TV reporter Knocked Down By a Car During Live Report Bravely Stands and Continues Reporting.
A TV reporter was knocked down by a car while she was live on air.
Tori Yorgey, a TV reporter for WSAZ in Huntington, West Virginia, was reporting the news from Dunbar on Wednesday night, Jan. 19, when the incident occurred.
She was just about to discuss reports of water main breaks and slick roads amid the freezing conditions when she and her camera were struck and knocked to the ground by a car.
Video of the incident shows Yorgey with her back to the approaching vehicle when she was knocked over.
“Oh my God …. I just got hit by a car, but I’m OK!†a visibly shaken Yorgey told anchor Tim Irr who was in the studio.
Irr responds: “Well, that’s a first for you on TV, Tori.â€
“That’s live TV for you. It’s all good,†Yorgey added as she struggled to get herself together.
“I actually got hit by a car in college too. Just like that! I am so glad I’m okay,†she continues.
As she picks up the camera she reassures Irr: “We’re good, Tim.â€
She added: “My whole life just flashed before my eyes, but this is live TV and everything is OK.â€
She stood up and resumed her broadcast despite appearing shaken by the incident.
“I thought I was in a safe spot, but clearly we might need to move the camera over a bit, so let me do the while I’m thinking of that,†Yorgey said as she resumed her report.
The incident happened on Yorgey’s last week on the job.
Se said: “You know, it’s my last week on the job and this would happen.â€

A yet-to-be identified gunmen on Sunday shot dead and then beheaded a man said to be a member of the Ebubeagu security operative in Ebonyi State, Igbere TV has learnt.
According to report, the ugly incident happened in Ekpelu, in Ikwo Local Government Area of the state, while the slain man has been identified as Sunday Nwafor, 30.
The gunmen, over five of them, were said to have stormed the man’s house at night while he was asleep and shot him dead. They dragged the body out of the room, cut off his head and took it away.
The police spokesperson in Ebonyi, Loveth Odah, confirmed the incident.
She said two suspects have been arrested over the killing.
“According to the wife who spoke to policemen, she said that before she heard a gunshot, she over-heard one of the hoodlums telling her husband that he left them in the bush and came back home to enjoy himself by collecting N30,000 from the government,†the police spokesperson said.
“This is barbaric,†she said.
Ms Odah said the commissioner of police in the state has ordered an investigation into the incident and has vowed to bring to justice those responsible for it.
Gunmen, in a similar manner, earlier this month killed a member of the Ebubeagu in Ebonyi and set ablaze his remains.
The body of a baby boy was found wrapped in a plastic sheet inside a chest freezer.
Neighbours living on the quiet street in Corowa, around 40 miles from Albury on the New South Wales-Victoria border in Australia, heard anguished screams of a baby at around 10pm on Wednesday, Jan. 19.

Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels has finally addressed speculations going round about her fight with Jaruma.
In her recent statement, Regina Daniels stated that Jaruma’s arrest has nothing to do with the failed business deal between herself and Jaruma.

Without a doubt, hosting the famous Big Brother Africa reality TV show from inception till the time it went off air in 2015, might seem like a dream come true.
But for IK Osakioduwa, it was a stepping stone to what he has become in life.
The popular on-air personality became a household name in many homes across Africa and beyond after hosting the once biggest reality TV show in the continent from 2009. He took over from Kabelo Ngakane, a South African TV host and media personality.
The show went on to record a significant success, putting Osakioduwa in the continental spotlight. Back home, he became not only the favourite of the fans of the show, but also, the most sought after live television host and event compere in Nigeria.
Unfortunately, the last season of the show was aired in 2015, with Ace Khumalo and Ntombi Tshabalala emerging winners. And since then, nothing has been heard of the show, but Osakioduwa has continued to make waves as a quintessential reality TV host in this part of the world.
However, sharing his years of experience hosting the show, while in a recent chat with our reporter, the Edo state-born TV presenter said the experience added to his success story in the entertainment industry.
His words: “Having spent several years hosting the reality TV shows, it’s been quite a humbling experience learning production and what it takes to make a show successful whether it’s Big Brother Africa, The Voice or Nigerian Idol. I have hosted these three reality TV shows. I also have my own Comedy Night show called, ‘Highlight with IK’. You learn so much just by working with people on different platforms about what it takes to make a show successful. Then working with the producers, you also learn what it takes to make the business of showbiz successful. Equally, working with talented people, you also learn what it takes to make you as a talented person successful.
“If I have to say anything about the shows that I have hosted over the years, they added to my journey, not just as a presenter or as an individual. But my journey in the Television or showbiz industry, they added to all of that to make me successful.
“Big Brother Africa is the biggest reality TV show on the continent till date. Nobody has produced a show that’s bigger than Big Brother Africa. Bringing contestants from across the continent to come and live under one roof, and handling them is quite a big experience.
‘It takes so much logistics in terms of production to make it successful. If you work on that show, you will learn more than you will learn in any show you can think of hosting in future,†he enthused.
Osakioduwa then recalled one of his worst moments while hosting Big Brother Africa.
“On May 4, 2012, while I was hosting Big Brother Africa, my mother passed on during the week. That Sunday I still had to present the show. That was a sad experience for me. Suffering the loss of a loved one in my own personal life and having to come on a live show on the same day to make people happy was a tough job,†he recalled.
Asked if hosting the show really affected his family life, Osakioduwa admitted that it did, but not in a negative way.
“Yes, it affected my family, not in a bad way but in a good way. It holds one to a higher esteem as well as helps you to live a better life. Though my family does not enjoy the privacy that other people enjoy because I am in the spotlight, “ he added.
Osakioduwa, however, dismissed the notion that he has a desire to replace Ebuka Obi-Uchendu as host of Big Brother Naija reality TV show.
Responding, he said “Why will I want to mess with something that’s already perfect? Ebuka is a friend of mine. I think he’s doing a fantastic job with the show. I wouldn’t want to host the show because Ebuka is really doing a fantastic job.â€
The popular TV host revealed that he was contacted when the producers were perfecting plans to return BBNaija on the screen, but he was unavailable then.
“When they started BBNaija, they were in touch with several people. They spoke to me about it but at that time, I went into different productions. I don’t feel bad about it. I am excited about BBNaija every time it comes on,†Osakioduwa further stated.
A graduate of Economics from University of Lagos, Osakioduwa began his broadcast career as the “Wild Child†on Rhythm 93.7 FM, but it wasn’t long before he moved into television as the presenter on M-Net’s flagship Afro-Chic lifestyle programme, Studio 53. …As Nigerian Army commends his commitment
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has reiterated that his administration will continue to support the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the state to ensure that they effectively discharge their duties.
Gov. Ugwuanyi gave the assurance during the 82 Division Nigerian Army West African Social Activities (WASA) 2021, held yesterday at the 82 Division Garrison Parade Ground, Abakpa Cantonment, Enugu.
The governor expressed delight at noting that the annual event was a platform for officers, soldiers, their families, friends and the host community to gather in a joyous and relaxed mood to appreciate God for the successful completion of training activities and operations for the past year while heralding the beginning of the New Year.
Gov. Ugwuanyi said that the occasion offered him the opportunity to celebrate the Nigerian soldiers for their gallantry in battling insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and terrorism in the past year.
“The events of the past year really put your courage and patriotism to test but your successes were cheering and reassuring to Nigerians that we have a dependable, disciplined and committed Armyâ€, the governor said.
Acknowledging, with deep sense of patriotism, the anxiety and emotional challenges the soldiers’ families and friends have to contend with as the officers and soldiers strive for the peace and unity of Nigeria, Gov. Ugwuanyi thanked them for “all your unsung sacrifices for our great nation, Nigeriaâ€.
The governor, who pointed out that the state government has a long tradition of mutual understanding and cooperation with the 82 Division Nigerian Army, paid respect to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General F. Yahaya, the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigerian Army, Major General T.A. Lagbaja and all the officers and men of the Division for their continued support to his administration especially in the areas of security, civil-military cooperation and peace advocacy.
“Your efforts in providing security are highly appreciated and our administration will continue to assist you and other security agencies in the state to ensure effective discharge of your dutiesâ€, Gov. Ugwuanyi assured.
In his address, the GOC 82 Division Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Lagbaja, welcomed Gov. Ugwuanyi to the event as the Special Guest of Honour and commended him for always supporting and identifying with the activities of the Division in particular and the Military in general, aimed at protecting lives and property.
The GOC disclosed that WASA provides an avenue for the Barrack community of various rich and diverse cultures of the country to display their potentials, adding that it is also a forum for peaceful interaction of soldiers and their families as well as the host community and friends.
The climaxes of the event were cultural displays, Tug of War competitions, presentation of awards, gifts and souvenirs, band display, beating of retreat, and the lighting of Bonfire which was performed by the governor.
Dignitaries at the event include the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, Enugu, Air Vice Marshal I.O. Daramola; the Wife of the GCO and Chairperson, Nigeria Army Officers Wives Association, Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja; the Chief of Staff, 82 Division Headquarters, Brig. Gen. G.O. Tottenham has signed Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus on Deadline Day.
