Jibrin threatens to expose more details of corruption in House of Reps by Whatelse(m) : 12:27 pm

Undeterred by his 180 legislative days
suspension, the embattled former
chairman of the House Committee on
Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin,
has vowed to expose more instances of
corruption in the Green Chamber.
Jibrin told journalists in Abuja that
apart from the allegations has already
submitted to the Economic and
Financial Crime Commission (EFCC),
he would be speaking in the days
ahead about how members of some
investigative committees committee
corruption.
"On the issue of systemic corruption
[in the House of Representatives], in
the next few days, I will be talking
about how investigative committees
are used to perpetuate corruption in
the House," Jibrin said.
Jibrin was suspended on September 28
by the House after being indicted for
allegedly bringing members of the
lower chamber into disrepute. The
House also directed that Jibrin will not
be able to hold any position of
responsibility for the span of the
current National Assembly as part of
the punitive measures and would not
be paid salaries for the duration of his
suspension.
The decision, which got the
endorsement of the lawmakers without
a single dissenting voice, followed the
adoption of the report of the
Committee on Ethics and Privileges
Committee, headed by Ossai Nicholas
Ossai.
Jibrin had alleged the Speaker of the
House, Yakubu Dogara, and three
other principal officers were corrupt
and called for their resignation and
prosecution.
But the House Committee on Ethics
and Privileges said in its report that
Jubrin’s statements were denigrating
to the House as an institution.
The report further said that the action
of Jubrin amounted to an infraction of
section 21 and 24 of the legislative
House.
