Ondo State House of Assembly has summoned  the state commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adeyanju and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Commander to appear before it by 10am tomorrow, over the arrest and detention of a suspect said to be involved in the Ifon Bank Robbery.

The summons to the security chiefs followed a motion by Hon Olusola Oluyede from Ose constituency claiming that the suspect, Joseph Ediong is innocent of complicity in the robbery incident that claimed the lives of three Police personnel.

Ediong was arrested by the police at Uzeba in Edo state where he was said to be receiving treatment for his gun shot wounds.

Speaking at plenary, Oluyede, said Ediong is not an armed robber as claimed but was shot by a police officer during a protest by community members who were protesting against the  robbery attack.

Oluyede and other lawmakers who spoke on the incident pleaded with the police to allow the suspect have access to the hospital to remove the bullet on his leg.

The speaker, Bamidele Oleyeologun then read the resolution of the house which directed that all victims of the robbery attack should report to the palace, make a police report and receive treatment within the community.

The resolution also urged security agents to be more discreet in carrying out it duties.
