only slapped him on the buttocks as he ran away. “I never intended to injure the boy, as I always encouraged him to face his studies or learn a vocation, so that he would be a responsible boy. He was close to me and I used to advise him a lot. I also used to give him clothes that had become tight on me.

“I am so pained by his death because it was unexpected. I pray that God should save me from this problem. If God should get me out of this, I would never beat any child, even my own child,” the murder suspect said.

Crime Reports also visited late Matthew’s father’s house and his brother, Seun, explained what transpired between the suspect and the deceased thus: “Oladimeji told me that my brother attempted to sleep with his daughter and showed me a rope that he intended to use to tie him down so that he could discipline him. When Matthew was called, he denied the allegation but the suspect did not believe him.

He first whipped him with a rope and I told him that the reprimand was enough but he did not listen to me. He started raining blows on his head, and two sides. This made Matthew to fall down but this did not deter Oladimeji. He started kicking the deceased so hard that passersby had to caution him not to kill him. But he replied that if Matthew died, he would go and bury at Powerline Cemetery at Apete.
“Unfortunately, Matthew could not get up.

But Oladimeji said he was pretending. When we noticed that he was gasping, we tried all we could to resuscitate him but all to no avail. That was when the suspect rushed him to a nearby hospital but my brother died before reaching the hospital.”

The father of the deceased, Mr Femi Ohiomasuan denied writing any letter of withdrawal from the case. He confirmed that Matthew was the only child his mother had for him.

When contacted, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed the story, saying that the suspect had been charged to court and remanded in prison.

N5,000: FG to Use Biometric Data Collation by dimexy247(m) : 6:34 pm On May 24

The Federal Government on Monday reiterated its resolve to alleviate poverty across the country with N5,000 using biometrics data collation.
Mrs Maryam Uwais, Special Advisor, Social Investment, Office of the Vice President, said this while speaking at the international conference on “Child Poverty and Social Protection in Western, Central Africa,” in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the conference focuses on proffering solutions to tackle child poverty, protection to children across the West and Central African region.
According to her, government allocated money to assist the poor and is ensuring that communities determine the poor within them for proper interventions.
“For the first time government has budgeted money for the poor in this country, and first and foremost we have been given the mandate to develop a credible register of poor people.
“So we are actually going into the communities organising group focused discussions, asking the communities what poverty means to them and we ask them who fits into the parameters they have defined.
“When we get all those names, we go back, do the enumeration with Bank Verification Number (BVN) and National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) because we don’t want to create ghost beneficiaries.
“We want to get the actual identities, we want them to have an identity number and a BVN number because we want the banks to pay directly to the beneficiaries this N5,000,” Uwais said.
According to her, the government will do unconditional transfers initially and add livelihood support.
“In doing unconditional transfers, we target the productive people in a particular family, because when we go back to do the BVN, NIMC and the identity enumeration, we ask questions from each household.

The president gave this assurance at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos during the commissioning of projects and security vehicles and equipment provided by Lagos State Government in support of the Nigeria Police.

The president, who is on a one-day official visit to the state, but is represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the well-attended event, however, asked for the support and understanding of citizens

Buhari commissioned the newly built Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Rescue Unit at Cappa, Oshodi and Ago Palace Way in Okota,.

He was received by Lagos State governor Akinwunmi Ambode, along with the minister for power, works, and housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola; Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, and members of the state executive council.

The president said his government is fully aware of the present economic hardship being experienced by Nigerians and is ready to alleviate the impact within the shortest possible future.

Buhari pointed at the federal government's N500 billion social investment plan as part of measure to tackle the myriad economic problems as well as provide palliatives to the citizenry.

He said the investment plan would address the challenges of unemployment, industries, manufacturing and agriculture, among others.

According to him, there are plans to create 500,000 employment opportunities for graduates, with another 370,000 for non-graduates, in addition to the provision of micro loan facilities for market women.

"We are aware of the difficulties Nigerians are going through but the future is certain, abundance and prosperity are assured. A lot of readjustment will be done.

"Our country has gone through many pains but we are determined to make the correction. We are on the path of recovery.

"To ameliorate the pains, N500 billion social investment is being earmarked in 2016 budget. This is to provide 500,000 direct employment for graduates and 370,000 for non-graduates through vocational training, while FG will give micro-credit facilities to market women using various associations across the country."

Buhari lamented the neglect of Lagos for the past 16 years, assuring that the federal government was more than ready to give total support to the state in every way possible.

The president stressed that Lagos deserves more benefit from the federal government, being the economic hub of Nigeria, even as he commended Governor Ambode's landmark achievements in the last one year.

He assured that the federal government will soon embark on infrastructural assistance in the state with specific focus on rail and road construction which is included in the 30 percent infrastructural development plans, citing the Lagos-Calabar and Kano rail routes and completion of the ongoing construction of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as part of the projects.

On the absence of the president, Osinbajo gave the assurance that Buhari would personally visit Lagos immediately after the Ramadan,

He urged security personnel to continue their good work by making Lagos safer for everyone.

Ambode assured that the state government would continue to reward gallant officers in the course of their duties.

While disclosing that N1.5 billion was expended on the provision of the commissioned security vehicles and equipment, he urged residents to continue to see security as everybody's business.

"I want to use this opportunity to again commend the officers and men of all security agencies in our state for their dedication and commitment which has facilitated a more secure Lagos. FG Plans robust dialogue with Niger Delta militants - Kachikwu

The minister of state for petroleum resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, yesterday said that the federal government would soon embark on robust dialogue with the Niger Delta militants to sensitise them on the need to stop militancy in the oil-rich region.

He asserted that the nefarious activities of militants are currently sabotaging efforts being made by the government to revamp the nation's economy, noting that rolling out military tanks against the militants would not solve the problem.

Kachikwu, who was flanked by the minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made the disclosure during an interactive session with a coalition of civil society organisations in Lagos.

He said: "The military tanks cannot stop or solve problem of militancy in the Niger Delta region. I will have to go back to my brothers; they are our brothers. We will go and dialogue with them," Kachikwu said.

Meanwhile, the minister explained why the payment of subsidy was no-longer possible in Nigeria, disclosing that the country lost over N5 trillion to subsidy in five years.

According to him, subsidy had to be removed from petrol because the policy was no longer sustainable as the government is broke.

Speaking on the harsh economic situation in the country, the minister pointed out that ministers of the present government do not have accommodation, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari cannot approve N20 million for ministers' rent due to low government income.

On why the fuel queues disappeared immediately the government hiked the pump price of petrol at N145 per litre, Kachikwu said: "Queues disappeared because everybody who had incentive to hoard were no longer hoarding and those who were in the business other than hoarding petroleum business for hoarding sake left the business because there was no need to hoard.

"Again we were having pretentious number of consumption for subsidy payment."

The minister contended that if Nigerians wanted fuel at the cheapest rate, then they must not complain about roads, security and other infrastructure.

He also remarked that fuel stations built in border towns take fuel and sell to neighbouring West African countries, pointing out that Nigeria was, in essence, subsidising fuel for West African countries.

Missing N30trn: Okonjo-Iweala Denies Receiving Court Papers by dimexy247(m) : 6:41 pm On May 24

Former finance minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has stated that she was never served with any court processes in relation to the N30 trillion purportedly missing.

Okonjo-Iweala, through her media adviser, Paul C Nwabuikwu said that since she has not read the judgement and would therefore defer any comments on the matter. However, she noted that from the media reports, the case was instituted in February 2015 but was not served until July 2015 after Dr Okonjo-Iweala had already ceased to be the Minister of Finance.

“By the date the said papers were purportedly served Dr Okonjo-Iweala was no longer a public officer and could therefore not be the subject of a request for production of any documents or information under the Freedom of Information Act.

“The court processes must have been served on others because the attention of Dr Okonjo-Iweala was never drawn to the matter in which she appears to have been sued personally. She therefore did not engage any lawyer to act for her in the matter.

“Our attention has been drawn to media reports regarding a court judgement alleged to have been entered against the Federal Government of Nigeria and in respect of an action by the Socio-Economic Rights Agenda (SERAP) pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act.

“The decision of SERAP to anchor its case on a baseless and unsubstantiated allegation by former CBN governor Professor Charles Soludo that N30 trillion – about seven times the total annual budget during the Jonathan administration – is missing confirms SERAP’s dubious motives and its role as a tool for politically motivated actors.

“It is curious that the first time Dr Okonjo-Iweala is being made aware of a matter filed against her in court is in news reports reporting the delivery of judgment. She has instructed her lawyers to take steps to set aside the judgment as it affects her.”

The High Court, according to the media reports, ordered the Federal government and Dr Okonjo Iweala to provide information relating to N30 trillion allegedly unaccounted for.
