A  popular blogger in Imo State, Ifeanyi Onyenankeya, who was kidnapped on Monday night has regained his freedom, Punch Metro reports.
 

He was released on Thursday night, his kinsman who did not want his name mentioned told our correspondent.
 

Onyenankeya, is the owner of popular news blogs, Okigwe Arena and Imo Arena.

He was abducted on Monday night at his father’s compound, at 3 Duru Close, Ekeagbara, Okigwe.
 

According to a source, the three gunmen who abducted him allegedly beat him up before whisking him away. He was said to have resisted the gunmen initially.
 

His abductors had placed a N1.5m ransom on him as a condition to guarantee his freedom.
 

“Remember that he was beaten before being whisked away. Ransom was paid but we don’t want to make it public. The good news is that he is with us. We are grateful to the police, especially SARS operatives for the roles they played during this ugly incident.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, when contacted said that he had yet to be briefed on the developmental but a police source who pleaded not to be mentioned confirmed the news to our correspondent.
