According to local media, officers detained them all and arrested 9 of them for working in Cambodia illegally without work permits. The leadership of the University of Jos has moved to curb the spate of sexual immorality among ladies with a check on their mode of dressing.

Authorities of the University of Jos on Wednesday directed its security agencies to arrest any student whose dressing assaults the sensibilities of the members of the university community.

The institution also warned that improperly dressed students would be barred from entering offices and attending lecturers.

The Vice-Chancellor of UNIJOS, Prof Sebastian Maimako, gave the directive in Jos on Wednesday during the matriculation ceremony for 7,000 students for the 2016/2017 academic session.

According to him, 31,759 candidates chose UNIJOS as their first choice with 25,785 for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and 5,974 for Direct Entry in the 2016/2017 session.

The VC said that although the social media had remained the vogue of the present society, it should not be used for negative reasons.

He said, “In line with the extant rules of the university, no student is permitted to publish anything concerning the university without the written permission of the vice-chancellor through the registrar.”

Three female teenage suicide bombers were gunned down yesterday night while trying to attack military outpost popularly known as “Gontanamo” along Muna Garage (c company 195 bn) in Borno state.

Though they were sighted trying to gain access to the premises and were shot by the securities leading to the detonation of their concealed explosives, which killed all three of them and injured one of the security personnel.

The corpses were evacuated to Borno state specialist hospital by NEMA/BOSEMA Emergency Response teams.

The Indian football team made it into the top 100 of the Fifa world rankings for the first time in 21 years when the rankings were released on today.

As per the updated rankings, the Stephen Constantine-coached side has climbed a rung and is now placed at the 100th spot along with Nicaragua, Lithuania and Estonia. India are the 11th highest placed team in Asia in the rankings.

The last time India were in the top 100 of the rankings was in 1996, with the 94th spot in February 1996 being the country’s best ever Fifa ranking.

India’s rise in the rankings has been due to triumphs over Cambodia and Myanmar, both away wins.

No doubt that our dear President is very sick and the fact that he hasn’t attended any FEC meetings for four weeks and counting have sparked a wild speculations that he is so sick that he can’t feed himself anymore.

Information Minister, Lai Mohammed yesterday refuted claims in some quarters that President Buhari’s health has deteriorate so bad that he is now being fed with a tube.

According to Lai Mohammed, that assumption is absolute bunkum and there is no truth to it. He said this when asked by a state house correspondents if this speculation was true.

“The answer to your first question is absolute bunkum. It is absolutely untrue that he is being fed. He was in the office yesterday as you all reported. And if the doctors say he should take a rest, because they think he’ll recover faster, then he ought to rest rather than forcing himself to work when he is not fit to work.

All he’s doing is following the doctor’s advice. Mr. President himself told the nation he had never been this sick and he is going to take it easy.

He said it from day one when he came back from the United Kingdom. So, whatever is happening today is not any strange development.

It is exactly what he said: that he’s been advised to take it easy by his doctors and that he will soon also go back for further treatment.

So, I don’t think it’s anything that is out of the place from what he said. He has been quite transparent and upfront in the matter concerning his health” he said

Towards the rehabilitation of the Ajaokuta Steel Complex, the Federal Government has completed the first phase of the ACSL thermal power plant.

The immediate past Director of Mines at the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Mr. Dauda Awojobi, who disclosed this at a training session for journalists in Lokoja, Kogi State on Wednesday, said following the rehabilitation of the plant, it had now added 22MW to the national grid.

He also disclosed that the government had created 119,532 direct employments from mid-tier operators and established 63 private minerals buying centres across the country.

Recalled that FG retrieved the steel complex from the concessionaire after a legal tussle.

The federal government has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will continue to rest until he has fully recovered and is fit to work based on his doctor’s advice.


Briefing journalists at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Mr. Lai Mohammed, said Buhari was not in the meeting because he chose to rest.

He dismissed inquiries by State House correspondents seeking to know if the president’s health had deteriorated to the extent that he was being fed.


Mohammed whose response to the question was “bunkum”, argued that it was better for the president to rest in compliance with his doctor’s advice, insisting that it was in his interest to get adequate rest until he’s fit to work instead of forcing himself to work.

Oluwayemisi Adepegba, a seven-month pregnant Nigerian mother-of-two, met with a terrible fate in the US on Wednesday, April 26. She has sobbed her heart out at the grief that possessed her. Adepegba, who has two daughters aged two and eight, arrived in the US just two weeks back and had barely spent 12 hours with her husband when he was picked up dead inside a metro bus.
The husband, Tunde Adepegba, a computer systems analyst, suffered a suspected heart attack while inside a metro bus in Annapolis area of Maryland and died with no help until the bus driver got to a final stop and came for him.

Like the irony of life for which fate is never tired, Adepegba’s burial will cost the wife about $10,000, but a gofundme account has been set up for her husband burial.

A deputy editor with THISDAY newspaper, Olawale Olaleye, who has been part of the fundraiser, wrote on his Facebook wall calling for help.

“This is no good news but a time I need the Nigerian in us to act true to type. Sadly, he left behind a pregnant wife. It is such a pathetic situation. But we can’t go on and on brooding over what we can’t change. This is an appeal for his burial, which is a bit expensive in the U.S and of course, whatever is left of this will be given to the pregnant wife,” Olaleye wrote

An editor and columnist with THISDAY newspaper, Adeola Akinremi, who is currently in the US and has seen the family of the deceased, told TheCable: “It is a sad story you won’t even wish for your enemy. Everything around the woman and the children has collapsed. They can only live on charity for now and everyone with a good heart must rise up. Adepegba is currently in Randallstown, Maryland, United States, where a Good Samaritan is accommodating her and the children for the period of the burial.Nigerian

A female factory worker got her arm stuck in a squat toilet while trying to retrieve her phone battery in southeastern China's Guangdong province. The woman had attempted to take the battery out but unfortunately got her arm stuck inside.
Firefighters spent 40 minutes trying to free her hand before sending her to a hospital.

She explained to firefighters that her phone battery dropped into the toilet and she placed her hands inside immediately in a bid to pick it up.

However, she got her whole right arm stuck in the tube and was unable to take it out.
Rescuers from Zhongkai Fire Department explained to the woman, who has not been identified, that they could take her hands out from the toilet but not the battery.

It is believed that the woman is one of the workers in a factory near Chenjiang Avenue in Huizhou city.
