Why Rihanna canceled her Grammy Award Performance by Brookey55(m) : 11:05 am On Feb 17

Rihanna will no longer be performing at the
2016 Grammy Awards despite a highly
anticipated performance as she is too sick
to perform, her rep confirms this
The 27-year-old singer was set to perform
her song "Kiss It Better" off her album Anti
and showed up to rehearsals today, but
had to back out after she didn't feel up to
performing.
"Based on Rihanna's examination, after
Grammy rehearsal today, Rihanna 's doctor
put her on vocal rest for 48-hours because
she was at risk of hemorrhaging her vocal
chords," her rep said in a statement.
The antibiotics she has been on for 3-days
did not kill the infection adequately
therefore she cannot perform safely."
We wish Rihanna a speedy recovery and
can't wait to see her next performance!

(Must read) The Benefits of Ginger for healthy living by Brookey55(m) : 4:27 am On Feb 18

Ginger is loaded with nutrients
and bioactive compounds
that have powerful
benefits for your body and
brain.
Here are 11 health benefits of ginger that are
supported by scientific research.
1. Ginger Contains Gingerol, a
Substance With Powerful Medicinal
Properties
Ginger is a flowering plant that originated from
China.
It belongs to the Zingiberaceae family, and is
closely related to turmeric , cardomon and
galangal.
The rhizome (underground part of the stem) is
the part commonly used as a spice. It is often
called ginger root, or simply ginger.
Ginger has a very long history of use in various
forms of traditional/alternative medicine. It has
been used to help digestion, reduce nausea and
help fight the flu and common cold, to name a
few.
This is what ground, fresh and sliced ginger looks
like:
Ginger can be used fresh, dried, powdered, or as
an oil or juice, and is sometimes added to
processed foods and cosmetics. It is a very
common ingredient in recipes.
The unique fragrance and flavor of ginger come
from its natural oils, the most important of which
is gingerol.
Gingerol is the main bioactive compound in
ginger, responsible for much of its medicinal
properties. It has powerful anti-inflammatory and
antioxidant effect.
2. Ginger Can Treat Many Forms of
Nausea, Especially Morning Sickness
Ginger appears to be
highly effective against
nausea.
For example, it has a long
history of use as a sea
sickness remedy, and
there is some evidence
that it may be as effective
as prescription medication.
Ginger may also relieve nausea and vomiting
after surgery, and in cancer patients undergoing
chemotherapy.
But it may be the most effective when it comes
to pregnancy-related nausea, such as morning
sickness.
According to a review of 12 studies that included
a total of 1,278 pregnant women, 1.1-1.5 grams
of ginger can significantly reduce symptoms of
nausea.
However, ginger had no effect on vomiting
episodes in this study.
Although ginger is considered safe, talk to your
doctor before taking large amounts if you are
pregnant. Some believe that large amounts can
raise the risk of miscarriage, but there are
currently no studies to support this.
3. Ginger May Reduce Muscle Pain
and Soreness
Ginger has been shown to
be effective against
exercise-induced muscle
pain.
In one study, consuming 2
grams of ginger per day, for 11 days, significantly
reduced muscle pain in people performing elbow
exercises.
Ginger does not have an immediate impact, but
may be effective at reducing the day-to-day
progression of muscle pain.
These effects are believed to be mediated by the
anti-inflammatory properties.
4. The Anti-Inflammatory Effects Can
Help With Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is a
common health problem.
It involves degeneration of
the joints in the body,
leading to symptoms like
joint pain and stiffness.
In a controlled trial of 247 people with
osteoarthritis of the knee, those who took ginger
extract had less pain and required less pain
medication.
Another study found that a combination of
ginger, mastic, cinnamon and sesame oil, can
reduce pain and stiffness in osteoarthritis
patients when applied topically.
5. Ginger May Drastically Lower
Blood Sugars and Improve Heart
Disease Risk Factors
This area of research is relatively new, but
ginger may have powerful anti-diabetic
properties.
In a recent 2015 study of 41 participants with
type 2 diabetes, 2 grams of ginger powder per
day lowered fasting blood sugar by 12% ( 11).
It also dramatically improved HbA1c (a marker
for long-term blood sugar levels), leading to a
10% reduction over a period of 12 weeks.
There was also a 28% reduction in the ApoB/
ApoA-I ratio, and a 23% reduction in markers for
oxidized lipoproteins. These are both major risk
factors for heart disease.
This graph shows what happened:
However, keep in mind that this was just one
small study. The results are incredibly
impressive, but they need to be confirmed in
larger studies before any recommendations can
be made.
6. Ginger Can Help Treat Chronic
Indigestion
Chronic indigestion
( dyspepsia ) is
characterized by recurrent
pain and discomfort in the
upper part of the
stomach.
It is believed that delayed emptying of the
stomach is a major driver of indigestion.
Interestingly, ginger has been shown to speed up
emptying of the stomach in people with this
condition.
After eating soup, ginger reduced the time it took
for the stomach to empty from 16 to 12 minutes.
In a study of 24 healthy individuals, 1.2 grams of
ginger powder before a meal accelerated
emptying of the stomach by 50%
7. Ginger Powder May Significantly
Reduce Menstrual Pain
Menstrual pain ( dysmenorrhea) refers to pain felt
during a woman’s menstrual cycle.
One of the traditional uses of ginger is for pain
relief, including menstrual pain.
In one study, 150 women were instructed to take
1 gram of ginger powder per day, for the first 3
days of the menstrual period.
Ginger managed to reduce pain as effectively as
the drugs mefenamic acid and ibuprofen.
8. Ginger May Lower Cholesterol
Levels
High levels of LDL
lipoproteins (the “bad”
cholesterol) are linked to
an increased risk of heart
disease.
The foods you eat can have a strong influence
on LDL levels.
In a 45-day study of 85 individuals with high
cholesterol, 3 grams of ginger powder caused
significant reductions in most cholesterol
markers.
This is supported by a study in hypothyroid rats,
where ginger extract lowered LDL cholesterol to
a similar extent as the cholesterol-lowering drug
atorvastatin.
Both studies also showed reductions in total
cholesterol and blood triglycerides.
9. Ginger Contains a Substance That
May Help Prevent Cancer
Cancer is a very serious
disease that is
characterized by
uncontrolled growth of
abnormal cells.
Ginger extract has been
studied as an alternative treatment for several
forms of cancer.
The anti-cancer properties are attributed to 6-
gingerol, a substance that is found in large
amounts in raw ginger.
In a study of 30 individuals, 2 grams of ginger
extract per day significantly reduced pro-
inflammatory signalling molecules in the colon.
However, a follow-up study in individuals at a
high risk of colon cancer did not confirm these
findings.
There is some, albeit limited, evidence that
ginger may be effective against pancreatic
cancer, bre*st cancer and ovarian cancer. More
research is needed.
10. Ginger May Improve Brain
Function and Protect Against
Alzheimer’s Disease
Oxidative stress and chronic inflammation can
accelerate the aging process.
They are believed to be among the key drivers of
Alzheimer’s disease and age-related cognitive
decline.
Some studies in animals suggest that the
antioxidants and bioactive compounds in ginger
can inhibit inflammatory responses that occur in
the brain.
There is also some evidence that ginger can
enhance brain function directly. In a study of 60
middle-aged women, ginger extract was shown to
improve reaction time and working memory.
There are also numerous studies in animals
showing that ginger can protect against age-
related decline in brain function.
11. The Active Ingredient in Ginger
Can Help Fight Infections
Gingerol, the bioactive
substance in fresh ginger,
can help lower the risk of
infections.
In fact, ginger extract can
inhibit the growth of many
different types of bacteria.
It is very effective against the oral bacteria
linked to inflammatory diseases in the gums,
such as gingivitis and periodontitis.
Fresh ginger may also be effective against the
RSV virus , a common cause of respiratory
infections.

Similarities between Christianity and Islam; What do you think? by Brookey55(m) : 5:53 am On Feb 19

If there were a world rivalry of
religions, few would hesitate to
point to Islam versus Christianity.
These religions, the two largest in the
world, have a long history of locking
swords — whether on the
battlefield, through proselytizing, or
during heated debates.
What tends to get buried under the
dust, though, are some remarkable
bonds shared by the two religions.
Here are five of them that I wish we
called more attention to:
1. The Prophecy of Abraham as father
of humanity
Prophet Abraham is patriarch to both
Muslims and Christians. In the Old
Testament, God says to Abraham, “And
I will make of thee a great nation, and
I will bless thee, and make thy name
great . . . and in thee shall all the
families of the earth be
blessed” (Genesis 12:2-3 ).
In Genesis 17:20-22 , God blesses
Ishmael, the Abrahamic patriarch of
the Muslims, and Isaac, the Abrahamic
patriarch of Judeo-Christianity. Today,
Muslims and Christians together make
up a little more than half the world’s
population, thereby opening up the
view of the fulfillment of
God’s promise to Abraham. How
amazing is that!
2. Muhammad in the Holy Bible
In Genesis 17:20-22, God promises to
raise a great nation through Ishmael.
And in Deuteronomy 18:18 we have
the prophecy of a prophet to be raised
from the brethren of the Israelites.
Genesis 21:21 says that Ishmael dwelt
in the wilderness of Paran. In local
parlance, the area between Mecca and
Medina is known as Bariyyat Faran —
the wilderness of Faran (an alternate
spelling of Paran). Deuteronomy
33:2 says that the Lord “shone forth
from Mount Paran; he came from the
ten thousands of holy ones, with
flaming fire at his right hand” —
Prophet Muhammad’s army at the
conquest of Mecca is known to have
consisted of 10,000, and the reference
to the fiery law is thought to be the
Holy Quran.
Though Christian apologists may
disagree, these references were strong
enough for Rabbi Bachya to write in
the Midrash Bereshit Rabbah (an
ancient rabbinical text), “We see from
the prophecy in this verse that 2,337
years elapsed before the Arabs,
Ishmael’s descendants, became goy
gadol (great nation) with the rise of
Islam in 624 C.E. . . . finally the
promise was fulfilled.”
3. Jesus in the Holy Quran
Though the references to Prophet
Muhammad (peace be on him) in the
Holy Bible are challenged by Christian
apologists, there is no ambiguity about
Jesus’ (peace be on him) presence in
the Holy Quran. Jesus is one of the
most-referenced prophets in the Quran
— mentioned by name 25 times.
In verse 21:91, the Holy Quran
bestows a great honor on Jesus and his
mother Mary: “. . . and We made her
and her son a sign for all peoples.”
Similarly, verse 2:253 reads, “These
messengers We have exalted, some
above others . . . and some of them He
has exalted by degrees of rank, and
We gave Jesus, son of Mary, clear
proofs and strengthened him with the
Holy Spirit.”
4. Mary, mother of Jesus, in the Holy
Quran and Holy Bible
Both religions profoundly revere the
Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus. The Holy
Quran is the only scripture outside of
the Gospels to reaffirm the
righteousness and virginity of Mary at
Jesus’s birth. The Quran states in
verse 19:20, “She (Mary) said — how
will I have a son? No man has touched
me, and I am not unchaste . . . He
(Gabriel) said — It is a matter
decreed.”
Mary is the only woman mentioned by
name in the Holy Quran. In Chapter 66
verses 11-12, the example of a true
believer is given in the personage of
two women — one was the wife of
Pharaoh (adversary to Moses) and the
other is Mary. Muslims are of the view
that Mary holds the highest honor and
dignity among women, and they
religiously follow the utterance of her
name with the incantation “may Allah
be pleased with her.”
In a well known historical incident
during the early days of Islam, some
Muslims fled the persecution in Mecca
and sought shelter in the neighboring
Christian nation of Abyssinia. As
Meccan authorities pursued to
apprehend the party, they appealed to
the King of Abyssinia who summoned
the Muslim refugees to his court.
However, upon listening to one of the
refugee recite verses 19:19-21 of the
Holy Quran in honor of Mary and
Jesus, he felt unable to release the
party to their persecutors even at risk
of severing diplomatic ties.
5. The Return of Jesus in the End of
Days
Perhaps the most fascinating
commonality between the two
religions is the belief that Jesus Christ
will return during the End Times. Both
religions share prophecies that his
return will be in part to address
immorality, conflict, and injustices
during the final epoch of human
history. And both religions share a
messianic creed that the Messiah will
put an end to religious conflict and
usher an era of world peace.
For Ahmadi-Muslims like myself, this
takes on an even greater dimension.
Ahmadi Muslims believe that the
prophecies of the return of Jesus are
allegorical and were fulfilled in the
person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad
(1835-1908) from Qadian, India.
Ahmadi-Muslims, who today bear
terrible persecution in some countries,
take inspiration from the
determination and perseverance of the
early Christians who bore through
similar hardships and ultimately
triumphed over their persecutors.

Why People find Mathematics difficult by Brookey55(m) : 4:10 am On Feb 21

1. Mathematics is not difficult:
Mathematics is no more difficult than other fields. Cooking is difficult. Ballet is difficult.
2. Your lack of ability "hits you in the face": People find Mathematics difficult because it is easier to
realise that it is difficult. With other difficult tasks it is easier to f00l one's self into believing that
one is good at said task, but this doesn't work with mathematics. If you're bad at mathematics it will
show you just how bad you are.
3. Mathematics not an option:
Students are taught mathematics regardless of interest, and everyone is expected to learn it to
some degree. If one had no interest in ballet and it were made compulsory , we may find that few
have the talent for it.
4. Poor pedagogy: Mathematics is taught badly. School mathematics is often far removed from what professional mathematicians do.
The syllabus expects students to commit to rote learning or adherence to methodology which
kills the creativity and imagination that is at the core of the field. This also leads to students hating
the subject which future compounds the problem.
5. Strong Dependencies: Topics build on other topics and this dependency is so strong that,
without the necessary background, the more advanced topics are unintelligible.
6. Cultural Bias: Mathematics seems difficult because we are told to expect it to be difficult.
7. Mathematics is difficult:
Mathematics is inherently difficult because it is abstract, and animals (including humans) evolved to solve concerned problems. Humans find abt reaction problems difficult. It is also difficult because one cannot couch an idea. One must solve actual problems or prove theorems, and these have
definite results.

Why I won't devalue Naira--Buhari by Brookey55(m) : 4:16 pm On Feb 21

President Muhammadu Buhari gives reasons Why he won't devalue Naira,
He said Nigeria could not compete with developed countries which produce to compete among themselves and could afford to devalue their local currencies.
Buhari was quoted as saying that Nigeria could not afford to devalue its currency because the country imports everything, including toothpicks.

He said, “Developed countries are competing among themselves and when they devalue they compete better and manufacture and export more.

“But we are not competing and exporting but importing everything including toothpicks. So, why should we devalue our currency?

“We want to be more productive and self-sufficient in food and other basic things such as clothing.

“For our government, we like to encourage local production and efficiency.”

The President added that those who have developed taste for foreign luxury goods should continue to pay for them rather than put pressure on the government to devalue the naira.

He added that the priority of his administration is to ensure national food security before export of food products.

He stressed that Nigeria being a mono-economy dependent on oil, and with a teeming unemployed youth population, the way out of the current slump in the global oil market, is for the administration to focus on agriculture and solid minerals development.

“The land is there and we need machinery inputs, fertilizer and insecticides,” he said.

Jose Mourinho is going to Manchester by Brookey55(m) : 5:36 pm On Feb 21

Jose Mourinho will succeed Louis van Gaal as
Manchester United manager, according to an
Inter Milan director.
Doorstepped by reporters as she left a
restaurant following a meal with former Inter
boss Mourinho, Bedy Moratti - sister of former
club president Massimo Moratti - said: "He's
missed as a person, but right now he's happy,
he's going to Manchester."
Thursday's embarrassing Europa League loss
to FC Midtjylland has further weakened Van
Gaal's position.
Since the turn of the year, there has been
continued speculation about the former
Chelsea manager returning to management at
Old Trafford.

Don jazzy broke her heart in Public by Brookey55(m) : 5:57 am On Feb 22

valentine vibe has come and gone, it
definitely would have been an unforgettable
experience for some, as many might have
created memories that would not be forgotten
so easily.
In the whole Val Craziness, a young lady who
apparently wanted to get her boo a gift, or
just wanted to disturb Don Jazzy, sent him a
message requesting him to send her money to
buy a valentine gift for her boo.
However, Don jazzy might have been tagged
as a nice and generous person, but he is
definitely not the type that allow's people take
advantage of him.
The lady who sent him that message with
much positive response was heart broken
because Don Jazzy didn't grant her request.
He wrote ‘‘Tell your Baba that the jazz did not
work’’
It was so funny seeing such response, what
she was thinking before asking for such
request?

Hello Beautiful People, My Name is Oluwabukola, I'm the new Moderator of the Love and Relationship section of ECHOnigeria. As an expert in relationships and Matchmaking, my job on this forum is to help everyone here get partners of their dream. This means that aside from my primary role of moderating this section, I am directly in charge of all relationship and dating requests. So I receive applications from males and females seeking decent partners from any part of the country, I relate with them and know who they are, the type and taste of partner that they want, and after long chain of conversation on the forum, I determine who match who and connect them.

I have been in this professionally for 3 years and that was earned the job to be the new moderator of the section. So am Happy to be here and I look forward to getting you that girl/guy of your dream
