Two electrocuted, four injured in Abuja by Whatelse(m) : 4:46 am |
Okechukwu Nnodim, Abuja  The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company on Tuesday said it had inaugurated a six-man team to investigate the circumstances that led to the electrocution of two persons on July 29, 2017 in Angwan Biri, near Minna, the Niger State capital.  According to the Head, Public Relations and Media, AEDC, Mr Ahmed Shekarau, a preliminary report on the incident showed that the binding wire of an 11Kv line came in contact with the 415V red phase cable, thus sending high voltage which allegedly killed two people and injured four others.  AEDC’s Director, Risk and Compliance, Mr Collins Chabuka, who inaugurated the investigative team in Abuja, dismissed insinuations that 49 houses were affected.  He said, “The purpose of the investigation is to highlight the shortcomings that may have led to the incident and also to recommend industry best practice and remedial measures to prevent a recurrence.† He commiserated with the family of the deceased and members of the Angwan Biri community, assuring them that the AEDC would foot the medical bill of the lone victim still receiving treatment.  “The panel has two weeks to submit its report,†he said.
