Quadri wants coach ahead of World Cup by Freekzy(m) : 1:18 am

Nigeria table tennis star, Aruna Quadri, has said he needs the services of a good coach to assist him ahead of and during the 2017 ITTF Men’s World Cup in Belgium.

The 29-year-old will represent the continent at the tournament, which will hold between October 20 and 22. Twenty best table tennis players from across the world will compete for the highest title in the sport.

Quadri, who on Saturday became the first African to reach the semifinal of the ITTF World Tour, reached the quarterfinal of the ITTF World Cup in 2014. He lost to eventual champion, Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov, in the semifinal of the Bulgaria Open.

The 2017 World Cup is Quadri’s second consecutive appearance at the competition after he exited in the early rounds at the 2016 edition.

The 2014 ITTF Star Player of the Year said in a statement that he needs a coach to enable him  perform well at the 2017 World Cup.

“I am actually getting used to playing without a coach because I have no sponsors, which would have enabled me get one. I have learnt that I just have to play alone. Having a coach is very important but since I have no support, I just have to keep playing alone.”
