The member representing Eleme Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Josiah Olu,  has condemned the gruesome murder  of the former Alode youth president, Mr. Isaac Obe, and the unnecessary destruction of properties in parts of Eleme .

The Lawmaker  described the murder as inhuman, and barbaric and urged the security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators and their sponsors are punished.

In a release in Portharcourt, signed by his office,  the lawmaker  said that the killing of  Mr. Isaac Obe posed a significant danger to the effort to restore peace to the communities in Eleme and said the act was perpetrated by those intent on constituting road blocks against peace and progress in Eleme.

He said that all efforts must be made to fish out all those remotely and actively involved in the murder and bring them to justice so as to send the message that such criminal acts are not parts of what Eleme is known for .
"We demand for added efforts on the parts of the security agencies to ensure that all those directly and remotely involved in the killing of Mr. Obe are arrested  and brought to justice. I will use every element within my reach to manage and ensure that these heinous crime does not go unpunished," he said .

Former Minister of Aviation and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Femi Fani Kayode has described President Muhammadu Buhari as an ‘evil-minded’ person who has been rejected by God.

Fani-kayode said this government is governed by radical Islamists, voodoo merchants and psychopaths.

In a Facebook post, Fani-kayode predicted that many things will happen in the few months, asking Nigerians to buckle up.

He wrote, “President Muhammadu Buhari is venal and malevolent. He has been rejected by the Living God.

“His is a government of psychopaths, ethnic supremacists, radical Islamists, skull and bone diviners and voodoo merchants.

“We are entering the end game. Everything is coming to a head. The next few months will be instructive and critical. Much will happen.”

Fani-Kayode has few days ago said that there will be chaos in the country if President Muhammadu Buhari dies in Aso Rock.

He went further to say that, “The truth is that we are sitting on a keg of gunpowder in this country and I sincerely hope and pray that the President’s health improves and some measure of order, predictability, sanity, peace and stability is restored.

“If this happens we will have the historic opportunity to organise ourselves and vote the APC out in a peaceful election in 2019 but if it does not and Buhari dies before the end of his tenure, no-one in his right mind should expect a smooth transition of power to the Vice President.”

Six final year students of Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) have been expelled from the school for their alleged involvement in a violent protest against the school on the institution premises.

The Registrar of the institution, John Nnabuihe, in Owerri, said the Senate of the institution met a few days ago and approved of their expulsion.

“Six of them have been expelled, including the former student leader. The Senate met and expelled them,” Nnabuihe said.

Those affected were Collins Ogbonna (Fishery and Aquaculture Technology); Elvis Onuoha (Animal Science Technology); and Ebuka Odunze of Computer Science department.

Others, expelled, Nnabuihe, confirmed were Kenneth Mega (Prosthetics and Orthotics department); Nnamdi Madu and Collins Ugwu all of Optometry department.

Meanwhile, in solidarity with the expelled students, It way gathered that the students of the institution and other tertiary institutions in the country were allegedly planning to shut down academic and administrative activities in the FUTO on May 8, if the authorities of the institution fail to recall the six expelled students.

They demanded that the cause of the demonstration students held about two months ago be addressed rather than expelling students.

Students had staged a violent demonstration at the school about two months ago to protest increase of certain fees and lack of some accommodation and basic amenities. Certain properties belonging to the institution were destroyed in the process.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Francis Eze, has since dismissed the allegation, stating that the institution, as a federal institution, does not charge school fees, noting that only negligible addition for the provision of WiFi was made as agreed between the student body, the authorities and the providers.
